The Diarchy Fleet

The Diarchy Fleet is the strategic arm of Diarchal power in space. It exists to control borders, secure trade routes, move armies, and ensure that Diarchal authority can be enforced anywhere it must reach.

The Fleet has proven itself through blockade actions, deep-space engagements, system-wide occupations, evacuation operations, and sustained high-intensity warfare. Its authority is derived from presence, coordination, and the ability to end conflicts with decisive action.

Not only is it the backbone of military power; it is also the main exploratory and scientific branch of the Diarchy. Here the bounds of known space are tested and those who must face the unknown are molded into legends.




A Culture of Pride and Precision
Fleet service is viewed as a distinct calling within Diarchal society.

Crews are trained for long deployments, isolation, and decision-making under extreme pressure. Every ship operates as a closed ecosystem where discipline, trust, and competence determine survival. Fleet personnel are expected to understand that they will be living on the ship for long periods of time.

Pilots, engineers, navigators, gunners, medics, logistics officers, and command staff are all honored equally.

Ships lost in action are recorded by name. Crews are honored alongside ground forces in public memorials and state observances. Be in in combat or to space.



Strategic Role
The Fleet’s responsibilities include:

  • Defense of Diarchal space and borders

  • Control of hyperspace routes and major trade corridors

  • Blockades and system-level interdictions

  • Orbital fire support for ground campaigns

  • Transportation and deployment of the Diarchy Armed Forces

  • Evacuation and humanitarian operations during large-scale crises

  • Documentation and exploration of new systems and species.
The Fleet is often the first and last presence in a conflict or cultural exchange. It isolates battlefields, denies enemy reinforcement, and decides when a campaign can escalate or must be contained. It determines if a planet's population and atmosphere are safe or hostile. If a new route can be secured for further development.



Relationship with the Armed Forces
The Fleet and the DAF operate as integrated but distinct institutions.

Fleet commanders coordinate directly with ground leadership but retain authority over space-based decisions. Orbital fire, troop deployment timing, and extraction are Fleet-controlled assets.

Neither branch commands the other. Campaigns succeed through coordination.

This separation prevents any single institution from dominating both space and ground operations and ensures accountability at every level of war.

In times of need leaders may take over dual roles of either branch to ensure coordination and operation success.



Doctrine and Operations
Fleet doctrine emphasizes:

  • System denial and space superiority

  • Coordinated multi-ship task forces

  • Long-duration patrols and deterrence presence

  • Integration with intelligence and Brotherhood assets

  • Civilian evacuation and infrastructure protection once control is established
Fleet commanders are expected to think in terms of systems, logistics, and time. Victory is often defined not by a single aspect but the combined effort of all aspects.

Fleet Marines

Boarding, Breach, and Decisive Action


The Fleet Marines are the Diarchy shock arm. They exist to fight in harsh environments, where control must be taken immediately and without hesitation due to the inherent threat of space combat and breach tactics.

They are trained for rapid deployment, close-quarters combat, and boarding operations. Fleet Marines are not garrison troops and they are not conventional infantry. They are deployed to end situations quickly and with extreme force if necessary.

Their primary roles include:

  • Boarding hostile vessels during fleet engagements

  • Defending Diarchal ships against enemy boarding actions

  • Securing crippled or downed vessels in space or atmosphere

  • Planetary insertions in support of Fleet objectives

  • Emergency response during evacuations, mutinies, or internal ship crises
Fleet Marines operate in zero-gravity, urban interiors, and heavily enemy dense environments. They are expected to fight independently for extended periods if cut off from support and hold the line.



Doctrine and Culture
Fleet Marine doctrine is aggressive by design.

They are trained to breach, clear, and hold under extreme conditions. Speed, violence of action, and coordination define their approach.

Despite this, discipline is absolute. Marines are taught that uncontrolled force endangers objectives, civilian lives, and ship integrity. Precision matters as much as aggression.

Marines work directly with commanders, intelligence officers, and Brotherhood assets. They are trusted to make decisions at the point of contact without waiting for distant approval.



Relationship to the Fleet and DAF
Marines are a sub-branch of the Fleet, not the Diarchy Armed Forces.

They do not replace ground Legions, nor are they meant for prolonged occupation. Their role is to:

  • Create openings

  • Secure critical assets

  • Stabilize situations until follow-on forces arrive
In large campaigns, Marines may typically operate alongside DAF units during planetary assaults. Particularly in spaceports, orbital facilities, or capital infrastructure.

They are respected by both branches and feared by most opponents.



Playing a Fleet Marine
Fleet Marine characters fit a wide range of stories:

  • Boarding specialists and breachers

  • Squad leaders and rapid response commanders

  • Veterans of ship-to-ship combat

  • Rescue operators saving trapped crews

  • Marines questioning the cost of decisive violence
They can serve aboard carriers, cruisers, or independent strike vessels, and may rotate between shipboard duty and planetary operations including command and control.

Marines are not required to be mindless aggressors. Many carry strong personal codes, deep loyalty to their crews, or long memories of the ships they failed or saved.

Some simply want to be an emergency trauma response. Any effort in the fight is worth respecting.



Identity within the Diarchy
Within Diarchal culture, Marines are honored for their willingness to act and the reality that such operations have a high casualty rate. [/H2]

When a ship must be taken.
When a corridor must be held.
When a crew must be saved.

The Marines go first and leave last.

Playing in the Fleet

Fleet characters are not limited to pilots, marines or captains.

Fleet stories can focus on more than combat. It can be diplomacy, exploration, evacuation operations, long patrols, or the psychological strain of command. Anomalies in space, encountering new species and civilizations, and exploring the reaches of space in the North and Unknown Regions. Do not feel bottle-necked simply due to being a part of an organization. Opportunity is limitless in Diarchy space.

Fleet personnel may also hold political office, advisory roles, or planetary authority. Service in the Fleet is a great way to bring legitimacy to a house, character, or company.
