OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: When Sith Lord's of substantial power tap into the Netherworld of the Force there exists a chance that they will create a shadow or mirror version of themselves, a king of Sithspawn formed from their consciousness. A manifestation of the Dark Side of the Force that has been specifically imprinted on by the one who has tapped into the Netherworld.

GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Name: The Grimlock
  • Designation: Sentient
  • Origins: The Grimlock are born in the deep subconscious of their host.
  • Average Lifespan: Dependent
    • A lesser Grimlock's lifespan is tied to their host. In the event that their host dies, they too will die. There exists no known way of exterminating a Grimlock without killing the Host.
    • A greater Grimlock can live to be well over thousands of years old. It takes considerable years of leeching off their host's lifeforce for them to progress to such a point, yet the longer a Grimlock is able to leech off of a host the longer their lifespan can extend to.
  • Estimated Population: Semi-Unique {There is only one confirmed Grimlock in the known galaxy, however ancient texts describe a number of the creatures throughout history.}
  • Description: Darkness and shadow made manifest, the Grimlock are beast's of nightmares transformed into something that the conscious mind is more acceptant of. In their infancy the Grimlock have no true physical form. They exist in the living Force as beings attached to their hosts, much like a parasite hidden within the body. Once a Grimlock reaches it's adulthood they are capable of manifesting themselves in whatever form they wish. Size, shape, density, & composition are all relative to them as they draw on the Force to craft their physical form. Most Grimlock's prefer grim-dark appearances that inspire fear and awe. They are generally draped in a shadowy aura of the Dark Side with tendrils of power washing from their very essence. The appearance of a greater Grimlock is often influenced by the history and knowledge of their host, as they often know little more than what their host has experienced they are unable to form into anything outside the confines of their host's imagination.
PHYSICAL INFORMATION
  • Breathes: Has no atmospheric requirement
  • Average Height of Adults: N/A
  • Average Length of Adults: N/A
  • Skin color: N/A
  • Hair color: N/A
  • Distinctions: The Grimlock know no gender or race. Lesser Grimlock's are virtually undetectable as their only true tether to the known world is the mental connection they share with their host. However, greater Grimlock's do have a number of unifying traits. The first trait is that nearly all Grimlock's have skin that is slightly translucent, regardless of color or hue it is possible to see through these creatures, though some are more translucent than others. Another trait of the greater Grimlock is that their wrists are bound in iron-like chains that exude a shadowy aura.
  • Races: N/A
  • Force Sensitivity: All
Strengths:
  • We are the unseen: The Grimlock, by nature, are masters at hiding their presence. Even as infants they are capable of hiding behind the Force Presence of their host. They are relatively invisible to the outside eye, even from the most practiced users of Force Sense.
  • Our power is pure: They are manifestations of the Dark Side of the Force. Their presence in their host is a magnifier to the power of any Sith Lord or user of the Dark Side of the Force. They act as a nexus of the Dark Side from which wells of energy can be drawn on.
  • Age before beauty: Greater Grimlock's that are attached to a host seek to improve the body. They transmute the Dark Side of the Force into an energy source that is used to make the host stronger, faster, and more powerful than they would be otherwise. Their presence also influences the host's healing factor and helps to defend their mind from the tampering of outsiders.
  • Transformation: Greater Grimlock's are capable of shifting their appearance and form at will. The older the creature, the faster they are capable of shifting their form. A Grimlock that has been alive for thousands of years can transform in a matter of seconds where a newly matured Grimlock may take several minutes to gather it's new form.
  • The mind is open: Grimlock's have an innate ability that allows them to read the minds of almost any person they meet. An individual who is extremely adept at shielding their mind will have a better chance of guarding themselves from the Grimlock's mental assault, however it is still incredibly unlikely. The creatures are capable of using this ability to learn the fears and horrors of their enemy to project these images back at them or even worse, turn into these fears themselves.
Weaknesses:
  • Your life is ours: The sole purpose of The Grimlock is to purge the mind of their hosts by shattering their will and mental stability. Though this is a process that can take years it means the Grimlock will induce migraines, emotional instability, paranoia, schizophrenia, and all other manner of mental assault to destroy the mind. Along with this The Grimlock are Force leeches that eat off of the living Force within a host. Although this does not necessarily put a drain on an individual's power, it can damage their connection to the Force over time. The leeching of a Grimlock does not become noticeable or significant until they reach Greater status.
  • The light will not save you: Force Light and other attacks based in the light side of the Force can be hellishly damaging to these creatures, ss they are incapable of defending themselves from the light side of the Force.
  • Martial weakness: A Grimlock may appear as a great bantha if they so wish, yet their physical strength is extraordinarily low and no matter the form this will not change. A Grimlock is extremely weak in open combat that utilizes any kind of physical might. While they can be proficient in Force Spells and such, they will never be warriors wielding a lightsaber or Vibroblade.
  • The host is the Key: Lesser Grimlock's who are separate from their host are likely to die almost immediately. Their bodies do not possess the fortitude to exist in the living world for an extended amount of time. While the greater Grimlock is capable of survival without a host, their power cannot grow when they are no longer tethered with a host. They can always learn more information but their presence in the Force and ability to command it will not be able to improve.
CULTURE
  • Diet: Parasitic: They feed on the life force of their hosts as well as their very connection to The Force.
  • Communication: Telepathy is the primary means of the Grimlock, however they are capable of speaking any language their host has learned.
  • Technology level: Technologically illiterate
  • Religion/Beliefs: General ideology of the Grimlock can differ from case to case, however there is a unique theme among this species. Every single Grimlock is a beast of envy, that wishes to take control of their host by dominating their mind and destroying every fabric of their being only to replace them in the living world.
  • General behavior: They are without Creed and inhibition. Selfish and envious beings who know nothing of autonomy or initiative, they are often overtaken by a certain notion such as rage, envy, greed, lust, gluttony, love, sadness, or pride. Although they are extremely emotional creatures they are usually very skilled at hiding this factor, especially in their infancy when they have yet to truly come into their own power. They have no means or wish to reproduce or exist as actual beings of the Force, their only wish is to live in the realm of the living in some way, shape, or form that usually entails taking over the body of their host.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
There exists no known official record on the Grimlock. In the modern galaxy there are only stories. Tales that have been told to children since they were old enough to walk. The Grimlock are often explained as ghouls of nightmare who appear when a Sith Lord tampers with the Netherworld of the Force. No one knows if their existence was the result of some kind of experimentation or if they are an organic product of The Dark Side.

The first of these beings were spotted in the early days before The Old Republic. The Sith Lords of old were searching the depths of the Netherworld by performing Spirit Walks and certain rituals. Time and time again the ventures would end in failure or at best, mediocracy. They would never uncover the certain power they were searching for. However, every now and again they would uncover something else. In the twisting Nether of the Force they would birth a child of darkness, a Grimlock. The Grimlock's would spend their infant years hiding in the depths of their soul. They would often act as a conscience or counsel, guiding the Sith to a path that would benefit the Grimlock or steer them clear of any choices that could mean pain for their parasitic life form. So many Sith whose genius was exchanged for madness. Most were chalked up to falling to the temptations of power and losing themselves to it. However, many people wonder if these Sith were merely possessed by a Grimlock and soon lost a decade long war that they did not even know they were fighting.

This is exceptional, but after several reads I'm left with the belief that this straddles a fine line with regard to this Codex Rule:

Force Powers may not be submitted to the Codex.

Intent: When Sith Lord's of substantial power tap into the Netherworld of the Force there exists a chance that they will create a shadow or mirror version of themself. A manifestation of the Dark Side of the Force that has been specifically imprinted on by the one who has tapped into the Netherworld.

This is describing a novel application of the Force, which is what we want to avoid codifying in the Codex. As such, I'd ask you to clarify here that you're creating something akin to a Sithspawn (a freakish Netherworld creature) and not a new Force Power.

The Grimlock are often explained as ghouls of nightmare who appear when a Sith Lord tampers with the Netherworld of the Force. No one knows if their existence was the result of some kind of experimentation or if they are an organic product of The Dark Side.

I'd prefer if this focused on the Grimlock as an organic product of the Dark Side, but I can appreciate wanting the air of mystery here. I'd suggest minimizing the "tampering" part so that we get away from the "how they are made" and focus more on them as a species.

Those are my thoughts. Please let me know if you have any questions. Otherwse, please tag me when you have completed any edits.

So I added into the intent that they are indeed sithspawn, no problems there as that is the intent.

However, I'd like to request leaving the historical information as it is if at all possible. If this was merely a descriptive portion I could agree, but what is the point of the historical information if I can't explain what creates them?

Is that acceptable?
