OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: To create a neat artefact of the dark side of the Force that I may just donate to a charity event.
  • Image Source: Etsy - Kintsugi Gifts
  • Canon Link: N/A.
  • Restricted Missions: N/A.
  • Primary Source: Wookiepedia: Sith Alchemy
PRODUCTION INFORMATION
  • Manufacturer: [member="Darth Ophidia"], Darth Cistes.
  • Model: N/A.
  • Affiliation: Open-Market
  • Modularity: None.
  • Production: Unique
  • Material: Clay, paint, gold, malice, alchemical components.
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Smells Nice: The vase gives off a faint and rather pleasant citrus smell. This scent will always be detectable in the room.
  • Floracide: Even the hardiest flower will wither and die if planted in this vase. Depending on size and vitality, it may take minutes, hours or days, but nothing thrives here.
  • Dark Thoughts: Tainted with the dark side of the Force, the vase slowly draws out negative emotions in those who remain exposed to its presence for a longer period of time. This can result in owners becoming solitary, depressed, afraid, and aggressive, to mention some. Touching and looking at the vase will hasten the effect.
  • Whispers: Once a subject is tainted, they may be allured to hold, to look at, and even to put their ear to the vase. At this point, it may whisper to them. What it whispers, not even the wisest can predict.
Strengths:
  • Alchemical Resillience: Made from Sith alchemy, it is very difficult to destroy by conventional means. That means you could technically throw it at someone, I guess.
  • Tainted: Will slowly corrupt persons in its vicinity and draw out negative emotions. This may turn force users to the dark side of the Force and make those already on the dark side more volatile. At the very least it will certainly sour some friendships. Once tainted, the following whispers can be quite persuasive. In part because it argues well, in part because it uses the Force to persuade.*1
  • Unsuspecting: While a good-looking piece of art, it doesn't quite strike one as a dark object of power. This is useful in ways.
  • Citrus-y Smell: It smells nice! Citrus also covers the scent of necrosis very well, which is good.
  • My Flowers!: Non-sentient flora placed in this vase will wither and die at a supernatural speed.
Weaknesses:
  • Alchemical Weakness: While surprisingly hardy, it has a weakness to Force Light. An area effect will dampen its abilities, a direct blast will simply shatter it.
  • Child of the Force: Any force-nullification field (Such as that of the ysalamiri or voidstone) will cancel out its effect. It also has no effect on the Force Dead.
  • A Dark Presence: Unsuspecting as it may be, a wary Force user may detect its dark aura and will certainly sense its nature upon touching it. A dark-oriented forcer might not mind it, but a light oriented one may take offence. The dark presence is also not all-powerful and can be resisted by a powerful Force user.*1
  • Not a Weapon: Sure, you might drop it on someone, but this is not a weapon. You don't wield a vase no matter how hard it is to break. Put it down.
  • But I watered them!: Bad for keeping flowers, they keep dying.
*1: This part is a story-enabler for corruption narratives and should only be used for such. The final decision to do or not to do lies with the writer.

DESCRIPTION

A fine vase of deep, midnight blue. The hues almost shift as you turn its rounded psuedo-square shape. Once broken, the clay shards have been re-sealed with molten gold, creating a striking effect against the deep blues. It is a rather entrancing visual piece, but its will is malicious.

Centuries ago, there was a dark Sith sorceress who tried to stow away a piece of her soul in a vase so that she could never fall in battle. It was a long and arduous process, and the ritual took years to assemble. Victory over death was at hand, the sorceress could taste immortality. With her apprentice by her side, Dark Empress Darth Cistes would rule the Galaxy!

However, during her attempt at ascension, she was betrayed. Her apprentice shattered the vase before the ritual was completed, causing the sorceress' soul to shatter with it and be swept away on the winds of Krayiss II.

Years passed, decades turned to centuries, and Cistes was forgotten to time. Scholars of the resurgent Ancient Sith later found the shards in the sand as they were digging forth old routes through the canyons. They swept them up and kept them locked away. These scholars too soon forgot the cursed shards, until more wicked minds sought them out.

The Sith Lord Darth Ophidia, a tinkerer in the dark arts of Sith alchemy found the shards and glued them together with gold. She found that the dark side tried to speak to her through it, and she felt it pulling at her already tainted soul. She resisted its influence and worked alchemy into it as she reconstructed the fine blue vase. The runes served to focus the whispers into a weapon to taint the untouched and corrupt the valorous, with a side-effect of being really quite solid.
