Faction The Good, the Bad, and the Jedi (THR and Jedi)

The High Republic was a shining beacon in the Southern Systems. Just like the Galactic Alliance was for the Core. Or had been. Now, the biggest challenge was being around to help the worlds that weren't quite in the inner of the Republic. The worlds on the very rim of the Republic. These, historically, were worlds that Jared Starchaser knew, as a Judge of the Outer Rim. His family's YT-2400, the Pulsar was jumping around and delivering needed goods to the South Systems, settling disputes.

But there was some that even this semi-Wayseeker couldn't do on his own.

An up and coming farming settlement on the third moon of the 4th planet of a yellow star 2 parsecs from nowhere, or, as some spacers would gather, near At Attin, the mint world, had called for help.

Please help us. Raiders attacking in 3 days time. We are unable to push them back. Our elders tell tale of the Republic and its Jedi. We are needing assistance now. They will be back…

Jared was one of the first to hear it, and looked to the Levantine Outback, still patrolling roughly this region of space. They were too busy helping locate their own worlds from the Planeshift. It had to be him. The Pulsar was all alone, still a few days to meet the Oasis from its resupply run. Using his ship's systems, he re-broadcast the message on High Republic and Jedi frequencies. Hoping others would arrive. And with that he made the last jump he needed.

That was two days ago.

Now Jared was sitting around the campfire. His light freighter one of a few vessels that were here. The Force was with them. As the final few gathered around, one of the elder of the village, a man by the name of Jonas sat the gathered.

"We welcome you to our settlement, we just call it home. But I suppose it could be called Baile. Our story is the same as any others, recently. Settlers making the push to the Outer Rim, and finding other worlds along the Corellian Run and Mara Corridor. We arrived with a frigate full of food stuffs, farming supplies, refugees from the core. Then the Planeshift happened. We got separated, but then a group that called themselves the Reborn Nihil kept making runs us. Coming in, stealing crops, and livestock."

He continued on, describing the town. Nothing too special, aside from location. Rich soil, a bank, motel, sheriff office, wood and stone structures and walls. About 20 guns strong, mostly long guns, blasters, but not much training between any of them. That was months ago. Now? A handful of rifles, and small arms, the sheriff and his constables.

Jared nodded. He knew that this was some bigger job. He preferred to do what he could to help people help themselves. The Pulsar had its guns, but his sister set her up to be more a Warden ship. And he didn't want to confuse it. He himself had another long gun, his blaster, and his split saber. He spent the previous day scouting the local area with the others.

And he found some defensive placements and hoped the others would recognize that helping meant teaching. But he was still going to be there to fight.

"First step I've got is unloading a solar bloom from the ship. Can fix power. Anyone have any shielding?"

This is a Magnificent Seven knock off thread. Lets play a yes-and type of set up. Think your typical wild west settlement getting hit by raiders.

His Light Casts No Shadows
The gathering that had come was due to a distress call made across Jedi and High Republic channels. Specifically, a town has been continuously hit again and again by these "Reborn Nihil." Just the name alone brought a lot of bad news. They were, in the past, individuals who were known for their brutal and ruthless marauding campaigns across various swaths of the galaxy during the High Republic. While there were splinter cells of them about here and there, this new group was targeting civilians pretty hard. Sitting down at the campfire, I had already dressed in my armor, pistol and saber. However, it seemed the group that had gathered here was going to have to support the Sheriff and his possie in the defense of this town.

I nearly wanted to say it was like some old flicks on the Holonet, but these days, there were many times in which real life was so much stranger than the shows. However, there was something I had noticed. One of the others here looked extremely familiar. I wasn't quite sure where to place the name. But the eyes and facial features were similar to someone else. A shake of the head to remove the thought for now and just stood up. My hands dusting off my rear and thighs before looking over to the Jedi who stated of bringing on a system to shield the town.

A good idea in case they decided to bring something bigger than just simple firearms.

"I have a couple long arms that were supposed to go to a buyer in High Republic Space. I'm sure he can get over not having them on time."

Looking over to the man who wanted to state about setting up the shield, I nodded.

"You need a hand setting that up?"

Wearing: Prototype Armor

Armed With: Citizen Energy Sword (Incendiary Modifications), Gravetail Vibroblade, Bacta-Works Capture Pistol,

Arrived in: RSSH Shuttle (Unknown Model IC)

The unarmed shuttle streaked overhead the town and settled down at the upper north of the village, where there was a large enough bare spot to land.

And out of the hatch stepped Nathan Bloodscrawl.

He was dressed in a strange combat armor with a red helm that fully concealed his facial features. The villagers that had gathered round recognized instinctively that there was something very different about Nathan and how he carried himself and subtly cleared out of his path, with only one of the deputies standing in his path.

"You...uh...you a Jedi? The Sheriff's Deputy asked.

"Yes." Nathan answered.

"Where's your lightsaber. That doesn't look like a lightsaber." The Deputy noted if the inactive Energy Sword hilt clipped to his belt.

"A lightsaber...any weapon, is defined only by the effort, by the struggle of the one who holds it..." Nathan said. "Such a weapon does not make a Jedi. Or a Sith. And at times, it makes them much, much less than they are..." (Kreia Reference #435534443454454444!: 40 XP)

He teleported a large med pack to the stunned Deputy's feet, walking past him to meet with Jared Starchaser Jared Starchaser and the elder.

"Elder Jonas, I'm Nathan, a Jedi Knight. I brought medical supplies for what's coming..."

"Are you a Jedi?"

Cassian laughed and shook his head. "Far from it, you don't have to be a Jedi to help and make a difference." The General's vessel touched down as he arrived with supplies and such, the distress call rang across the Republic Worlds and he wasn't going to sit by and do nothing. It was as it always was with these sorts of scum, disaster would strike and thus the vultures would come through picking up whatever they could. It was a tactically smooth but cowardly move on their part.

The General would assist in showing them the strength of the Republic and what they could do when threatening liberty and the freedom of those innocents. The Noble got directed to whomever was in charge of the defense and it would seem to be the Deputy, as well as another Jedi by the name of Jared Starchaser Jared Starchaser

Cassian had noted that another Jedi had arrived and this was turning out to be quite the affair. He wondered if these gang of criminal would even dare to try and strike back as apparently they had done numerous times already.

They would be met with Republic Justice and fury.

"Greetings, name is Cassian of House Abrantes from Naboo. I come to aid you in this hour, and until this group of villains are wiped from here." Cassian didn't wait for a response as he moved back from his vessel and began pulling supplies, weaponry and such.

Phillip didn't say a single word when he had arrived on the planet. Instead, the Padawan had set off with a paper pad and some pens. Yes, sure he could have done his idea through with the usage of an electronic map, but there was something far more...comforting about doing it by hand as the Padawan moved through the settlement, sketching a rough display of the settlement. Where the buildings were, which seemed to be the most reinforced before starting to sketch out sightlines on the map. Where people would be able to keep an eye out to make sure they could warn each other. He had no clue what direction the Reborn Nihl would come...but that didn't stop him from trying to come up with a plan for every scenario. Phillip wasn't physically strong. He wasn't mentally strong. He wasn't strong in the Force. And he wasn't even fast. But he was smart. He was creative.

"Lets think here...Motel wouldn't make adequate protection for the non-fighters...We could get them on some of the ships but at the same time...would that work? The prison could be well secured...Not sure how the people would feel about having to be locked up there for their own protection..."

To be fair, it seemed like nearly everyone was ready to pick up a weapon. Good. It was better to be able to believe in your own strength, than rely on someone else's. That was what Phillip had slowly been learning in the High Republic. Amongst the Jedi. Lessons from Lorn that he wouldn't forget. There was no way Phillip would turn his back to a threat like this as he made his way back over towards the group, running a hand through his hair as he sighed to himself. This wasn't like Phillip. He was never normally this pro-active when it came to planning. He'd let someone else do it. He'd stay quiet. But here he was, trying to get himself more confidence.

"I worked on trying to find good spots to set up for sightlines. A few sharpshooters set up here could do a fair amount of damage, I think. I hope...it helps."

There we go. Now that Phillip was opening his mouth, his faux confidence was starting to falter. Those stray thoughts in the back of his mind telling him there wasn't much he could do to help in this endeavour slithering their way to the front of his mind. Though he tried his hardest not to focus on those thoughts. Mental was half the battle. If he let himself get rattled, he might as well have already lost.

Journal Entry:

Personal Log – M.A.
Date: [Redacted]
Location: Baile, Third Moon, [insert system name here]

Not exactly where I thought I’d end up after a “quick recon run.” I was supposed to be mapping routes — maybe chase a few pirate signals — but halfway through the patrol, a distress call came in. Raiders. Three days out. Sounded bad enough to pull me in, but here’s the thing: I knew I had to be there.

Not “this would look good on the after-action report” have-to. Not “orders from the brass” have-to. I mean I knew. Somewhere deep, like a pressure in my chest. Still not used to that being the Force.

BRED had opinions, of course.
(Bwoo-deet?) [“Another charity gig? We should start billing.”]
Pretty sure he’d unionize if droids could.

Anyway, dropped in over the settlement, Baile. Looks like someone built a set from one of those old frontier holovids and forgot to take it down. Walls, sheriff’s office, a bank, even a saloon. Landing zone was a patch of dirt and half-buried plating — but the Turtleshell as I call it made it look good. Always does.

Did a sweep through town. Walls are decent for keeping out stray nerfs, not so great for organized raiders. The place still has life, though — you can feel it in the way the kids watch you from behind barrels like you’re part of some story.

Then, because the galaxy loves drama, I ran into Rallo.
Rallo is… let’s call him a “business acquaintance.” Last time we saw each other was a card game on the Fair Chance run to Ord Mantell. He claims I cheated. I claim he can’t bluff to save his life.
(Bwoo-wooo.) [“I’m not getting involved.”] — BRED, loyal as ever.

I left him grumbling outside the saloon and headed toward the campfire where the rest of the responders were gathering. Jared Starchaser’s here — I’ve heard of him. Solid rep. Feels like the kind of guy who can get a crew moving.

We’ve got maybe a day before trouble hits. This place needs more than just fighters — it needs a plan.
And if that Force feeling was right, I’m in exactly the right place for that.

— M.A.
