The GrandMaster's Office

Rebellious Vanguard
Ventasia sauntered down the hall, stopping for but a moment as she saw something covered in hair step into a door and another man remain outside. "I'm just gonna assume this is the right place.." She had been summoned by the Jedi Grandmaster. Most would be either worried, or ecstatic. She was neither. She simply couldn't care one way or the other. In all honesty, the only reason she even showed up for the meeting is so she wouldn't be bombarded by messages to meet with the man. Her eyes rested on the male standing outside the office for a few seconds, examining him before scoffing and turning her back to him. Considering she didn't know him, he was of no concern to her. It didn't help that he didn't look special to her in the least.

Without a word said, she stared at the door before her, awaiting it to open. All she wanted was for this meeting to begin and end. Ventasia was no fan of Darron, and this wasn't about to change.

"Y'know," said the Warden of the Sky, "if you wanted to turn yer back on me, it's not like this is the best room for it. Kinda small, right? Not a great view from the window. Right now it looks like yer starin' at a ficus plant. Me, if I wanna ignore someone, I just kinda zone out. Sit back in a chair, stare at the ceiling, think about instinctive astrogation. The secret to ignorin' someone isn't to look away from'em, it's to look toward somethin' else. Take that as metaphorically or literally as you want.

"So what brings you to the principal's office, Red?"

Rebellious Vanguard
A partial turn of her head would put the obnoxious male in her peripheral field of view. Her eyes narrowed slightly before turning away from him once more. "Ignoring you would imply that your actually worth paying attention to. And believe me, your not someone that interest me in the least. As for why I'm here, that doesn't concern you, now does it?" As per usual, Ventasia could care less of anyone's opinion of her, and this random male was no different. Her tone couldn't have been more cold if she had wanted it to, and her body language told even more of the story. She was here for one reason, and she wanted that one reason to vanish quickly.

His eyebrows rose. "Guess I didn't need to ask that question. Burgeoning egomania and impulse control issues?" He clucked in mock sympathy. "There there. You'll grow up sooner or later, don't worry."

"I have no idea what you are honestly talking about Mak, I knew you over twenty years ago before I was frozen. Why do you insist on saying it's been seven hundred years? I was frozen in carbonite for twenty, thats why I appear to be so young."

A confused expression rolled over the GrandMaster's face. Why in the Force does he keep saying its been that long? Was there some sort of time event or something? Confusion wracked him for another few moments as he leaned forward in his seat. He could remember a few moments earlier the man waiting to see him after Mak, that man had been laughing. Had this been the reason? A Jedi Master confused was nothing to laugh at, and Darron would see to it that his former comrade would be attended to. After all, Mak Manto could be a valuable resource and member for the Order if his head was on straight.

"Listen, you can ask me anything you need of me. As long as you agree to not cause any trouble..we are accountable to the Republic and I don't want to entrust you with responsibility and see you waste it. Can we agree on this at least?"

A deep sigh escaped her lips as she turned her head partially, glaring at the male from over her shoulder. "Issues? Grow up? You do realize that I could squash you like a bug and have no second thoughts about it. Or are you too incompetent to realize when your just outmatched?"

Jorus yawned hugely. "Like a bug, eh? Judge me by my muddy boots, do you? Red, I've flown across the universe. I've faced Sith Masters and Nightsisters, rakghouls and soulless gingers and psychopathic self-righteous Jedi Masters. I rode a Duinuogwuin through hyperspace. Red, you are welcome to try."

Rebellious Vanguard
The hazel pools within her head rolled, showing her obvious annoyance as she returned to face the door once more. "None of that, has anything to do with me. And your quite arrogant to think I'd honestly waste my own time on the likes of you. Come back when your actually have something I want. Then I'll drop you dead where you stand. Otherwise, mind your own."

"I'm back in service again, aren't I? I'm here to help, Darron. I serve the Jedi Order, always have and always will. But there is one thing I might need. Information. I haven't been able to find anything on Je'gan Olra'en. You wouldn't happen to know if he's still alive or has anything he's left, have you?"

@[member="Ventasia Terana"]

"Naw, Red, you're goin' about it all wrong. You either ignore me entirely, or you say you can squash me like a bug. Interested, not interested. Interested, not interested. Gotta pick one, because those are mutually exclusive, and the more breath you waste on tellin' me I'm a waste of breath, the more I start to think you're paying more attention than you want to let on."

Jorus leaned back in the waiting room chair and tossed a smirk at the receptionist, lacing his fingers behind his head.

"You wish to return to active duty my old friend? I won't make you go through all the tests I had to upon my return to action. Just make sure to help out with some of the Padawans, and re-acclimate yourself to the events in the galaxy. If you need any help with what the current state of affairs are, please let me know. As to a room and board, it has already been set up for you. Should you need to go to Illum to make another lightsaber that can be arranged as well."

At the mention of Je'gan Olraen the Jedi Master paused, and considered his next words carefully. "Well Je'gan has been missing for two decades. He is the reason I was frozen for two decades, and no one knows where he is. Or if he is even alive for that matter. I was given a holocron of his that he made, at first it was a generic gatekeeper with general knowledge. Yet the other day it activated on it's own accord and Je'gan was speaking on it." Darron leaned forward on his desk towards the Thisspiasian and let his voice get extremely quiet as he continued. "Let me look through it first to make sure there is nothing dangerous on it, and I will pass it along to you for you to borrow for a short time. If you remember me and him stood as brothers, I would see it stay in my possession until I pass from this galaxy. I will let you borrow it though."

With that said, he leaned back in his seat comfortably. "So do you have any questions for me?"

"No, that answers them. Just come to me when you feel the holocron is safe and I'll talk to you later. May the Force be with you, Master Wraith."

Bowing, Mak slithered from the office, and as he did, he turned to Jorus, pointing in.

"It's your turn, Merrill."

Jorus slouched up from his chair, if one could be said to slouch, and nodded to Mak, then entered Darron's office with a wink at the angry ginger.

"Hello, Grandmaster," he said. "You don't know me, but I knew Shule. I'm a Knight, I work for Omega Pyre, and I'm wondering if you've got some advice for me. Nothing confidential, no Jedi secrets, nothing like that."

"May the Force be with you Mak Manto."

He watched as the Jedi Master left the room, and the new man walk in. He had an air of experience about him, as if he had seen the galaxy and most of her secrets. Azure eyes followed him intently to his seat, and Darron gave his full attention as he listened to him. He knows Je'gan? Who all didn't you know my friend?

"Well if you are acquainted with Je'gan, then I see no reason not to give you advice."

Jorus nodded and sat down, gathering his thoughts.

"Like I said, I'm a Knight, but it's taken me a lot of years. I'm crap with the Force. I can't do anything with telekinesis, energy, healing, lightsabre fighting -- you know what? It's probably easier to list the things I can do, and it's a short list. Number one, I can make myself faster and stronger and all that while I'm fighting hand-to-hand. Number two, instinctive astrogation. They're literally the only things I can do with the Force.

"Now, I don't really have a problem with that. The problem, I guess, is that there aren't too many people who can teach me more about instinctive astrogation, and that's where I want to put my focus. I learned from Wardens of the Sky and Duinuogwuin, and you would think they know a lot about how to guesstimate a hyperspace course with the Force, but I want to know more. And I have no idea where to go. I don't know if the Jedi have some pointers -- Master Manto gave me a few, some of it useful -- but yeah. I'm kinda at loose ends here. Don't know where to go to find a teacher who can teach me what I need to know."

A simple roll of her eyes was the response given to the male as he stride past her into the office Ventasia shook her head as her fall on the receptionist. "What a moron. Make sure your Grandmaster knows I'm here." With those words, Ventasia stepped back from the door, taking a seat as watched and waited for her own turn in the principal's office.

"So you're talented in the Force, but only with a few select skills? Believe it or not, I can see the value in a skill-set such as yours. A shame Omega Pyre hired you, you could be quite the Jedi navigator if you chose to serve peace and not profit."

The GrandMaster meant no offense with his words, he always sought to bring others into the fold. Not for the Order, but to better defend the galaxy. A man of Jorus skill would be quite the man to have on your side. Many Younglings and Padawans wouldn't see the wisdom, but that was why they were neophytes in the Force. He knew first hand it was better to be skilled in a few things than to be a jack of all trades. Individuals of that ilk usually ended up being Master's of nothing. Or so the old saying goes...

Noticing he was getting off track, he turned his thoughts to instinctive astrogation. I don't' see how I'll be much help here, he thought. Still though, Jorus had sought him out so he would do his best. "Well from all the ancient texts I have read on the subject, and that is very limited material. It is like most powers of the Force, in that it requires an utterly clear mind, and absolute focus. I would imagine one would need to pre-visualize, and focus on the intent to keep themselves safe. With most abilities in the Force, you simply need to allow it to help you. You can't Force the issue, and with such a power I could see how stress would factor in to messing up."

Trying a different tact, Darron posed a query.

"What do you know of it Jorus?"

Jorus snorted. "Peace over profit? Boss, I'm a Warden of the Sky. I've spent my whole life keepin' the spacelanes clear, but it doesn't pay the bills or keep my kid in diapers. It was either take a paycheck with the Pyre or work for the Hutts -- I'm sure as feth not in it for profit, with the expenses I've got. No offense, but you're the first Jedi I've ever met who didn't make it instantly clear to me that I'd get turned into a clone of every other Jedi if I signed up.

"That," he said reluctantly, "and I've been hearin' some awkward things about how the Jedi and the Republic are handling Contruum. And a few other places. When the Pyre adds a planet to the Protectorate, it's because were in fringe space and they want a protector, and we don't touch the local government much if ever. The Republic's lookin' awfully...grabby. On Contruum, my sources tell me yer basically backin' a terrorist uprising with radical classist roots. When it comes time for the land redistribution, lemme know. OP's got a great PR consultant, and you're gonna need one. See, workers' revolutions don't just see their one little planet in classist terms. They're gonna see the whole Republic that way. Maybe they'll pick the Jedi as the oppressive upper class, leechin' off the labor of the proles. Or maybe they'll see the Jedi as a disenfranchised minority an' the Senate as the oppressive elite. You never can tell with Mar'xists." Jorus grimaced. "Sorry, guess I been spendin' too much time around Linna Beorht.

"But, like...the Republic straight-up sacrificed tons of workers and untrained irregulars at Contruum. I'm hearing some real horror stories about NRI's crap there. Bombing assassinations? And dude, Cato Neimoidia?" The Warden ran his hands over his face. "Bro, I'm not wild about transit taxes, but just 'cause the government put a little transit tariff in place, you and your people went in and ripped up the planet, put your own little friend into power, straight up neocon poodoo. Like, the Jedi said 'oh, there's a planet whose government has this one policy we don't like, let's invade.' What? Like, seriously, what? You got played, bro. You got roped into some dark poodoo over there.

"Thanks for the advice. That's...actually really helpful. 'Making it happen' has totally been my focus, an' that's a problem. Not sure I could spell out what I already know. Lot of it didn't come to me with words. There was this Duinuogwuin..."

It was then with barely a word spoken to anyone other than the Receptionist that took down his name and reason of his coming here. Ronin enter the Grandmaster office a few moment shy after missing Master Manto had left. That upon entering he then sat down on the sideline watching the redhead across from him and few others seated all round. With great care, keep into account their appearance and action that he relegated to memory for now. As he silently sat somewhat bit impatiently on the sideline as in his mind ponder the council words and reason for him being here.
Which on all account was not so much for fact of extending any pleasantry but simple fact of get down to business. Where in although Master Sky had volunteered to be appointed as his custodian. There was still the side probationary stipulation of his having be assign training and evaluation by some the other Master. That brought him out to be here today on his own.....outside the Grand Master's office. Wait his turn to be granted audience with him to discuss these matters.

"Well I'm sorry I couldn't be much help, if you need anything shoot me a holo message Mr. Merrill. Good luck with instinctive astrogation, and I wish I could better defend the Republic. I can't though, your points are valid and ones I've been thinking on for a while. Have a good day."

With that Jorus left, and Darron called the next person in.
