The House of Sleep

Rianna walked softly through the corridors of the Hospital on Alpha Mae the bustle of activity had drawn the Healer out. She felt safe here on Alpha Mae with her family, and friends.

But something ill fated was coming she could feel it she paused to watch the arrival of more patients coming in. From what planet she did not know and it did not matter. They were here and from here they would take care of them.

Malcolm came close by, “Rianna a message” Nodding she took it from him and read the words. What she read gave her chills she looked at Malcolm, “Are we certain?”

“No Mam…it is just rumor at the moment.”

She couldn’t believe what she was reading but she would take it to the one person who could confirm this for her, her riduur [member="Ordo"] . "I'll find out"

He was at their home here on Alpha Mae trying to assist in showing the refugees survival tactics, and farming techniques. If anyone knew how to draw life from dry dirt it was Ordo.

Rianna headed home thinking on what she read and trying to search for the truth using the force.

Ordo dug his hands into the soil with both hands and held it up for the refugees to see. The dirt was not the deep black but it would do. He sifted it through his fingers and then tossed the last hand full down.

"This soil is a little sandy. You want to plant something with a strong root system." He began to expalin, "If you plant something with shallow roots the first stiff breeze will undo your hard work. I'd go for tubers, turnips, and carrots, but that's just me."

The gathered people all nodded and began making out the plot for planting and what they had to plant that fit the description. Some of these folk had been in a city their whole lives but they were taking to their new lives with determination and that was good. They would need to be determined. Even the hardest work could turn up little at first. He stood and dusted off his big hands as he walked to the water cart they had hauled over and stopped for a drink. It was a good work. Helping these folks, good for the soul. He needed that at his age.

He shook out the last drops of water on the ground and watched as it was soaked up. Yeah, this plot would need deep roots for sure. And they should put trees around it for wind breakers. He paused and began to walk away to see what his ridur was up to. and maybe steal a kiss or two while the kids were in school.

She headed to where she last knew [member="Ordo"] was at upon arrival she was rewarded. He was walking out from the fields.

He always seemed at home out there in the dirt they had a relationship. He knew how to get it to yield what he wanted and it knew him intimately from all the days cultivating it to its peak form.

His ruddy face and familiar scars were a welcome sure to her. He was a giant of a man compared to her. He was her rock he held her feet to the ground providing what she needed to get through each day.

But the news she held in her hand was something that would shake him to his core. It was all she could do herself not to breakdown and fly off.

"Hello cyar'ika did they enjoy your class?" She waited as he walked towards her. She wasn't sure how to say what she needed. She was certain worry and concern were written in her face.

She was an amazing sight for his aging eyes. Her dark hair shimmered in the sunlight as she walked up. Her dark eyes like liquid grace set above her soft cheek bones. A goddess. She was a goddess made flesh who had lowered her eyes and forsaken her loft heights to grace his life. How could such kindness and beauty be his?

He walked close unable to bear the distance and lifted her into his arms. He pressed her to his chest and relished the warmth of her in his arms. She was his sun, his gentle rain, his soft summer breeze. He forgot about the refugees as they went about putting into practice what he had been teaching them and just basked in the one presence he could never tire of.

He set her back down gently and just looked at with the kind of love that was could only be found in stories.

"They learn quick." He said softly, his deep voice laced with the warmth only she could bring out in him. "They'll be alright."

He stepped back reluctantly and watched her brilliant eyes.

"How goes the hospital?" He asked more interested in her than the refugees.

There was nothing like a bear hug from [member="Ordo"] for all his great strength where he could have easily crushed her it was more like being wrapped up safe and warm. It always felt like home.

He gently set her down as she looked up into his eyes smiling she put her hand on his great barrel chest and sighed, "This hospital is going well, more patient and refugees arriving every day. I'm not sure where they are all coming from." She looked past Ordo to the fields as his students began practicing today's lesson.

She knew he was relaxed and enjoying himself today and she hated having to bring this to him but..

"Ner Riduur I have a problem." She wasn't one to be nervous not after all their years of marriage she just hated breaking his calm. "One of the transports enroute to us has not checked in. We lost contact with them in the Onderon quadrant do you have anyone in that area that can look for the ship..." She frowned, "Maeve and Dral may have been on board I'm...concerned."

It wasn't like them not to check in, and as old as they were they would be offended that their mother come looking..but there was rumor of a sith cult in the quadrant that they had not found...and she had a bad feeling.

He grew still as stone as he looked into her eyes. How had he not felt her unease before? Had he let his senses grow so dull? He placed a hand on her shoulder as the thought of his two young children in danger felt like an icy hand had clutched his heart. He nodded for and grabbed her in a hug.

"I'll get the Thantra." He said as he let go and started to move toward the landing pad near the farm. They had what they would need on board the incredible ship and they could improvise the rest.

His family was his life. He wasn't going to rest until he they would be safe.

He crushed her to his chest she laid upon him to soak up all the warmth that he offered now in this time where fears for their children had made her cold and frightened. She clung to him for the moments she needed but she knew as he did that they had to go, they had to look for the lost ship.

The Dancing Thranta it was still a beautiful ship and it met all their needs. They would need nothing except themselves. She nodded looking briefly around she reconciled herself and pushed down her fear. Silently she reached out we are coming children.

She pivoted and followed Ordo. They had seen their share of battle on one too many Republic battle fields. But this was different, this was personal. If Maeve and Dral were on the ship, they and anyone with them could be in danger.
