SPECIAL FEATURES
  • The impromptu alloy of cortosis and beskar, allows the weapon to parry and counter lightsabers and other similar weapons. It can even deflect most blaster bolts. Given the different amounts of cortosis present on the blade and sheath, the strength of this effect varies. The scabbard is only able to parry or deflect blows and bolts, respectively. Whereas, when a lighsaber comes into contact with the blade, it shorts out for a brief moment - duration depending on the quality of the lightsaber and its crystal, but never for longer than a single second.
STRENGTHS
  • The presence of cortosis and beskar makes this weapon well-suited against lightsaber and blaster bolts.
WEAKNESSES
  • Being a vibrosword, the sword is ill-suited against electrical weapons, due to the risk of electrocution to the user.
DESCRIPTION

Spek Zhio salvaged this weapon, among other personal belongings, from the captain's cabin of an old YT-1930 light freighter. The ship that would ultimately become the Azure Alcyone.

Nothing is actually known regarding its origin, past history, and the date it was crafted. The weapon, most likely ceremonial in nature or created for the purpose of being used as a status symbol, was crafted from a variety of several expensive materials.

The blade and scabbard are mostly comprised of different proportions of cortosis and beskar, which are responsible for their varied degrees of lightsaber countering properties. Also mixed in with this metal alloy are distinct trace amounts of nyix that, when mixed with the cortosis gives the scabbard its dark color, and when mixed with aurodium, confer its icy blue sheen to the engravings on the blade. This nyix-alloy is unique, and not the same tough alloy used on starship hulls. Lastly, the hilt is completely forged from durasteel, with the grip being covered in luxurious dark leather.

Despite not being made for the purpose of combat, given the quality of the metals and alloys employed in its construction, the weapon is remarkably light for its length, and is capable of being wielded with one hand. As a by-product of that, the weight balance is slightly off, making precise and accurate strokes difficult to perform.

The engravings on each side of the blade, near the guard, are that of a small bird mid-flight. These engravings, are the reason behind why Zhio christened the weapon The Kingfisher.
