STRENGTHS
  • Devastation: Using Stellar energy as ammunition, the The Helios Cannon fires a deadly beam of stellar energy that slices through a target like a hot knife through butter at full power.
  • Durable: Made from incredibly durable materials making the cannon very difficult to disable.
  • Internal temperature check, automated fail-safe, and containment system.
  • secondary ion effect: Due to Stellar energy containing both Ionic and Tachyonic energies ships that are hit with its beam that aren't destroyed, will suffer the same effects as being hit by an Ion Cannon.
  • Extreme heat: Due to the type of ammunition used, the cannon's beam instantly ignites anything combustible, resulting in explosions of varying sizes depending the amount of the substance ignited.
WEAKNESSES
  • Singular: The cannon is one complete unit, housing all components.
  • Size: The cannon is essentially the ship itself making it an extremely easy target.
  • Ammunition: For the Cannon to work at all, stellar energy must be used, otherwise the cannon is completely useless.
  • Electrifying: Due to the number of electronics running through the cannon, a sufficiently powerful emp/ion weapon will render it inert, and depending on when in the firing process it is hit, this may also cause the stellar energy stored to expand. Thus incinerating it and the entire ship.
  • Long Range Primacy: Due to the weight of the cannon, The Helios Cannon is all but impractical at close range against highly maneuverable craft, meaning it has to be supported with an array of secondary naval cannons to prevent this weakness from being exploited.
  • Limited: Due to the cannon being essentially the ship itself it can only fire where the ship is facing.
  • containment field: If the containment field is damaged or breeched in anyway the collected stellar energy will expand incinerating the cannon and the entire ship.
DESCRIPTION
An immensely powerful and highly experimental weapon, The Helios Cannon fires a deep red beam which, upon contact with any surface, cuts through it like a hot knife through butter. Due to the type of ammunition used, the cannon's beam instantly ignites anything combustible, resulting in an explosion of varying size.

The weapon is ridiculously large and expensive to produce, resulting in only one ever being made and an incredibly high cost to acquire. But the trade off is a sturdy weapon made of some of the most durable metals in the galaxy, making it a very difficult target to disable.
