Paragon of Hell
Welcome to Hell.
She was happy, she was content in the world she helped to create. Lesser demons feared her as much as they feared Mother. They cowered in fear when she passed, a petite doll. She seemed all too innocent for the world she had been raised in. It was perfect, every bit of it. Mother nurtured, Mother protected, Mother raised a perfect little demon.
Except, Mother wanted to unite the entire realm with her, marry her to a Higher demon to solidify their power.
If this was the future she was meant to have, Elys couldn't help but wonder what was beyond the veil at least once. What demons walked in the mortal realm? What miserable creatures gave birth to her? What demon banished her into hell? The teenage girl held plenty of questions on her mind, enough to consume dark energy in order to tap into a potential she didn't know she had. Not all gifts in Hell were known, Elys knew this all too well. Just as she had the ability to chant in a language no one among them spoke. She heard it chanted in the distance, far from her, in the mist and fog. Whoever was that did that, Elys didn't know but the language had come all too natural to her without trying and the child learned just enough to help her grow stronger.
Today though, she tapped into energies she didn't fully understand but could only fear so many times. Her curiosity drew on energy, her vision blurred with images of a babe so long ago. Her hands rose, trembling against the empty air, feeling space and time around her. Perhaps it had been the veil in her world that permitted for the lighter wall between the realms or perhaps it had been something else but Elys felt the energy of the veil, of the walls between the worlds. The mortal realm lay just outside walls, it became more palpable the more she concentrated, summoned.
If the world was a playground, Elys would make the outside one hers. If she was to be a demon's Queen, she would first explore; see that lay beyond. Face the secrets of the mortals. She was still a child in many ways...
The walls against the world crumbled and weakened, lights begun to play and dance in front of her, lighting up her emerald gaze. Elys inhaled a deep breath and looked back towards the realm she was leaving ago. Mother would know soon, Mother would be cross with her but Mother would have to wait until her return before she punished her because, in the moment, Elys ran forward, straight for the barrier broken. She couldn't feel it but her body sped up against the barrier, generating speed to travel between worlds, rushing from one end to the other. Elys was running blind, unaware where she was arriving. There was no choice for that, she could have ended up in the pits of fire if there was such a thing in the mortal realms, or in the space to drift off into her death. Elys was only partly aware of the risks yet, she was aware of them none the less...
Running, she felt the vibrations of the veil on her skin as she passed through them, like tickles of light against her exposed skin. Inside the veil, Elys heard voices, whispering and screaming, calling out to catch her; to stop her. They would claim her forever, keep her there. Mother's only daughter would have none of that, she would not remain stuck within the path between the realms, she would not remain a prisoner of what lay between the worlds. She was stronger than that, the teenager promised herself as she kept running.
Instead of light, cold air followed and her vision darkened against the night. Her eyes struggled against it yet she kept running still, getting further away from the still whispering veil behind her. It would close soon, she somehow knew yet for as long as heard the voices behind her, Elys knew they could still catch her. She belonged in one end of it and she had escaped to the other end of it. The voices would not have it. The further she ran, looking back; she could see the veil become weaker, slowly disappearing. When the voices subsided, Elys looked again, the last trace of light behind her disappearing. When she looked forward, she saw nothing before she bounced off of something or someone and fell back to the ground, grunting as her back hit the ground.
"Uff," was all the words come out of her mouth at the pain.
