Sergei "Jack" Jachovich
"I fight so that others do not have to. I sacrifice so that those who cannot will know safety. I stare into the abyss and defy death so that good people will not know it's mar. I bear scars, pain, torment, and suffering of war so that the many may remain pure of heart and mind. It is the duty of the strong to protect the weak. It is the duty for the warrior to stand guard against the wolves at the gate. It is the duty of the guardian to light the way forward for all to see a brighter future. And it is the duty of those select and chosen few to stand, to fight for all when others can't or won't against the darkness of this world. I am worthy, and I shall not fail,"

Weaknesses
Piloting anything other than simple swoops and speeders - Pretty simple, if it stays on the ground and drives relatively like a car does, Sergei has enough knowledge to make it work. But once you start throwing verticals in the mix, way beyond him as no one has actually taught him how to properly fly. Maybe one day it'll change.
Anything beyond the most simple computer related tasks - Growing up on a back water planet in the outer rim, Sergei didn't have a lot of exposure to the latest and greatest tech the galaxy had to offer. Add into the fact that pirates and other mercenary factions were constantly harassing his homeland, he didn't grow up with a lot of luxuries. This means that he's not really adept with most advanced electronics, and while he knows how to basically operate a computer, he certainly can't fix them, and while he could probably learn this skill, it's almost dead last on his list of priorities.
Lying/Deception involved with social interactions - Sergei is extremely straight forward and exceptionally blunt. Saying he won't sugar coat anything is an understatement. Add into the fact that he hates people being two faced with him, and that he grew up in a society where your word was your bond he doesn't actually understand why people would lie. Especially to him as if you want him to do something, or want something from him, your more likely to get it from straight up asking him.
Social patience - This stems from Sergei's upbringing more than anything else. He grew up action in an action oriented environment, where people don't use fancy words or terms to make themselves seem more important. He would rather instead just have him tell him what to do, where it is, and why it needs to be done as quickly as possible. Anything else is just wasting time, and when it comes to talking, Sergei absolutely despises wasting time.
Strengths
Soldiering - Spending a little over two years in combat training, with several more under his belt in the outer rim, Sergei knows a bit more than the basics to how to be a soldier. This stems from his wide variety of zones that he's trained and fought in, giving him the experience and knowledge on how to survive, fight and win in almost any environment. His tactical sense is his sword in the fight, and his knowledge on survival and combat life saving techniques is his shield and armor. He knows that while the guy who gets the first shot off in a fire fight has the best chance of winning, however its the warrior with the most grit, tenacity, and aggression that will survive. And when it comes to being an infantryman, if you survive the fight, you win.
CQB - One of the most extensive areas of training in being an Infantryman is closing with and destroying the enemy in close quarters combat. And it is this very thing that Sergei lives for. His extensive knowledge and experience in this has given him the ability to not only succeed in this environment, but excel at being an effective killer in close quarters. Whether its with shots from his blaster, the butt of his rifle, the blade of his knife, or straight up him punching whoever to death, he will not accept defeat. Because defeat usually means death, and he'll be damned if some two bit wannabe pirate is what puts him six feet under.
Marksmanship - The most important piece of being an infantryman. As all the maneuver, training, and planning won't matter at all if you can't hit your target. And Sergei is no exception to this rule. Sergei has trained his entire military career on not only the basic tenets of marksmanship, but also learning how to utilize any weapon system with deadly accuracy on the battlefield. From shots to just under a kilometer, to shots less than a meter away, you can expect Sergei to put rounds on target.
Weapons/Heavy Weapons training - A specialization of Sergei while he was serving on the planetary defense force was his specialization in all the weapons available to the armed forces of Ord Janon, which while wasn't much, it gave him the necessary know how to operate other weapons designed for similar tasks. This included: sniper rifles, repeating blasters, rocket launchers, explosives, shotguns, mortars, and mounted weapons such as heavy repeaters. His mindset is to have one mind that can use any weapon presented before him in a way to generate offensive combat power against whoever is against him.
Appearance:
Standing at nearly 7 feet tall, Sergei comes from dock worker stock that is all very, very sturdy people. He weighs in at a solid 270 lbs, and with his background he has to eat constantly to retain his amount of muscle mass. He has his hair cut short, brown, high and tight. His eyes are brown, and his face is always clean shaven. His body is pockmarked and laced with the various scars that he's picked up, some from childhood, others training, and others more battles he's been a part of. His skin is a milky white from all the time he's spent underneath armor.
His armor at first glance is basic durasteel plating with a transparosteel face shield. However this being said it currently operates as the durasteel plates being the heavy armor on top, with a light armor weave jacket underneath to provide additional protection from heat, shrapnel and small basic stabbing instruments. Underneath that is a bodysuit that is capable of sealing itself from the outside in case of loss of atmosphere, providing basic environmental protections and breath time of roughly 25 minutes in vacuum. Add into this, light magnetic boots for managing to walk normally in zero g environments aboard ships, and a grapple gun that can be equipped for similar purposes and this armor is very utilitarian and simple. Sergei wants to later upgrade it somewhere down the line, but currently doesn't have the means to.
Personality:
"Jack" is what every aspiring mercenary wants to be. Young, full of life, strength, good and his job and seeming to bleed charisma that shows why he should be the one in charge of the unit. On the surface, he's a brand new merc that's served some time doing small jobs and is just getting into the big leagues. He's the new kid on the block that's cheerful, and always ready to serve. But Sergei is in actuality very scared of the position he's in. For the first time in his life, he's on his own. He has no one to help him, no home to go to, and nothing else to lose. The fact that out of his squad, his platoon, the entire company of special forces operators, he somehow survived. And not even because he was that good, but because when the other nation on Ord Janon overran his homelands defensive positions, and essentially murdered them all in front of him, they left him to die in the remains. Deep down he's very bitter about this, and has a deep resentment for what he considers people who take advantage of others. It's why he still works alone, taking jobs as a soldier, as he doesn't want to form real connections with people again, as he's seen what losing literally everyone is like. And he's terrified of what he'll do with his skill set the next time it happens.
This however has changed, since Jack has seen the realities of war on the galactic level, and that he himself can't fix enough of the problems or save enough people alone he's begrudgingly decided that he's now going to build and lead his own mercenary unit. This unit to him is his new family of brothers and sisters and Jack will do whatever it takes to keep them safe and alive. That being said he knows that they now have the obligation to fight for others who can't protect themselves as the galaxy still needs "A few good men," to stand against the darkness that threatens to envelope all that is good in the world. Sergei knows that in order to be able to face his past, he can't forsake the future.
Background:
Sergei began his life on a back water world known as Ord Janon. Life a child on this planet was extremely rough for the population, as being on the fringes of the galaxy with no actual ruling party meant that pirates and ruling warlords essentially made the rules for the planet. Sergei however managed to luck out with where he was born as the while the government of his "country" was a dictatorship, the ruling class was actually kind to the population and encouraged basic freedoms and rights. Wanting to serve this benevolent leader Sergei enlisted into the military at 15, being able to pass for an adult because of his large size, and their relative lack of record keeping to galactic standards.
Sergei went through initial boot camp and his school of infantry for the next year, using his physical capability and his inquisitive mind to learn all he could at the feet of veterans of the planet's many ongoing civil wars. He learned the basics of becoming a soldier; how to shoot, how to triage people in combat, and how to survive in the wild. While he wasn't the best cadet in his company, the kid had heart, never backing down from a challenge from his instructors, nor the other cadets. This drove him to spend extra time while other cadets were relaxing or practicing various religions to better himself at the craft of being a soldier. This came in the form of shooting drills, extra rounds through CQB training, and reading manuals on various forms of warfare and combat. Sergei did all of this with one thing in mind; to be the very best soldier he could be. When he lead his platoon to victory in an obstacle course race for the final challenge of his basic training the instructors were convinced of one thing. Sergei wasn't your average soldier. Immediately after graduation Sergei was taken aside with a number of recruits and presented the opportunity to do more for the army and their careers. The path ahead was warned to be dangerous, and not many made it, but the reward would be that they would become the cream of the crop of their glorious dictator's military. And so Sergei and the others agreed.
This lead to him being taken to paratrooper school, followed by a variable terrain warfare school, and finally selection phase for the country's special forces. Sergei proved through each phase of the training and selection that while he wasn't the fastest to learn, he would be the absolute last to quit, if he quit at all. During the mountain phase of the warfare school, the cadets were pushed to launch an individual movement through the mountains to test their determination to reach the slated objective. It was meant to be impossible within the time frame given, and was supposed to be a learning point for the cadets on how to make the most of an impossible situation. And Sergei almost made it on sheer will alone, collapsing due to exhaustion in the snow on a mountain top after 47 hours of non-stop movement through the mountains. This surprised his instructors immensely, as the rest of the cadets had either not made it near as far, or had given up long before the time limit was up. When Sergei was transitioned to selection phase, he was made a team leader immediately due to his ability shown thus far. With this new added responsibility, and the challenge that whatever failures his team members exhibited would be attributed to him as well, Sergei attacked this the only way he knew how. He made sure to spend individual time with each of his team members, learning their strengths, weaknesses, needs, and skills. He helped cross train them so that they would be at least proficient in all tasks, but made sure that if something required expert attention, his best was on it. And with this mentality Sergei's team blew all others out of the water. And so they were selected with a few extras from each of the other teams, and advanced onto their respective schools for special warfare. Sergei's specialty was asymmetric warfare both in supporting major combat operations and in countering enemy insurgent activities in his homeland. He learned the ins and outs of most of his country's infantry weapons, and utilize them in any physical battle space. After finally graduating from his training, and finally turning 17, he revealed to his direct superiors that he hadn't corrected the recruiter when he'd enlisted and was now actually of legal age. His chain of command, while a little surprised at the information, didn't bother to try to pass corrective action. Instead they just sent him out on his first combat mission days after he arrived to the unit. And for 5 years Sergei would serve with his country's military, earning a reputation as an eager soldier and a deadly tactician when it came to maximizing damage on the enemy. Sergei would get promoted repeatedly during his career, and then during fiascoes involving the politics of the higher ranks would get demoted to go back onto the line units. And then, it finally happened.
A local warlord consolidating power on Ord Janon, and one that had pirate support from off planet, launched an all out offensive against Sergei's nation. And Sergei's unit fought valiantly against the overwhelming odds, gradually losing ground until the final battle at the capital took place. It was here that Sergei was overseeing a platoon of regulars as his SF troopers were placed in command of the defense. They knew they were surrounded, and that death was coming for all of them. When the attack came Sergei personally manned the heavy repeater on his position, only ceasing to fire when he ran out of ammo, and began to use his rifle when his position became overrun. He killed several fighters in close quarters before being overwhelmed and beaten into unconsciousness. When he finally came to, he looked around his position and noted that while he was still clinging to life, everyone else was very dead. When he attempted to contact command, or anyone for that matter, he only received static in response. And when he attempted to find his commanders and comrades, he found the base had been pillaged and was burning. The cries of the dying still haunt him to this day whenever he thinks of this. With nothing else to do, Sergei did what his training told him to do.
Survive. Evade. Escape. It would take him weeks to finally secure transport off planet, as with nothing left keeping him there, he didn't wish to stay. And now, he wanders the galaxy with nothing but the gear on his back, the blaster rifle at his side, and the pistol at his hip. Whatever's next he hopes to one day redeem himself of what he considers his greatest "failure". But only time, will tell.
Sergei's debut on the galactic stage would be with the Republic on the planet of Kampe. There he had been just a simple soldier hired on, one of many, with unremarkable durasteel armor and a blaster rifle someone had given him. When during the assault his tank got hit and went down, Sergei himself dismounted and began organizing troopers of the Republic, most in a daze, or caught completely unawares because of the violence of it all. Once this was done, Sergei lead an assault through the canyon, seizing the initiative and pushing forward under enemy fire even with his subpar armor. This would include him using an arm mounted grappling gun to rappel up to wall mounted bunker and destroying it with a few well placed grenades. Clearing a path for the armor, Sergei would continue to push forward and press the attack, leading the charge of Republic forces to the enemy stronghold. Once there he would scale the walls and assist with the overtaking of the enemy fortress as the enemy command chain fell apart. He would capture many troops as prisoners of war, and would ensure that none were treated unfairly in his care.
His next mission would be the final assault on Byss. Going as part of the advance strike team, Sergei and a lone jedi moved in to disrupt the ritual that the enemy was performing on the planet. He and the Jedi would encounter a dark jedi covering the entrance, and the Jedi would engage the lone combatant giving Sergei a chance to slip past and try to disrupt the ritual. While he was unsuccessful in forcing the ritual to stop, an earlier interference in the ritual caused it to go awry and Sergei came in to witness the aftermath. He would assist the civilians with their evacuation and treatment, however the sight of the woman with hot coals for eyes would haunt him for a while. It would be after this that he left the Republic and went to the Confederacy of Independent Systems.
On the way to the CIS, his transport would get ambushed and he would fight off the would be pirates but not before becoming grievously wounded. After boarding the pirate's vessel and slaughtering the remaining pirates, he would meet Gianna Aegis of Naboo, who would see to him being healed, and send him on his way to meet with several suppliers in the CIS. Which would come in handy as his first official mission was one he technically wasn't even invited to, just happening to show up on the outbreak on Atrisia. It would be here that Sergei would have his first encounter with the evolved Blackwing, and would lose his entire team of commandos in the process, however completing his mission. It would be here that he would discover that life and war in the greater galaxy was nothing like his home on Ord Janon. The aftermath of this battle would force Sergei to come to terms with a truth that he'd been hiding from for a while. He wasn't strong enough alone to keep people safe. He needed men, and he needed a ship to carry them. And so would begin the creation of The Dire Wolves Mercenary Company.
Sergei would bounce around for a while after this, going from planet to planet, system to system recruiting a scientist, a ship captain, and men and women to join his outfit. His training methods were brutal, and his standards unyielding. But what became was something the galaxy had never before seen. An entire infantry company of commandos, well trained and fully armed, ready for battle. But unlike normal mercenaries these commandos obeyed what they considered the "Laws of War". They refused to use civilians as shields or weapons, they took prisoners and treated them fairly, and conducted themselves as a professional military force. Their first actual mission would be in Republic space on the planet of Hosnian Prime against Gamorean warlords where their new ship, named "The Aegis" in honor of the very Jedi that saved Sergei's life, performed admirably in the face of enemy opposition. They would drive the enemy back in space and on the ground using both superior technology and tactics and would take the fight to the enemy pigs. His next battle would be in the battle of Ophideraan, against the Serpent Masters of Ophideraan. Sergei's men had been held in reserve, but utilizing drop pods, they would perform orbital insertions and regain the offensive initiative by dropping directly on enemy lines. Then with his heavy weapons and assault teams, Sergei's men would push forward to spear head the CIS counter-attack to relieve and recover the parties aboard the crashed ship. And then a trip to Kaddak, where a pirate lord had set up shop as a wannabe king. Supporting the Knights Obsidian, Sergei's Dire Wolves would perform a stealth drop onto the planet, and breach from a different point on the fortress, forcing the king to have to run to try and stay alive and away from them. This would allow for the Knights Obsidian to advance seemingly unopposed as the enemy's resistance went into chaos as they didn't know who to respond to. Sergei would lead his men to victory after victory, proving that a small force like theirs, even if numerically not as massive as some of the other units of the CIS especially when compared to their droid armies, was key in keeping and seizing the initiative on the field. On Thracior, Sergei's men would infiltrate into the city, mapping out locations to strike and create systematic chaos in a matter of minutes. While the original vector had been to stealthily accomplish the objectives, Sergei had opted to instead take the advantage by opening an all out attack on the city, creating chaos and providing a distraction for local CIS forces to take advantage of. And while he saw some success, he certainly did have a few losses on his end, and received much push back for his decisions on the mission.
