The Great Freight Robbery (Open)

Tap, tap, tap.

Joshua tapped his foot impatiently, the faint sound of his music could be heard through the headphones strapped around his neck. He was waiting for his little sister and whilst he'd call her his little sister he really meant that he was older by oh... Seven minutes. Still; older nonetheless and it's a fact he'll never let go -- not around her at least.

Where are you? He thought about it to himself, his foot tapped more and more, louder and louder as he waited for his sister's arrival. They were on board a large starship carrying all sorts of valuable cargo. The twins were hired to guard said valuable cargo and although they might've found themselves on the end that stole the goods this time around they were being paid to protect it. Kind of odd how the galaxy worked. One minute you're committing a crime and then the next you're preventing it. Of course where credit goes so do they.

It was a simple job with good pay. They sit on board as the ship goes from point A to point B and get a couple thousand credits to split before heading off to the next job. There was something fishy though. The people that hired them wouldn't say a word about what they were guarding and more so some of the crew did not seem like the honest type.

They seemed more like smugglers than merchants. Still; credits were credits and he wasn't about to ask questions that might find him without money and instead given a black eye or broken back.

"Where the hell is she?" He finally asked aloud. Shaking his head he put his earphones back on, the ambiance of the starship drowned out by the sound of music.

Click, Clock, Click, Clock...

Five minutes ago, not that far away from the checkpoint. The room is light blue and metallic; The floor chiseled. Upon a sole steel table a single crate lay. Elliot is already armoured; Almost fully geared up. If anything happens at all it will most likely be inside a ship. The crate is popped open with a satisfying click. Behind her, the clock ticked away steadily. The young woman smirked to herself as the small array of firearms presented themselves before her.

Eliott_Lilly_13a.jpg

An advanced slug thrower; Penetrative rounds - Two fire modes; Fully automatic and three round bursts. The noise behind her was already getting on her nerves; Who even had these old clocks hanging around? And why here? The weapon was a Wartner M.34 Sub-Machine gun, and it was the first thing she grabbed. In her belt-sided holster she planted a standard issue short ranged blaster and next to it a clean combat dagger. Most of her gear was painted pale grey. She was ready, and her eyes escaped to the clock. Only a few minutes before she should go meet up with her brother. Bah. Out of the room; Through the hallways. The pace was brisk.

"Where the hell is she?"

As if heralded by his question, she stepped through the entrance at that exact moment, a smile on her lips. "Who, me? Don't say you've been missing me?" She noticed he was listening to music, as always. For once they were on a ship which did not make a lot of noise on its own but there he was, wasting the one opportunity of quiet they had. Her gun was already off safety, her eyes looking to a data monitor nearby - looking for any signs of trouble.

The tone of her voice was difficult to hear over the sound of music. Joshua pulled down his headphones, placing them back around his neck as he spoke. If things continued to go according to plan as he hoped they would then the two of them would have each other's company the entire trip.

"Miss you? Nah, I'm just looking out for you. It's what big brothers are for, right?" If she was going to tease him then he would do the same thing back.

Still; his mind wandered back to the man that hired them... What was so important about this freight that they needed armed guards on board. It made sense that they might want an escort of fighters to protect from piracy but unless they're going to be boarded by a patrol or perhaps the risk of an inside job, it left a lot of questions. Joshua and Elliot Haimes weren't exactly a proud name being tossed around the market. They were the two who took whatever jobs they could through whatever channels they had access to.

If it meant food on the table and clothes on their back they'd take the job as long as it paid. Sometimes he wished they could've just been normal. Go to school, get a job, and work your way up until you're living comfortably. Then again they wouldn't have all the travel experience and pretty sights.

Heh. "Any of this seem right to you?"

[member="Elliot Haimes"]

With her eyes still peeled at the info screen she shrugged. "How could it seem right? The whole bunch is sketchy. Having some mercs guard your cargo makes sense, but usually you wouldn't have hired guns on your own ship unless you're looking to hire. They are either expecting boarding, mutiny or perhaps they're just green at this whole deal; Nervous and all." She wondered for a moment how long it would take before something bad happened, but for now everything seemed tranquil. Perhaps they should go for a patrol on the ship; See if anything suspicious was going on or just get a feel of the ship.

She raised her voice as she leaned up against the wall. "Don't you use that old excuse, we both know you're the one who always gets us in trouble. It's almost like a supernatual power."
Her lips turned neutral as she gazed over a map of the ship. "I've seen other freelancers on the ship. And I don't blame the crew for not trusting the captain; Nor the other way around. Nobody on here seems entirely trustworthy or too resourceful. This map isn't updated either; Look here. This entire section has been remodelled. The old cantina seems to be non existant now."

As she stopped speaking, she pushed herself off the wall and looked to her brother, waiting for a response.

"You're right." He spoke plainly, a bit quiet but still loud enough to be heard clearly.

Her thoughts were just as his but at the same time they needed the money. What good was complaining going to do? "Anyway, let's say we do our job and make sure nothing funny is going on." Grabbing his assault rifle and hoisting it over the back of his shoulder like some showoff he walked over to the doorway opposite of the one she came through.

Turning back he looked to his sister, there was a bit of concern but he knew she could take care of herself. Just sometimes he wished that the two of them wouldn't have to be at risk together... Because that way if a job did go wrong at least one of them would get paid; not both putting their lives on the line. Wishful thinking.

He recalled what she said earlier, about the idea that they might be green. Honestly; it made perfect sense considering the outdated maps. But why would someone hire an inexperienced cargo captain for goods that were apparently too valuable to speak of. He had a few ideas but wasn't about to start flapping his gums. Perhaps Joshua just had a bad habit of over-analyzing every situation and expecting the worst, he could call it caution but honestly it rooted from his anxiety.

It seemed like the two were heading off for a patrol. Not much to do in here, anyways, the sensors would catch any glimpse of enemy ships before they could in this room. The window was facing a silly direction and would not help them much. At least they could make sure nothing fishy was going on in the ship itself; And perhaps find a better vantage spot - further back in the ship ideally.

Elliot calmly walked over to the opposite side of the room, grabbing a cup of Kvikcof, the cheapest coffee branch she could name. Murky, strong, yet baked. Despite the less than pleasant aftertaste the coffee still did what it was supposed to and Elliot frowned lightly, taking a long gulp, letting her gun hang in its bandolier.

Perhaps they were a bit too suspicious when it concerned their jobs but hey, it would not be a stretch to say it had helped them out more than it hindered them. Especially not around these types of fellows. With a nod she moved towards her brother. "Let's head out."

Jaster was forced to purchase a vary exspecsive cloaked shuttle for this operation. So small he could only bring four men on with him. They entered through the rear of the ship where they were informed was the lease sensored area. They seemed correct as Jaster emerged from the airlock, his men began to secure the hall way. The Mandalorian and his Marines were in search of their stolen goods, the objective, classified.

They moved down the hallway not saying a word, suddenly two male troopers walked out of a conjoining hallway. They took cover behind some loose metal the broken down ship had around, even pillars could cover the large men. As the Guards moved away from them Jaster ordered a silent take down. Two Mariens layer down their weapons and sneaked behind the two male guards. Reaching closer they pulled out their knifes, this caught the guards attention as they tried to turn around. The marines were faster though and cut the men's throats. They proceeded to drag the body's into a seemly vacant room, too dark to know what it was meant for.

The men and Jaster continued to search the ship for the cargo.

Scene
It started with a shimmer, then out of the bleak of hyperspace two Crusader Class Corvette's emerged. Before they even began to hail the ship, the heavy laser cannons began to fire upon the ship's engines and hyper drive. A few ships began to exit hyperspace with the Corvette's.

Character
Cadan stood at the bridge of one of the corvettes. He looked out the window and pointed and the ship that they wanted to rob. "Make sure our sheilds are up. Fire at their engines and hyper drive, I want to board them now!" He barked the orders to his crew making sure that they understood his orders.

Thraxis was sitting on on one of the chairs in the bridge, his eyes filled with eagerness, almost jumping with excitement at the possible bloodbath that might ensue. His eyes flicked as he saw the blasts of light fly through the emptiness of space as they flied to the enemy ship.

As Thraxis heard the order barked he jumped from his seat, a half smile grew over his face as he started to sprint to the tube where they would board the enemy vessel, he would be yelling orders towards any men he ran past to follow along, they were pirates, they were always ready to spill blood. As he arrived at the docking tube he would look to the men he had gathered on his way there, at least three people were willing to follow through with the assault, he looked to see his own squad were already there waiting to follow Thraxis into the heat of battle. At least 30 men, armed to the fang and ready to spill blood. Though as insane they were, it was often that Thraxis needed to remind them of their motto, "We hunt those who fight, we slaughter those who speak up, and we let those who are afraid weep in their pain. But above all. We do not harm the children, for the future we let live to see their forefathers pain. Understood?!" he would yell, hearing from his men them echo back his words, it took a while to ingrain those words into his men, and even longer to get them to understand what half of the words meant.

Air sprays from the air lock conection into the vaccum of space disconecting from the corvette. The D15 mantis patrol craft spins off speeding towards the Frieghter, its flickering engine illuminating the dreary devoid of space, The Jackals, they had already began blasting away at the target. This was not a shock to him, it was simply how the Jackals done their job.

Tiali would laugh to him self "All bang, no finesse."

Ka-Aver was sitting strapped hard to a chair in the corridor in one of the Jackal Corvettes launching the attack. As the heavy canons started blasting he let out a heavy sigh. He was a seasoned pirate on his own but he still hated this part - the Flying.... then it fell silent and Ka-Aver sniffed, more out of habit then to actually learn what was going on. The ship shook as it forced a docking procedure with the targeted vessel. A metalic sound spread across the corridors of the ship. A sound Ka-Aver knew well.

The corridor started to fill up as the ship pirate crew started to get ready.

Then Thraxis ran past barking his orders. The Weequay warrior snapped out of his thoughts. Those words felt logical to him But they spoke very fast. Too fast for him to keep up. He instead let out his approval via pheromones. If any other Weequay would have been close they would know that Ka-Aver accepted the wise thraxis words and he gladly fell in with the death wishing crew.

With a flowing motion he pulled loose the staff on his back and with a flip of his thumb its edges snappet out and the glaive ejected from its sheat with a deadly glimmer.

"Yuz... we zlaughterz... " he hissed and followed [member="Thraxis"] down the docking tube.

The ship shook, explosions were very loud and even noticeable. At this moment Jaster was pissed, it couldn't have been his Group, they were still an hour out. So another group hoping to steal the cargo was out there, but Jaster couldn't tell who. His communications on a open channel would let the ship know his location and with so few men, it could end bad. He stayed off comms, the threat was still to high. They needed a place to lay low so not to get caught by guards rushing to the airlocks, Jaster needed to reach a cargo room off the beaten path. He sliced into a terminal, got the blueprints of the ship and headed to a small area that seemed to be off the map. From the description is seemed to be a remodeled room, not even on the map. Could be they took the whole thing out, or could be just a safety vault, but they were close and that meant best place to hide for now.

"Men, follow me," Jaster waved to his marines, he used hand signals to motion his men into a defensive walking pattern. Boarding mission were their specialty, hallway safety was muscle memory for the marines.

Joshua pressed onward as the two began their patrol of the starship. Nothing ever seemed to go according to plan, on the bridge there was panic as suddenly two Mandalorian-make corvettes began their assault on the vessel. As with any freighter the shields were exceptionally strong but that didn't mean they were going to hold out for very long under this kind of fire. A rear-mounted laser cannon returned fire in a somewhat meager attempt to fend off the attack. Engine's were at full thrust, hurtling the freighter through space but not enough to escape the clutches of the quick corvettes.

There was one bright bit of hope for the crew. Whilst the unknown assailants were aiming at disabling their engines the communications were still functioning.

"We are being attacked! This is a civilian freighter designated Bravo-Four-Seven-Three-Delta-Delta-Charlie-Five. Repeat, we've come under attack; two starships, we have civilians on board!" The emergency broadcast went out across the stars for anyone who might pick it up. Of course this was risky business for the the captain who has no idea what cargo is being held or who all the hired hands actually are.

Meanwhile the man himself was started by the sudden assault. He had a gut feeling that this wasn't right. "Damn!" He cursed, kicking the wall with his steel boot and leaving a minor impression. His eyes went back to his sister, making sure they got out alive was his first concern -- not the money. A hand went to wipe the sweat off his brow before he armed himself with his assault rifle.

"We gotta get off this boat."

The starship shook visably when it came under fire, and Elliot placed her hand on the wall, trying to stay in balance. "Blasted, who would have thought. This thing will be ripped to pieces." She spat on the floor next to her and looked to her brother.

Thinking back on the map, she tried to find the shortest route to safety...

"This way, come!" Her hands sought in the handle of the sub machine gun as she started moving down the corridors, whose meager lights were now flickering. "There's a small escape pod bay near the cargo room, it's our best shot!"
Her body moved by instinct, her eyes trained on the pathway before them.
"Of course, they a probably heading for the cargo hold as well. We'd better hurry, it's a race."

All over the ship, the disoriented crew and their hired guns desperately tried to fend for themselves ; But it seemed this mission was doomed to fail.

The return shots bombarded Cadan's corvette. With a quick glance at the computer screens the shields power would be displayed at a solid 97%. "Keep up the fire!" Cadan would look towards one of the higher up crew men, Cadan motioned for him to come towards him. "You over here now."

As the man reached Cadan, he looked him up and down. "Hold down the bridge, I'm going down with the boarding party." The man order the crew to continue firing at the engines and hyper drive.

With that Cadan turned, and walked down to Thraxis. Upon reaching him Cadan would tap him on the shoulder. "Need a hand friend?"

Jaster and his marines found the area where they figured to find safety, there was none. It would seem that the wonderful designers took out that room and just placed a wall. So they couldn't hide any longer, they were still ahead of the oncoming guards. They would need to rush to the cargo area and look for the stolen cargo. Then load that said cargo into the escape pods and launch into space and wait for Jasters escort group to arrive.

The escort group was still at least 40 minutes out and launching too soon would mean the possibility that they be blown up by the attackers. Jaster looked at how many little of the soldiers he had. They needed to send someone to the bridge to kill everyone there, just in case they knew what the cargo was.

"Ka'an, head to the bridge, kill this who resist and those who know what the cargo is," Jaster then planned more, "set explosives on the manafest terminal, this stuff needs to stay a secreat," he looked at the rest of his men as the other ran off to fulfill his duty, "we head to the cargo area and search for our stolen stuff, you two, watch the door as we look for it, we can have people interupt us."

Jaster waved to his men and they rushed to the cargo area, half sprint to conserve their energy of made contact with enemy.

As the boarding team fuse team had finished its job the hull was breached and the pirates hoarded themselves into the freighter. Ka-Aver not meaning to miss out on the raid ran passed an ally just to see his stomach blown open by a defending small but seemingly well equipped security force.
killzone2_000b.jpg

Realising they would be stepping right into a barrage of fire from the waiting guards Ka-Aver took a leap to the right, ending close to a hallway, he threw himself inside it avoiding the hostile fire. Sniffing he sensed a prescence just behind the next corner. He moved his left foot along the floor, sweeping his vibroglaive from the lower right side and upward, pre-positioning its sharp and heavy edge right where the human came to be with his head the second later. The attack cut the mans head of and Ka-Aver turned with a flowing motion preparing for the next. But no one came, he heard steps running in the other direction though.

Grinning he looked back taking note if any of the leading pirates would take charge of the situation anytome soon.

Thraxis would see one of his comrades blown apart, quickly he snapped a command to is men, "Blow them to pieces!". As soon as the words escaped his lips a storm of lasers flew through the air, in that second he looked to see the resistance quickly dispatched off.

Thraxis looked to his wounded comrade, quickly moving his gaze over to the rest of his men, picking out three soldiers, "Take him with you to the medical bay, there should be on somewhere on this ship." he would look to the rest, simply nodding his head, they would start to march forward, though he got the front line to pull out their sonic pistols, the rest held blasters.

Tiali took flight towards the freighter flying extremely close to the hull, Tialis ship slows down to a stop just above the hull. The airlock on Tialis ship extends out to the hull latching onto It. The end of the air lock tunnel begins to glow shining red the laser cutters begin to do there work cutting through the hull making a small opening for Tiali to enter the ship.

Tiali kicks the cut area pushing it to the floor of the ship soon to follow is Tiali, pressing a button on his helmet connecting a com link to Cadan
"I'll secure the cargo." Disconnecting from Cadan. Tiali connects to his astro droid in his ship "R9 take the ship be careful and be ready to pick me up."

Readying his LL-30 pistols he begins to carefully make his way to the cargo.

Ka-Aver nodded at [member="Thraxis"] and joined in with the gang jogging forward. He held his glaive in a tight grip, prepared for ranged fire.

"Yuz bozzman. Iz the cargo thiz wayz?" he asked pondering where the hell in the freighter they were...
