The Lenoi Range: Lenoi II

Outer Rim Territories.
Carrion Sector.
Sojourn system, Sojourn.
The Lenoi were a series of datapads sold by Chandrila DataTech, a technological manufacturer and retailer found in Hanna City. Through a series of distractions, galactic disasters and wars, the development of DataTech had slowed. It had all culminated in Alicia Drey liquidating her assets in the corporation and a quick sale to Krayt Industries CEO, Taeli Rae. Thirty two million credits and a contract later, Alicia found herself with only a 10% stake in the corporation that her family had started. Undoubtedly, her father would be rolling in his grave. But if the company that her father began at the turn of the century was to continue, then it would need the type of investment and backing that someone like Miss. Rae could provide.

Released in the year 837, the Lenoi I and it's sales had slowed in recent times, as had many of the other products that Chandrila DataTech sold. It also didn't help that Chandrila found itself in a state of recession following Akala's attack on the galaxy. If the corporation was to become a source of profit for Taeli, so as to get back her investment that she had made when purchasing the company, then it would require new products to be put up for sale.

Thus a new datapad, the Lenoi II, had been conceived. The meeting place was "the Fort", the home away from home, where Alicia currently resided. She would be meeting with the new owner of DataTech to show the new design of the Lenoi II and the upgrades and features it had over it's predecessor in the Lenoi I. Dressed in comfortable and casual clothes, Alicia waited in her study whilst one of the Sun Guards under her employ could meet with Taeli and escort her to where Alicia was when she was on the moon.

"I can feel the history of this place," she said, more to herself than the Sun Guard leading her to her meeting with Alicia Drey. Most people wouldn't even connect this moon to anything really significant in galactic history, but they would be oh so wrong to do so. A great many things had emerged from Sojourn in the days of the Old Republic, many of them caused by a Muun named Hego Damask.

Apparently, Miss Drey took pleasure in recreating that atmosphere, from this fort, to the Sun Guard men stationed as security around the place. It gave the place a ring of authenticity, but Taeli also wondered just what sort of ulterior messages Drey was sending. A historian like her would be very curious why the Sun Guard were working for her, when their last master had been a Sith. Very curious indeed, but for now, she would let that go. Chandrila DataTech was the main purpose of this meeting.

The Sun Guard opened the door to the study, and closed it behind her as she was left alone with the enigmatic woman.

"You really went for being authentic when you designed this place, didn't you?" she said, moving to greet Miss Drey. "As a historian and scholar, I can appreciate that immensely."

"If you only knew," Alicia smiled, when Taeli entered the room. Sojourn did have a rich history, one that had been concealed by the Four-Hundred Year Darkness. Not even she knew what had happened here before the Gulag virus and she lived here. Gesturing to a seat, Alicia said. "I like the setting to be symbolic. You rarely get more symbolic than the Hunter's Moon, Sojourn."

"And today, we'll be hunting down the profits that we both want for DataTech. With you on board for the projects future, I reveal the Lenoi two, successor to the Lenoi one in the Lenoi range."

"Yes, symbolism is always good to have to make a point," Taeli said with a smile. "So walk me through it," she continued, taking a seat across from the other woman. "How is the new Lenoi II datapad different from the Lenoi I?"

She was rather curious about it, perhaps she might trade up her personally customized datapad for this one, or even incorporate some of her designs into the new model. She had looked over the Lenoi I, along with the operating system that it ran that was developed by Chandrila DataTech, and found it was definitely time to move into the next line of things.

"Well, the first improvement is the casing that holds the datapad together." Alicia pulled over the Lenoi I she had been using for the past few years. "The Lenoi one was made out of aluminum and glass. The Lenoi two will have a diatium casing, replace the aluminum one. Based on our market research, I feel that diatium would have a more authentic and more reliable edge than aluminum." She tapped her finger on the screen. "The screen itself will remain glass. We explored transparisteel and glasteel, but both were too heavy. We want the Lenoi two to be comfortable."

[member="Alicia Drey"]

"Why not design it with a liquid crystal display?" she asked, agreeing that a diatium casing would certainly make it tougher and able to withstand the natural wear and tear of life. "Glass is all well and good, but it is also not something that could survive much of a hit. Liquid crystal might stand up a bit better and the touch screen aspects would be a bit more sensitive and reactive."

"That's a good point. I agree." She moved on. "The Lenoi one wasn't waterproof. The Lenoi two will be, as an upgrade. The operating system has a better layout and less glitches than the old one. Sometimes there would be an unbearable lag, which the Lenoi two fixes. It will also store a gigabyte more data than it's predecessor."

"It will run faster, be more durable and is a complete upgrade from the Lenoi one. Everything you want from a successor."

"Indeed, those will certainly help move those off the shelves," Taeli said, nodding to herself. These were certainly some improvements that were needed. "Have you considered the idea of adding a small holo-call feature into the system? It would lower the battery power more when used, but it would give people a more mobile way to speak with someone face to face."

[member="Taeli Rae"]

"If that is what you want added in as a feature, then I could make it work. Perhaps it can be like an add on. You can purchase the Lenoi two as a base model and extra features like the Chon store and holographic calls are extra incentives you buy on top?"

[member="Alicia Drey"]

"Would certainly have people coming in to modify their base model, or offer deluxe packaging for a few more credits with those included in the deal," she said, nodding. "I've got a few ideas for other projects in mind, but they are still in the developmental phase. I'll let you know more once they move into something a bit more concrete."

"Great. We'll have the Lenoi two in production in no time. I think that covers about everything." Alicia smiled. Their next topic of conversation would be the Raxor range. But that was for another thread.

"Ah yes, before I forget," Taeli said, reaching into her satchel. The Sun Guards reacted by moving slightly, probably expecting a weapon. "Easy boys, just a little something I forgot to give your employer the last time we met."

Setting a small cloth covered package on the table, she smiled and said, "As you asked, quiet and no one can see you acquiring it . . . for whatever reason you might have for obtaining the artifact. I hope it looks good in your . . . private collection."
