OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
SETTING INFORMATION
  • Structure Name: "The Last Round" Bar
  • Classification: Public house
  • Location: Golbah City "fringe sector," Geonosis
  • Affiliation: Privately owned by Castor Stahl; within CIS territory, and a rumored hotspot for Ministry of Secrets activity
  • Accessibility: Public, no cover charge, though there is a two-drink minimum
  • Description: A hole-in-the-wall dive bar tucked away in the mess that is the Golbah Sprawl. Unassuming from the outside, with a single sign indicating its name, the Last Round has clearly seen better days. Seating capacity is probably two dozen, and the air conditioning occasionally needs some TLC.
POINTS OF INTEREST
  • The Bar: Castor himself tends the bar about half the time, and he's good enough at it that those coming for a decent drink are likely to remember him fondly. When he's not on-shift, a droid bartender that seems to be keeping up the establishment's theme of "old and busted" attempts valiantly to follow its master's recipes to... mixed success. Around the bar itself is plenty of standing room and a few dirty tables. The walls are covered in screens showing planetary and galactic news, as well as sports on request.
  • The Back Rooms: While most of the bar is public access, customers looking to conduct business can entreat access to the private rooms in the back of the building, opposite the kitchen. These are soundproofed, have much more reliable climate control than the main floor, and lock from the inside. Naturally, they're very popular with criminals, and rumored to be used by the Ministry of Secrets on occasion. No-questions-asked cleanup carries a 500-credit surcharge. Mind the smell of blood and spice.

SECURITY
Medium. Castor hires some pretty enthusiastic bouncers.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
The Sprawl is eternal. Golbah City has been expanding for years now with no sign of stopping. The edge of the expansion area, though, is known to be a hotspot of unpleasantness. Crime, misery, and general recalcitrance run rampant in the broken-down, dusty hell that is the Crown's notorious "Fringe Sector." That sort of environment is perfect for an independent entrepreneur to claim a stake, though it would be inaccurate to call Castor Stahl an independent entrepreneur.

Castor's application to the Ministry of Development for a license was put through suspiciously quickly. Within a week of opening, his suspicions were cleared when a group of people trying very quietly not to let on that they were soldiers dropped a cursory few credits on the bar to rent a private room for three hours. Two hours in, there was the sound of blaster fire, and when the group emerged one dropped another stack of credits on the bar before leaving. It took Castor a solid week to clean up the mess.

Rather than follow his gut and shut down immediately, Stahl sensed opportunity. He began raising the prices for his newly-soundproofed "private rooms," and established a policy of not asking questions about what happened inside. Unfortunately, this hasn't been nearly as profitable as he'd like. While it barely keeps the doors open, it's nowhere near enough to cover the cost of closing shop... which, if he's judged his clientele accurately, would probably require him to change his name and leave the planet.
