TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
  • Classification: Kusarigama
  • Size: Small
  • Weight: Light
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • The 'Hawk-bill' Kusarigama is a collapsible weapon/tool worn as a part of a leather bracer intended to house the implement when not in use, disguise its true nature, and to house the spool of myst-woven cable that it utilizes.
STRENGTHS
  • Phrik, that's a strong blade: Being made of phrik, the blade of the hawk-bill is capable of being utilized as a parrying implement against lightsabers, if a somewhat awkward one. Its durability extends to more practical use as well, being able to take great stresses that other blades may not be able to stand up to.
  • Versatile: Someone who has mastered the use of an implement like this would be able to enjoy a weapon and tool with an incredibly versatile nature. It could be used in close combat as a hand weapon, it could be swung by the cord and with its hooked blade snag limbs, weapons, edges of armor -- as well as being a versatile tool for climbing and grappling.
  • Myst-woven cord: The cord by which the Hawk-bill is attached to its parent gauntlet with is myst-woven, the Force given physical form. This makes it incredibly tough, strong, and gives it self-healing properties. When severed, it will use ambient force from the environment around it to reconstruct itself.
WEAKNESSES
  • Not just a Force user, a skilled Force user: It requires a skilled user of the force to utilize the Hawk-bill. It has no physical control for its release or release of the connected cord. Similar to how Trakata can be taxing on one's focus, actuation of the weapon to release the solenoid clamping the tool in place as well as a solenoid that's linked to a cable brake within the gauntlet can certainly require attention and skill to utilize.
  • Vulnerable cord: While the cord of the Hawk-bill is self-healing, this does not make it any less vulnerable to cutting attacks from vibroweapons to lightsabers. When severed, it takes a few seconds to repair itself, taking it out of action until it does.
  • Inherent Force: As the cord is comprised of the Force and repairs itself with the same, it only follows that in the presence of Force suppression that the cord will be unable to repair itself when severed.
DESCRIPTION
This weapon came about after Kisaku was exposed to a couple of new concepts under Khefiir Khefiir 's tutelage. After sitting in on a seminar in which the Jedi demonstrated the utility of having a secondary, off-hand weapon deployed by surprise, Kisaku found himself looking into concepts to mimic the advantage while playing to his strengths. After learning to weave the Force in an expedition Khefiir lead, an idea began to click with him. The Hawk-Bill was born.
