OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Religion Name: The Dreadbound Covenant
  • Religion Type: Force-Based (Dark Side)
  • Influence: Interplanetary
  • Influence Area: Anoat Sector, small bands in other parts of the galaxy
  • Symbol:
    oCeCiWw.png
  • Description: Many have come to view Darth Nefaron as a prophet of terror, the will of the Dark Side made manifest in the galaxy. Some are forced into the faith, like those in the Corpse Legion, while others attach themselves to the faith as a result of ambition, greed, or as a way to avoid the oncoming terror the Corpse Lord brings to the galaxy. Practitioners directly obey the will of Darth Nefaron, the Covenant acting as a binding organization for his operations across the galaxy.
SOCIAL INFORMATION
  • Founder: Though not setting out to be a prophet, Darth Nefaron Darth Nefaron has molded the Dreadbound into another tool to serve his will, acting as the Dread Lord, an all but godlike figure for those who bind themselves to the covenant.
  • Membership: Most current practitioners are forced into the faith as they are bound into slavery by the Corpse Lord; some turn to the faith to ascend in the eyes of Nefaron and escape their horrid conditions. The Corpse Legion practices the faith as a result of their warped and broken minds, entirely focused on spreading terror and darkness to the galaxy.
  • Sacred: Above all else, Darth Nefaron is the living embodiment of fear and therefore an extension of the will of the Dark Side made flesh. Sights of mass terror and slaughter are also revered. To a lesser extent, the Apprentices of Darth Nefaron ( Veradun Sharr Veradun Sharr and Eurydice Eurydice ) are also held in high regard as direct servants of Darth Nefaron. It is not uncommon for totems made of flesh and bone to be made in the image of the Corpse Lord.
  • Dogma: The guiding aspect of the covenant is the will of Darth Nefaron: to spread terror and fear to the galaxy. Either you are the one inflicting it, or you are consumed by it. The faithful are often the lowest, most vile beings in the galaxy and are willing to become truly depraved if it means a place in the dark future Nefaron is building. The very concept of hope is to be destroyed, for there will be only darkness in the coming galaxy.
  • Reputation: Outside of those utterly consumed by Darkness, the Dreadbound seem to be utterly mad for serving Nefaron, willingly or otherwise. They are sworn enemies of all that is good and seek to snuff out the light by any means necessary.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION

Darth Nefaron was one to destroy faith, not embrace it.

Yet the vast horde gathering on Anoat in his service has come to see him as more than a simple Sith Lord. Nefaron is a master of terror, all but consumed by the concept of fear and dealing it out to all living things. Those broken under his horrid gaze have come to view him as herald of a great darkness, a dark god spawned from the depths of madness and the only path to power. While the Corpse Legion is all but forced into worshipping the Corpse Lord, word of the gathering tide in the Anoat Sector has begun to spread, not only into Sith space but also into the wider galaxy. Many come to serve out of terror, for they believe submitting to the Dread Lord will save them and those they love from what is to come.

It won't.

But Darth Nefaron would be a fool not to embrace these poor souls. Through them, his network of agents and informants grows ever wider. Others come to serve Nefaron out of a lust for power or simple greed, embracing the debauchery of the Covenant as an escape from civilized society under the protection of a being far more terrible than anyone could imagine. These also have their uses, for they provide the growing legion on Anoat the necessary raw materials and supplies to continue to expand and begin the construction of a great armada to rival those of other Sith.

While fresh, the Dreadbound Covenant has already begun to spread its poison outward from Anoat. In the end, none shall escape the great tide of terror that comes to consume the galaxy, for only the Dread Lord will gain from the sacrifice of his faithful. When all the galaxy is reduced to a shivering, screaming monument to the glory of fear, perhaps then Nefaron will truly ascend to become the god his devotees believe him to be.

An uncaring, cruel, monstrous thing.

He would not have it any other way.
