The hunt for project Viper (Open to SJO)

LOCATION: LANTILLIES

A quick glimpse of a shadow, the poor view of the beast under the street lights, a glance at a tail disappearing around a corner. The beast was fast, always staying one step ahead. A destructive one as well, as a hunter vaulted over a smashed vendor stall. This was a game of cat and mouse that had been going on for over two hours now. Unfortunately the mouse in this game could easily tear a speeder to pieces, let alone what it could do to the hunter in pursuit.

Riley rounded the corner which the creature last turned and slowed her stride. The narrow roadway had opened up to a large market square. Dim street lights brightened some areas but made others seem darker. A perfect place for the beast to ambush from. The hunter raised her carbine and kept an eye on her heads up display as she slowly moved out into the market square. The chrono in her helmet told her that it was almost midnight. That was fortunate, considering this place would have been packed with shoppers at any other time but now it was a ghost town.

Deafening silence filled the air as Riley stepped further and further into the market. Then she heard it. The sound of claws sinking into duracrete and the low rumbling growl of a predator closing in on its prey. The hunter quickly turned and raised her carbine at the beast. And there it was, it's back as tall as she was, long strong legs that ended in dagger sized claws, a tail twice its body length that held massive strength in it. Gray boney plates covered its dark scaly hide. What unnerved her the most were its eyes, black cybernetic eyes with green iris's that glowed in the night. So here it finally was in all its terrible glory. Project Viper, a genetically engineered killing machine.

Hunter and beast squared off for several tense moments, as if to see who would flinch first. Viper made the first move as it let out a roar and lept at Riley. The hunter dodged quickly to the side, and fired a few shots at the beast. Blaster bolts did little to harm the beast as they either couldn't penetrate the boney plates or they bounced off entirely.

Letting out another roar of anger, Viper lashed out with its tail. Riley just barely ducked under the appendage which proceeded to slam into a light pole, splitting it in two. The area around them was quickly cast into darkness, only to be lighted again by blaster bolts from Riley's carbine. Bolts of blue light slammed into the beast with little effect except to anger it.

Viper launched himself at Riley again, this time giving her little time to react. The beast slammed into Riley, almost knocking the wind out of her, and clamped down on her cybernetic forearm with its sharp teeth. Riley could feel the teeth sinking into the metal of her arm with minimal effort. Grabbing the large combat knife from its sheath, she stabbed the creature between its protective plates. The beast howled in pain as it dropped Riley and backed away. Instead of continuing its assault, Viper lept onto a low roof before scaling over the side of the building. The howls of the beast could be heard getting further away.

Rily lay there on the ground for a few moments as she tried to catch her breath. This thing was far tougher than she expected. As she stared up at the night sky, her chrono beeped informing her that it was midnight. Letting out a sigh, she came to the conclusion that she couldn't do this hunt alone.

Red was walking down the dark roadway, when he heard the howls of the beast moving further away. Red looked in the direction it came from, and then saw the beast running away. He saw a figure lying on the ground. Red ran over to check if they were alright.

He had only just recently joined the SJO, and now he was taking and short break from the craziness of the Order.

Red reached the figure and looked down at her.

"Are you still alive, ma'am? If you are, are you injured?" Red asked Riley.

Location: Lantillies

Looking to explore Silver Jedi worlds for more suitable planets to trade for supplies and use as docking stations, Kat was visiting Lantillies, a busy city world ideal for trading through. It was getting close to midnight and Kat was curious about the nightlife of the planet. She had visited several cantinas till they passed their closing time and was a little tipsy so when she heard angry growling and noticed a giant monster beast running away, Kat paused and shook her head, sure that she had imagined the whole thing. However, marks on the ground and an injured person on the ground meant that Kat knew this was serious. She slapped her cheeks, attempting to sober herself up a little. It didn't work but the situation was serious so she could feel her body naturally sobering to ensure she handled the situation best she could.

Moving towards the prone person, another stranger arrived and was asking questions, Kat remained silent instead noticing the injury to the first person's arm. Cybernetic arm, if it was severely damaged, then she knew some tricks to make sure that the arm was temporarily repaired, to fully fix the arm she would have to take a few hours to examine, assess and gather the materials to repair the arm. She looked around, to be able to crunch through metal the creature also had to be cybernetically enhanced which wasn't a good sign for the people of Lantillies. Kat frowned as she crossed her arms, trying to think of the best way to handle the situation that they were in. She wasn't sure using Beast Control, if she knew it, would help in dealing with a creature part machine, part organic. Also, she wasn't very versed in Force Powers she knew there wasn't many avenues for her to approach this situation.

"So, need a hand with the little dog that is loose?" Kat smirked as she asked in a friendly tone.

Riley lay there for a moment getting her thoughts in order. That was until a figure approached her asking if she was alive. Pulling herself into a sitting position, she gave the man a nod. "Yes, I'm very much alive. Thank you."

Before she got to assess the damage and answer Red's second question, a voice caught her attention. The woman who approached asked her a curious question. Did she need help with the little dog on the loose. "What I'm after isn't a dog, it's..." Sarcasm. That was one thing Riley still hadn't completely caught onto yet. She paused for a second as the realization dawned on her. "Oh....I mean...yes. I do require assistance actually. This beast has turned out to be a little more difficult than expected."

Red nodded.

"Good. We're here to help. Also, you didn't answer my second question. Are you injured?"

Red knelled down next to her and started examining her. He started checking Riley for any injuries.

There was a soft chuckle from Kat when Riley took her literally, when the woman realised her error, she graciously accepted help from the pair of strangers. It was not uncommon for some people to try and let their ego prevent them from gaining any help. Looking curious at the guy who was persistent on checking Riley for injuries, she shook her head. "If she was injured, she would have said. Lets focus on the task at hand."

Looking over the city, she was curious to figure out where the beast went. "So, where did our dog friend come from? Seems he was enhanced in some manner, so what are we dealing with entirely?" Kat was curious about the specs and strengths of this creature so she could figure out the weaknesses that they might be able to exploit. Kat crossed her arms and thought about things that she had which could be of use in this situation.

Red turned and looked at [member="Kat Decoria"] . He examined her. He looked at the smallest things about her person, the things he looked for could show exactly what she was thinking and her personality and attitude, and the way he did this was his "hyper-observation and investigative skills". Red could tell that she had basically the same mind that he had, that she wanted to find out this beast's strengths and weaknesses, how to beat it, and to make a plan. She had a mind similar to his.

"I would like to know that too." Red admitted.

Lantillies.

Mid-Rim Territory.

Good place to start on a new plan of His. Every single move with Ravenous is not just always planned carefully out but they also were always the means to an end. It was because of that he came here not just to get a feel for the galaxy around him, to hunt, to train, to kill. It was a favorite pass time of his. The exhilarating feeling of ripping the life out from the beast was an exciting premise. Death was all around him he took it in and brought it with him where ever he went and because of that death was inside of him.

Nihilus ever tugged at him begging him to let him consume his spirit and being. The force hated him refusing to flow inside of him but his power was too much and brought the force in eating away at its power like a parasite. Ravenous knew of The Silver Jedi's Presence on this world yet had his own reasons for being here. Reasons he would not be divulging.

He leaped from rooftop to rooftop stalking his prey. He could feel its presence from inside the shadows waiting for the pristine opportunity to strike. His metal claws drug across the side of the adjacent buildings walls leaving scratch marks in its wake. He vaulted off the wall and used a mixture of his force power and physical strength to dig into the side of a tower locking down and scanning the perimeter around him for signs of the creature.

He didn't find the beast but he find someone who might. A group below one of them seemingly injured. The must have had some kind of encounter with the beast which made for the perfect opportunity. It was probably potent to remain anonymous for the time being but still he would have to introduce himself soon. And so he hung there his dark cloak billowing in the wind, truth was if he were anything other than what he was he would give a smile.

Red looked up, and noticed a shadowy figure, [member="Ravenous"] , just sitting right there. Great, it was never good whenever a shadowy figure was stalking you in the middle of the night.

Red turned to the group, [member="Kat Decoria"] and [member="Riley Reese"] . "Looks like someone's taken an interest in us." He told them.

He looked back up at the shadowy figure. "Hey! You gonna sit there creepily, or are you going to introduce yourself?" He called out.
