The End of the Road [OPEN]

Marina DeVoe

Not a flight attendant... just a risk.
"Gasp..." it had come like that of a biting chill, the darkness which suddenly surrounded and enveloped her before she found herself in it's ice cold grip.

What had she done? Why..why couldn't she just leave well enough alone? Not everyone or everything in this galaxy in whatever shape or form could be reasoned with. And she had experienced this just hours ago with the creature. So why did she think to reason with it now?

A fright..a cold horrid fright overtook her as she no longer were connected to gravity at all. Her freakin feet were off the ground and so was she!
He feeble attempt at reaching for something to grab hold of were nothing short of one swinging at the end of a rope...the noose dance. Only her troat was not at the end of it. Seemed her entire body was.
But no, there was nothing but the frigid air and the cold for her to grasp for. And of course the thing..the creature now looking down on her. But that was for a slip moment, before she closed her eyes tight and waited for the inevitable.
The creature had warned her a few hours ago that she were nothing to it. That if she uttered one more word to his dislike that he's kill her and all of them. Well Ok, the girl had just escaped clean, so now there were just two left for the creature to take out her insolence over. The very thought of her being the cause of the poor man still inside her ship dying because of her stubbornness weighted more on her conscious than her own life.

And she waited...

...and waited... tight muscled and ready for whatever the creature would dish out to end her life.

...and it didn't come.

Notwithstanding the fact that she were loosing body temp and hope as the minute, then two dragged on, she peeked out of one eye. Ahh..so that's where the cold gale was coming from, of all things to pop into her head. It were his breath. It were like that of Hoth's breath, it it were a living thing like the creature.
odd thing to notice though; as horrid and deformed his features were, there was no hint of putrid smell from dead flesh. It were all like winter clean, the air that is, despite it being biting cold.

She then opened both eyes, staring into his vacant orbs, like they were distant black suns, void of any stars around them.
"Ahhck.." She then fell to the cold crunchy dead grass below her.
Fell...not dropped for she didn't seem to hit it hard. But the grass, having lost it's resiliency felt like needles on her back.
Marina remained there trembling a moment as the shadow lifted from her and from the immediate area. She could feel the bite and sting of the cold suddenly receding away, feeling the rush of air from the meadow taking it's place, feeling like a warm breeze coming over her. Of course the night air had a natural chill about it, but after being in the grasp of Mr. Frost, the natural ambient air felt warm. In fact it was, as her own body temp had dropped a bit in his presence again.

For another following minute, Marina remained there on her back catching her breath and getting up her nerve and strength to sit up. And sit up she did, feeling around with her hand the sting she still felt from the grass made straw that she fell on. But nothing had pricked her, it was just the remnant of what she were feeling from it.

Be de beep beep... her droid startled her before she turned to it.

"Sigh...
Yes, I'm alright...
I thought I told you to stay inside..." Hmm, well what did she expect of her droid if she herself didn't seem to take instructions well.

de be dee de de... Tk then asked her what the entity had said, before it released her. To TK, it did appear to it that the entity was speaking to Marina as it made it's way to her.

"It...it didn't say anything..." She turned to look in the direction the creature had gone, not being able to see it from where she were sitting.

"But..." She reached up to her droid for leverage and finally got herself back up on her feet.
"But I think it was a means of it telling me to leave..."

Orex's boots retraced their steps from earlier in the day. Pounding along the dying grass, he trekked across the hills. His breath was brief. Inhale, exhale. Sharp and deliberate. He wasn't out of breath, he was angry. Emotions ran rampant. The Myrkur appeared as he came over the peak of a small hill. His approach to it was unhindered and quick. The Ramp descended as he neared, his walk now a resounding metallic thud as he disappeared into his ship.

The darkness of the empty world was cut off. Orex stormed up the rest of the ramp, to which an Emergence Protocol Droid greeted him. The droid strode up to him as he walked,

"Superie-"

Orex's gloved fist drew towards his abdomen, then swung with ferocious violence into the droid's head. The tall figure lurched to the side and smashed into the hallway wall, crouched, and remained. Orex disappeared around the corner before the dark droid mumbled.

"Krrrtraav" (nerf herder)

The droid spoke in an encoded language. His boss wasn't happy.

Orex rounded the corner and stormed into the bridge of the black corvette. He stopped in the middle. Exhaled hard. I-APE-A's and Rector pilots turned to look at him, anxiously awaiting an order. Concern seated deep within all present as he stood there, tense and motionless, save for his chest heaving up and down.

"Leave the planet".

Rector's spun and began inputting hyperspace co-ordinates as the ship's A.I throttled the engine behind them. Orex watched the holo-display of the exterior show a slowly falling surface, then spun and disappeared into his quarters.

Orex stood before a digital mirror. The display was littered in glowing analyses. Stats and figures of his vital signs lined the corners, a representation of his heartbeat pounded where his heart was located. But he ignored all these things and simply stared into himself. He pulled the armourweave gloves from his hands. Charcoal flesh emerged from the often-replaced gloves, a result of him fending off lightning. The blackened fingers wrapped around his half-mask and clicked a set of hidden buttons, to which pressurised air hissed and escaped. His palm surrounded the face of the Mask as he removed it from his head and dropped it gracelessly to the floor. The songsteel chassis rung in his ears, free from his face finally. Or what was left of it.

A slight breeze were felt coming from the east.
Marina continued toward her ship, one hand on her droid for support. She were tired..extremely tired. It had been one long arduous night.
But the fading of the stars and light growing from the horizon would bade the passing of the night.

"H...how's our patient?" She finally took to asking as they reached the ramp.

The man remained stable was all her droid could relate. TK was connected to the ship's system and thus the monitors, including those of the med-bay.

"No chance you figured out his name, did you?" She asked, for she never got the woman's name, nor the creature's.

Be de..... de be be de beep... It only knew what she knew; male, age...jedi. Only that TK had gotten jedi from Marina, whom had gotten it from the entity (Orex)...

"Creature... that creature was no doubt a sith." Marina corrected her droid, stopping short of stepping on the ramp.
"Heh...pant pant...didn't realize how steep it is..." She commented before dragging herself up the ramp behind her droid into the Mariner IV.

De be de beep... her droid asked if their former destination remained the same. The same emergency escape coordinates that had been set by TK earlier, to jump them back to Alderaan.

"Yes...take us home."
