Private The Fate of Two

[Vex Drakkon]

As the holo-image faded from the small device that Master Vex Drakkon held in their palm, he let out an audible sigh, while shaking their head lightly. "Damn it, Liin!" He shouted, letting the anger out because of what the Jedi Master just witnessed. He placed the small device back inside their brown robe, then focused on the computer panel within the cockpit, and began to punch in the coordinates of where Liin was supposedly located. Master Drakkon knew she was in over her head with their research, but Vex could not just let her rot away in some cell.

When the location was punched into the ship’s system, Vex placed both hands on the stick and quickly maneuvered the ship to turn around, so that the Jedi Master could prepare the ship for hyperspace in the correct direction. "I really hope this is worth the trouble." He muttered quietly, while pushing the throttle the whole way up to engage the hyperspace. Suddenly the stars around him vanished, replaced by what seemed like a brightly lit tunnel that would stretch on for thousands of miles uninterrupted by anything around it.

Master Drakkon took this time to kick their feet up on the empty chair beside him, while throwing the dark brown hood over their head, and trying to catch up on the sleep he so desperately lacked. He laid back with both eyes closed and their mind free of any distractions, or so the Jedi Master thought. The only thing that continued to pop up in their mind was Liin’s face, her voice even. No matter how much he tried to shake her from his mind, Vex couldn’t help but to feel some sort of deep connection to her. It wasn’t that he couldn’t shake her from his mind, it was the sheer fact that he did not want to rid Liin from his thoughts.

Time slipped away, but Vex continued to rock in the chair, thinking of something that might not even be possible. Regardless of the matter of what was on their mind, Vex was alerted immediately when the ship exited hyperspace, which was replaced with a vast planet that nearly covered the whole window of Vex’s ship. "So, this is where they took you." He spoke calmly, pushing the throttle forward slightly to engage more speed towards the planet. Master Drakkon had no idea what he was getting into, nor did he really care because he made a promise to Liin that he would protect her, so that was exactly what the Jedi Master would do.

Once the ship made it through planet Entralla’s atmosphere, Master Drakkon guided the small vessel through the sky until he found a spot just outside of Nexus City, where he could lay low until night fell over the planet. It would be perfect because it gave Vex time to scout and prepare for what was to come. He had every intention of making sure Liin was free and safe from anything that might cause her harm, so the Jedi Master thought it would be best to make sure everything went down how he planned it, or they might find themselves in a whole new mess of trouble.

It did not take long for people to arrive at my laboratory once my little broadcast was finished. It only took a day. And within that time I spent it wisely, hiding away my notes in such places that they could be found if people looked hard enough. I also locked up my serum vials, equipment and reactors. Let them find it all. Let them use it. Let them bring forth the kind of Galaxy that I hope the future will bring it. People that weild the Force are the problem given that they cause so many wars over their conflicting dogmas. So let it end...

When the former Alliance officers arrived, I was just sipping my wine and reading a book. I did not resist them. I hardly spoke at all. In truth I feel as though I was a shell of myself. My life's purpose is fulfilled. So now what? I was for the most part, directionless.

Word had spread on the holonews about my arrest. But it was not exactly breaking news that demanded attention. A lot of my efforts were like that. And I have made peace with it. An entire residence was mine. Given my compliance; I was given the sentence of house arrest; as opposed to sitting in a cell. No scientific equipment was allowed. My datapad was heavily restricted and monitored. I wore a tracking collar on the off chance they thought that I would want to escape. Guards patrolled the area, delivering me meals on a precise schedule. I spend a lot of my time reading mystery novels, drinking wine, and painting. While being completely away from the public eye and no longer working; I was free to pursue the hobby that my parents prefered that I hide. My color-blindness did not allow me to be accurate in my paintings, but that mattered little to me. In my eyes they looked perfect.

So was this the worst fate imagineable? Not in the slightest! I just was unable to contact anyone to let them know that I was okay. That was the only part that hurt out of this whole thing.

[Vex Drakkon]

As the small vessel descended from the sky in a secluded spot outside of Nexus City, Master Drakkon sat in the pilot’s chair with both hands on the stick, guiding the ship to land as gently as possible. Parts these days were more expensive than ever and Vex had zero intentions of spending credits that he had very little of at the moment. As a Jedi, Vex wasn’t paid at all. He made his money from salvage he would come across on their adventures. It wasn’t much, but it was honest work that made him proud at times.

Once the ship landed gracefully in the open field that was surrounded by a dense forest, Vex walked to the back, pressed a button on the side of the durasteel wall, then watched as the hatch opened from the rear of the ship, and a ramp lowered itself manually to the ground. The Jedi Master kept the hood over their head to remain hidden from those who wanted the Jedi dead and stepped forward down the ramp to exit the ship. Just as his feet touched the planet’s surface, Vex glanced around to get a good look at their surroundings, before reaching out with the force to search for Liin’s presence.

Master Vex Drakkon had one goal and that was to find this compound that Liin was being held in, bust her out no matter what, then bring her to safety once and for all. It was deserved, especially after she saved his life just a few months earlier. "There.." He whispered, while jerking their head to the right. Liin wasn’t too far away, so the Jedi Master would have to trek through the forest to find where she was held and hopefully bring her away from all this nonsense. What the Jedi didn’t know was the fact that Liin was no longer able to use the force as she once did, but that wouldn’t change anything that Vex thought of her.

It didn’t take long for Master Drakkon to begin their journey through the forest that surrounded his ship. The long plants that nearly draped over his head made noises that almost sounded like waves crashing against a beach, which immediately gave him the vibe that they were deadly, so he swayed away from them to find himself in a habitat that looked more like a jungle. The environment around him seemed to change almost instantly, making him think that the compound was hidden away back here on purpose just because of how dangerous the surrounding area is. Regardless, Master Vex Drakkon continued forth until he spotted a smaller building with a couple security guards patrolling the outside.

I was reading one of the mystery novels within the comfort of my bed as I had often done in the night. The curtains were open so that I could have a view of the stars above the treeline. But as I was reading, something had caught my eye. The bright exhaust of what had to be a landing ship tore away my focus from the book nestled on my lap.

How curious. Perhaps it was a new shift of guards, coming to replace the others. Although it seemed to be a distance away. But I am not entirely certain of what was beyond the grove of trees. I was not exactly given that right to see. Such a thing might of bothered most, but not me.

I returned my attention back to my novel. Only if I heard the sounds of blasterfire would I get worried. For now I just had to ignore any thoughts or feelings of paranoia. The days of being hunted are over, are they not?

Hmmm.

I re-read the same sentance over and over again and still I could not comprehend it. Closing the book I set it aside on the nightstand and slid out from under the covers. My bare feet hit the soft rug and immediately took me to the window. I peered through the darkness, inspecting all of the shadows. Was there danger in those woods? I spotted the guards down below. They seemed to not have noticed anything unusual for their pace and route did not change.

Maybe I only imagined the ship landing. Could this be a new side effect that I was not anticipating? Hallucinations? Oh, I certainly hope not.

[Vex Drakkon]

As the compound was now visible to the Master Jedi, Vex pulled out the pair of electrobinoculars, and used the device to help scout out the area more. There were guards out front of the compound, patrolling the entrance to ensure no intruders could make their way inside. This would make things a bit more challenging for Vex Drakkon, but he knew nothing was going to stop him front busting Liin free from the so-called prison she was held within. He wanted nothing more than Liin to be safe and he had a feeling that she would be better off at his side.

Once Vex began to look around the landscape through the electrobinoculars, he glanced around the compound to see a glimpse of what looked like Liin, looking down from a window as if she were examining the outside perimeter. The Jedi had to look again to make sure he wasn’t seeing things, but the figure was gone from the window, leaving Vex wondering if his mind was playing tricks on him, or if he actually saw Liin from his current location. Regardless, he shook off that feeling, before scanning the area once more. Only two security guards patrolled the area, leaving Vex with a plan to get rid of them easily.

Master Drakkon placed the electrobinoculars back on his utility belt, before putting his attention back on the two guards, who were nearly side-by-side at the moment. He wanted to distract them, but that would take too much of his time, so Vex felt a little reckless. The Jedi Master stepped free from the tree line, just enough that the security guards were still unable to notice him in the darkness that surrounded them all. Just as the darkness surrounded them, so did the force, but it circled around Vex, like a tornado twisting through the plains.

When Vex Drakkon locked on to both the guards patrolling the entrance of the compound, he reached out with the force, stretching across the open field that separated himself from the compound. Just as the force found itself beside both guards, Vex manipulated it to grab them both suddenly, jerking them back across the open field, and heading straight to the Jedi Master. They tried to move and scream, but the grip was so tight that both guards were unable to use any muscle they had within their bodies. It was almost like the blink of an eye, and they were right in front of Vex. "Normally, I would just knock your heads together, but not this time, not after what you have done." His words were cold, almost as if Vex was no longer playing games when it came to those he cared about.

Master Drakkon could feel them begging for mercy through the force. It was intoxicating, to say the least. But before Vex could explain what he was doing, the necks of the guards snapped simultaneously, then their bodies went limp in the air, and Vex just used the force to toss the bodies behind him. It was his very first time killing without reason, giving him a feeling that applied pressure to his entire body, almost as if the force itself was warning him of what may come if the Jedi Master would continue to act without thinking. Regardless of what Vex may have done, he finally marched forward, closing the distance between himself and the compound that held Liin inside.

Along the way to the compound, Vex happened to glance down to spot something shining from the glare of the moon above. He stopped and instantly leaned down to pick up the item. It was a badge card that would allow entrance inside the compound, making things seem a bit too easy. He was going to just climb and rescue Liin, but something deep within the Jedi Master wanted him to do things the hard way. To make a statement that the ones he truly cares about are not to be messed with, or death would soon follow those who didn’t see things the same way as him.

Something felt a little off. But how or why I could not explain. I found myself returning to the window. Looking down on the lawn, I was surorised to see that the guards were no longer visible. So where did they go? My briws furrowed in concentration while I squinted in the dark to see if I could see any sign of them. Yet I did not.

Instead I saw another figure in the dark. It was cloaked and moved across the lawn towards the compound, seemingly retrieving something from the ground. Before he could stand upright again I quickly moved away from the window. My heart was pounding as the first thing that came to my mind was hunters; or some Force Wizard that still wanted to come after me for my research.

I needed to hide. Somewhere. I slipped my housecoat from the coat stand and looked around my bedchamber. There was no telling how much time that I had. So I quickly slipped on my housecoat, made my bed so that it appeared as though I was not in it at all this evening and them promptly did what one might of more or less expected from a child.

I hid myself under the bed.
