Welcome to the Grand Melee, noble champions!
The Melee is an ancient tradition of the Korathi people, traditionally used to select the finest warriors in a group of would-be soldiers for service as the personal guard of the ruling elite. With the dawn of modern culture and "Civilization" it has faded into a mere legend, used to warn children of the dangers of blood-thirsty tyrants and their disregard of civilian lives- But no longer! Our glorious overlords in the Gharashi Syndicate have elected to bring back one of our most ancient practices and give it a modern twist! The Melee shall be open to any participants- Even non-Korathians! - and instead of being a training exercise it is now a marvelous competition! The winner shall receive the galaxies most glorious prize; A boon from the chairman of the Syndicate himself, Not to mention untold fame from becoming the first modern melee champion!
This event is the most fascinating spectacle you will live to see! Our surveys report that 87% of those that attended trial runs of the Melee considered it absolutely phenomenal and winning to be the best experience of their lives*!

The Grand Melee will take place on the desert world of Korath, inside the confines of a massive crater known to the locals as the Dust. It shall last 10 days (Note: One Korathian day is 29 Galactic Standard Hours) and shall comprise of a maximum of 12 competitors. The champions shall be sedated and dropped randomly throughout our natural arena, they will awake at approximately the same time and will have three sets of items on them. The first is one days worth of rations made to sustain the fighter through a nutritious if not bland diet for the next 29 hours. The second is a single transmitter, this will be the most important item to their survival. The third is a weapon or piece of survival gear chosen according to the parallels of their evaluated skill set, meaning they must adapt to using it, or die to those that can. Competitors must survive the next ten days while being challenged by the extreme Korathian climate, dangerous imported wildlife, starvation and thirst, and not to mention other competitors. After all, only one can win. If there is more than one survivor at the end of the 10 days, they will be rounded up and brought to do battle inside of a compact arena- Gladiator Style! The terrain of the Dust is diverse and the crater spans many distances, this means that no two combat situations will ever be the same as the last and ensures that contestants have multiple strategies available at their disposal.
Natural resources in the Dust are slim, and besides the imported animals that will be used in the event, there is no food or water to be found. To prevent our contestants from dying too quickly they are able to use their transmitters to call in for more rations- but it comes at a cost! They are only able to call in extra rations after they have eliminated one of the other competitors, forcing the contestants to fight regularly or die to thirst, hunger, or one of their less pacifistic peers!
Updates about the happenings of the event -such as the tragic deaths of contestants- will be broadcasted through the aforementioned transmitters in order to keep the competitors informed and motivated. The Gharashi Syndicate has sent a representative to deliver said broadcasts and mediate the event, keeping in mind the ancient traditions of Korath and preserving the spirit of the melee to the best of his abilities.
Keep in mind, this contest is to the death so i am not responsible for the loss of characters that you have spent time writing!
I will be taking admissions on a first come first serve basis, please leave said admission below in the following format:

The event will start roughly one day after i have received 8 valid submissions, and i shall be accepting 4 more afterwards for a total of 12. It will be in a private thread and all accepted contestants will be directed there, private message me for any questions.
[Important: The IC updates will be posted at approximately between 1pm-2pm EST every day (5pm-6pm GMT) and will detail deaths that occurred since the last update as well as any special happenings that will take place until the next.]
