Darth Animus was a man who believed learning and true understanding could not be done from the relative safety of a classroom. To become stronger, one had to throw yourself against the perils of the galaxy, and trust your instincts to survive. The few apprentices he had trained since the fall of Kalee had not fared well under his tutelage. Either falling to the threats of the galaxy Animus had them face, or falling to their Masters own blade for their failings.
This new one he hoped would be different. He showed promise, though his talents seemed to follow more along the path of the sorcerer and assassin, rather than the warrior. This was not truly an issue, one could learn anything they wanted in their free time if they put their mind to it. Though, he doubted it would matter as much as that learned in the field.
Turning away from the freighters controls, Animus walked out of the cockpit, grabbing his mask and pulling it on before walking down to the cargo hold where his apprentice was waiting. He had kept most of the information on their trip a secret, and figured now was the time to let him know.
"Apprentice, we are approaching a mining station as we speak. It is a small facility, with less than a hundred people aboard. However, among their ranks is a Sith defector of the New Sith Order. They have escaped the purge of the old regime, and are trying to hide out here. One of the miners let us know, asking for payment in exchange for the information. We will kill them both before the day is done. This mission serves a second purpose. More then just ridding the galaxy of a traitor, it will be your first true test as my apprentice. I will be watching your actions closely, and judging your decisions. If you survive this, I will know what to focus on first when we begin your training."
