Name: Oliver Dorian Calvarona, King of Crina
Loyalties: Planet of Crina, authority of the Luminita System. Supports the Imperial Remnant in turn for their aid in ending the Crinan Civil War and defeating the rebels.
Role: NPC Monarch, King of Crina. Head of the Royal Family and Chief of Crina's State.
Development Threads: http://starwarsrp.net/topic/43661-phrik-for-a-king/ (Has been mentioned around, will appear in more rps, first rp central to them though)
Age: 42
Species: Human
Force-Sensitive: Weak Force Sensitivity. Little Training.
Appearance: Tall, 6'5", with raven dark hair and lean build. Deep sapphire eyes and typically stern features.
Personality: Crina's king is a man of action and it shows accordingly. There is a tension about him as a result of his past, responsibilities, and position. He often appears stern and strict, many times advocating for direct action and swift decisions. Many consider him to be a brutal man, but in truth his objective is provide full protection for Crina and those who thrive on it. He saw the rebellion as a destructive force with no direction and harmful to the people, though his own personal experience lent rage to his opinion. Putting on a rather jovial face for his family and the nobility, Oliver Calvarona is a tactful man of state though he often delegates to his second wife, the current Queen, as her upbringing allows her much more understanding on matters of politics regarding the nobles and economy.
Weapon of Choice: Crinan Energy Blade
Wealth: Considerably wealthy on Crina since the Monarchy operates a state run system, though their currency does not transfer to the galactic market.
Combat Function: More confidant on the battlefield than within the holdings and trappings of politics, Oliver Calvarona is a man of action. Due to the death of the other members of his family at a young age, he was sheltered within the palace walls on Crina for much of his young life. As such he missed out on several aspects of the typical upbringing of a royal family member. He never underwent the training and teachings at Cosmina, instead receiving private tutoring for his mystical abilities and education. In regards to that he feels he ended up lacking as a politician and statesman as his learning was not as intense or thorough when most people feared for his safety. However, it was made up for to him in the face of extensive training with the Royal Guard, as the combat skills imparted to him in teaching to become perhaps Crina's best swordsman would keep him safer from harm in combat.

Skills:
  • Low Flame Manipulation (flings small fireballs at opponents mostly as ways to get in close for his blade)
  • Swordsmanship, trained with the Royal Guard in the time he was confined to the Palace.
Notable Possessions:

Other Notes: Many consider Oliver Calvarona's history to be one of tragedy. The middle child of the Royal Family, with an Older Sister and Younger Brother, Oliver Calvarona found himself heir to the throne one day as the Royal Family was targeted in a rebel attack during a festival in an outlying town they had visited to maintain public image and morale. His parents, the then Queen and King, along with his siblings all perished in the explosion. He himself survived mostly through sheer luck as his sister thrust him off the platform the family was sitting upon, while she herself was run through with shrapnel as she attempted to escape the threat herself.

For much of his young life after he was rushed away from that dangerous scene, Oliver found himself confined to the Palace grounds with little time outside its walls for his own safety. In this capacity he missed out on many traditional aspects of the Royal Family's upbringing such as attending the Academy at Cosmina for training as a Practitioner and the most astute education. Instead he received his learning from personal tutors within the palace, something he notes was perhaps why his ability as head of state lacked as he felt his education and subjects covered were not as intensive or thorough as he believed was needed.

At the same time though, he was most certainly safe as he was thrust into the position of King far before his time to take on that duty should have came. His time absent from learning at the Cosmina Academy found itself spent building a reputation among the nobility to make up for the lack of experience in his title. He also spent much of his years within the palace halls becoming close to the Royal Guard, training and associating with them often, making up in some ways for his lack of Practitioner training with an intense self ordered regime with the Guardsmen in swordsmanship.

It was in these years that Oliver would meet his first wife, the daughter of the Noble Starr Family who often made an appearance at the Palace alongside her mother, who was the authority for their family and who maintained the rather important region near Cosmina. They were a family known for well rounded commerce organization and maintenance, and for producing many wise Practitioners in their region. Quite often this girl, Astra Starr, would approach the king while alone somehow when he would wander off, something that surprised him as the many times he escaped away when free to the library or upper courtyards he had been quite careful and used complicated routes few without the training could follow. That and her boldness caught his eye, though while bold she was rather gentle and soft hearted.

Through a budding romance in their younger adolescence, they would keep in touch, even as she went to learn at the Cosmina Academy, she would return to the Palace during the times her family appeared on business and she was free. Some of these times she was accompanied by the young girl, Emilia Primrose Anca, a close friend of Astra's who perhaps even had a deep affection for her, another noble's daughter who also attended Cosmina Academy and who shared many qualities and features despite being several years younger. More times than not as Oliver found himself more and more taking on the difficult duty of state as the King, there was less time to have moments with Astra. However, Emilia incredibly would often aid in stealing them away, creating diversions and distractions at her own expense for them.

Eventually Oliver and Astra's romance flourished even at the face of the civil war. They would wed on his nineteenth birthday, making Astra his Queen, Crina's Queen. It would show then that matters of state began to improve quickly following her rise to the Royal Family, her learning at Cosmina providing a better understanding of political and economic matters than Oliver had developed, something he was thankful for as he handed many matters to her as he took to his calling working alongside High Command to handle the issues of the Civil War. Emilia Anca would eventually stick them, becoming a member of the Royal Guard surprising her family, as she became the personal guard of her dear friend Astra.

Between Oliver and Astra two children would be born, both girls, Crina's princesses and the Royal Family's next generation. However, it was clear in the years between their daughters births that Astra was growing ill rather quickly. Though she had always done well hiding it she had always been weak and ill, and in fact was the main reason why unlike her close friend Emilia she had done very poorly in any matters of training physically for martial skill during their time at Cosmina. It was less than a year at the birth of their second daughter, Alva, that Astra died from her weakening body, leaving the King of Crina alone.

And yet he wasn't.

Astra's nature of gentleness and soft touch, her wise words and beaming features never left even at the time of death. While struck by grief matters of state fell hard, and the King even lapsed in his handling of the civil war, but by his side throughout that time was the young woman of the Royal Guard, Emilia Primrose Anca, late Astra's closest friend, someone also struck by the Queen's death. Along with the king she had stayed by Astra's side as long as she could until she had to leave him alone with her in the end, but after her death she did not hold back. She stayed close to the king and the two princesses, and in the months following Astra's death her own gentleness and warmth reached him, her resemblance and kindness as she maintained composure and often came to remind him of matters he was duty bound to, sparked within Oliver once more the life that had dimmed with Astra's passing. It was just over year, spending time with Emilia and watching her care for the princesses, recalling the times they had together with Astra in their youth, and the times since she had supported him, that once more Oliver found a Queen to sit beside him.

And it was not long after a third princess would be born either.

And in the 19 years following Crina began to fall back into a state of growth. Despite the civil war, the king once more took to handling the matter with his Generals and Advisers, his new wife and Queen Emilia Primrose Anca-Calvarona having the same touch with the nobility and matters of court Astra had had, the same gentleness and wisdom, but at the same time more. In the instances the King found himself sparring or going to battle she was someone who could keep up with him. In this way Crina perhaps saw glimpse of hope of returning to order.

But the Rebellion was strong, and grew in offensive positions over the years despite the actions of both the military and court to mitigate the trouble as much as possible, to curb the fighting and stomp out those of intense resistance that were a threat to the territories free from strife. It came to the point that when the offer came from outsiders, those that the Royalty always wished to keep Crina free from being associated to, there was little choice but to accept. If he had not, the offer could go to the rebels and Crina would truly be lost, but if things could be returned to order, and the Imperials reasoned with and worked with. . . . this is where his story now lies.
