The role of a Jedi Watchman is one of vigilance and justice. Their duties are numerous but their focus is singular. To safeguard their assigned planet or system from dangers beyond and within.
The Jedi Watchmen are formed by the ranks of Knight and Master, and are assigned their post by the Council based upon best fit or recommendation by another.
In the past the Watchmen were recruited by way of the Sentinel, but in the era of the New Jedi Order any Jedi of any philosophy may serve as a Watchman.
The Jedi Watchmen work alongside planetary, sector, and system governments. They follow the Jedi Code and respect the rule of law as far as they can in their quest to protect their charge. Diplomacy, Community, and Information are central to the operation of a Jedi Watchman’s duty, but the way a Watchman does their duty is up to their own discretion.
The way of the Watchmen is not for the faint of heart as one is often called to face dangers bigger and grander than oneself. However, the Watchman is never alone, as those bound to the role often band together to face those larger threats that a single solitary Jedi cannot hope to defend against on their own.
