OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION

GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Organization Name: Kaine Syndicate
  • Classification: Crime Organization
  • Affiliation: Independent underworld organization loyal to Wrenna Kaine.
  • Organization Symbol: A stylized metallic gold "K" formed into a spear-like monogram within a circular crest. Dark metallic wings flare from either side beneath the letter, representing vigilance and retaliation. The symbol is typically displayed in black and gold.
  • Description: The Kaine Syndicate is a once-prominent criminal organization originating on Keldooine. Historically it specialized in smuggling, information brokerage, protection rackets, debt collection, and discreet contract work throughout Hutt Space and nearby trade routes. Following the assassination of its leader, Darius Kaine, during a bombing orchestrated by agents aligned with the resurgent Black Sun, the syndicate fractured. Most of its captains accepted Black Sun authority. Those who remained swore loyalty to Darius' widow, Wrenna Kaine, who transformed the organization into a smaller, intelligence-focused syndicate dedicated to undermining Black Sun influence wherever opportunity presents itself.

GEOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION
  • Headquarters: Keldooine
  • Domain: The Kaine Syndicate maintains influence across Keldooine's settlements, surrounding trade routes, and scattered criminal safehouses throughout Hutt Space. Under Wrenna's leadership the syndicate no longer openly governs territory, instead relying upon hidden assets, front businesses, smugglers, informants, and bribed officials. Among ordinary citizens their reputation is complicated. They are criminals, but during the elder Kaine's reign they maintained relative stability and honored agreements. Many locals quietly preferred them to more violent syndicates.
  • Notable Assets:
    • The Black Ledger – Headquarters concealed beneath an aging warehouse district.
    • Numerous legitimate import/export businesses used for laundering credits.
    • Safehouses scattered throughout Hutt Space.
    • Hidden armories and slicer facilities inherited from the original syndicate.

SOCIAL INFORMATION
  • Hierarchy:
  • Membership: Approximately 150-250 active members remain after the organization's collapse. Recruitment favors competence over pedigree. Former soldiers, slicers, pilots, bounty hunters, debt collectors, and criminals willing to swear loyalty are welcomed. Prospective members are typically sponsored by an existing captain and prove themselves through successful operations before being trusted with sensitive information. OOC the organization is open to writers interested in criminal roleplay.
  • Climate: Quiet professionalism replaces theatrical brutality. Wrenna discourages unnecessary violence, viewing it as expensive and difficult to conceal. Members are expected to think before acting, honor agreements, and never mistake cruelty for strength. Failure through incompetence is viewed more harshly than failure through bad luck.
  • Reputation: Once respected as one of Hutt Space's dependable independent syndicates, the Kaine Syndicate is now widely believed to be a shadow of its former self. Rivals often dismiss Wrenna as merely the widow of Darius Kaine—an assumption that has repeatedly proven costly. Intelligence circles increasingly recognize the syndicate as responsible for a surprising number of setbacks suffered by Black Sun interests.
  • Curios: Trusted members receive a black signet ring bearing the Kaine crest. Higher-ranking operatives possess encrypted identity cylinders containing emergency accounts, safehouse locations, and authentication codes. The rings also serve as symbols of mutual obligation—betrayal of another bearer is considered among the greatest offenses within the syndicate.
  • Rules:
    • Loyalty is earned, never assumed.
    • Honor every contract.
    • Do not exploit civilians without purpose.
    • Profit is meaningless without reputation.
    • Never cooperate with Black Sun.
    • Family is chosen through loyalty.
    • Revenge must be patient.
  • Goals:
    • Restore the Kaine Syndicate to prominence.
    • Recruit talented independent criminals.
    • Expand intelligence networks throughout the Outer Rim.
    • Recover assets lost after Darius Kaine's death.
    • Undermine Black Sun operations through sabotage, theft, and manipulation.
    • Eventually identify every individual responsible for the bombing that killed Darius Kaine and ensure they pay for their part in the conspiracy.

MEMBERS

  • Wrenna Kaine — Syndicate Boss
  • Additional captains, lieutenants, and associates to be added through roleplay.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION

The Kaine Syndicate was founded decades ago by Garrick Kaine, a former independent smuggler who recognized that Keldooine's remote location made it an ideal crossroads for commerce that preferred to avoid official scrutiny. Rather than competing directly with the Hutts, Garrick cultivated a reputation for reliability. Smugglers arrived knowing their cargo would move, debts would be honored, and agreements enforced. Violence existed, but it was calculated rather than indiscriminate.

Following Garrick's retirement, leadership passed to his son, Darius Kaine. Under Darius the syndicate expanded into information brokerage, financial laundering, corporate espionage, and protection services. While never among the galaxy's largest criminal organizations, it became one of the most respected independent syndicates operating around Hutt Space.

Darius married Wrenna, a woman many within the organization dismissed as little more than an attractive companion. In reality, she quietly absorbed years of negotiations, observing every meeting and learning the inner workings of the syndicate without drawing attention to herself.

The resurgence of Black Sun changed everything.

When Black Sun demanded allegiance, Darius refused. He believed surrendering the syndicate would erase everything his father had built.

The response came swiftly.

During a summit with several neutral crime families, explosives hidden within the meeting site detonated. Darius Kaine was killed instantly. Wrenna survived only because the blast threw her clear of the collapsing structure. Both of her hands were destroyed and later replaced with advanced cybernetic prosthetics. Her legs bear extensive burn and shrapnel scars from the explosion.

The bombing shattered the Kaine Syndicate. Most captains accepted Black Sun's authority rather than fight a losing war.

The few who remained discovered that Wrenna had been learning far more than anyone realized.

Taking command, she abandoned dreams of openly competing with the larger syndicates. Instead she rebuilt the Kaine Syndicate as an intelligence-first organization operating through secrecy, manipulation, and precision. Though far smaller than it once was, the syndicate has become increasingly difficult to eradicate.

Today, every operation serves two purposes: strengthening the Kaine Syndicate and slowly, methodically dismantling the empire that murdered its former leader.
