The Dominion

"Atrisia was a tragedy, but it forged us into the nation you see today. Jedi, Sith, Republic, Empire, those labels don't mean much to us anymore. The Dominion began as a desperate

attempt to unite the shattered peoples of the core worlds. Since then we've become more. Men that were once enemies are brothers now, and the galaxy has proven itself to still be a

cold and harsh place. Even still, we will weather it. Our unity is our strength, and our brotherhood iron-forged. Together, we will create a place of tolerance and understanding in a

galaxy that thrives off of ignorance and hatred."

"Never forget Atrisia."

Description

The war between the One Sith and the Galactic Republic was incredibly taxing upon the galaxy. Millions perished in a bloody war that many would call pointless. Worlds were left utterly destroyed, and the lives of billions were permanently effected. Eventually, both governments fell, along with other great powers such as the Mandalorians Clans and a number of other rump states across the stars.

From these ashes emerged the Dominion, a conglomeration of refugees brought together under the singular leadership of the late Mephirium. Elements from across the galaxy soon joined the Dominion's cause: the pursuit of peace, tolerance, and understanding in a world that thrives off of intolerance and bigotry.

The Dominion began as a loose military alliance between former enemies, but it evolved into something greater during the infamous battle of Atrisia. There, the Dominion's leadership faced off against a force of almost every major power in the galaxy that was spearheaded by the Galactic Alliance. Their intention was to overthrow the democratically elected ruler of the Atrisian peoples, and the Dominion was not going to abandon their allies to such a fate. Millions of souls perished on both sides perished that world, the Dominion's primary leadership being among them.

The Dominion lost much of its military capacity on that day, along with a significant loss of life. The survivors fled Atrisia in the wake of the battle alongside scores of Atrisian refugees, stopping only at their allied world of Commenor to lick their wounds before making their way to the world of Ession, the home of their former leader.

It was there that the Dominion was reforged. A holo of Mephirium named the errant Jedi Knight Veiere Arenais his successor, and it was under this man's coming rule that Ession prospered. Refugees became citizens. Former enemies became brothers. Soldiers that had been trying to slaughter one another a decade ago now stood side by side wearing the Dominion eagle upon their breasts.

Led by their newly named Archlord, the Dominion stands as a beacon of tolerance in a galaxy of hate. Elements from across the galaxy have come together to forge the Dominion, and few have found themselves turned away. Jedi, Sith, Mandalorian, Hapan, anything - so long as all follow the laws of the Dominion they are granted citizenship.

The Dominion itself is headed by the Archlord, whom serves as their general leader. This title is expected to be handed down a hereditary line, though any Archlord can be ousted by an agreeing vote of the senate.

The senate is made up of representatives from every world within the Dominion, and generally meet to deal with issues that will affect the entirety of the realm. These meetings are rare, as most worlds govern themselves however they see fit. So long as the population is content with the way they are ruled, a tithe is paid for military protection, and the world does not violate sentient rights laws, then theoretically any government could be formed within the Dominion.

Decisions made by the senate cannot be overturned by the Archlord, save for in times of war. Even then, doing so requires great reason and an excessive threat, as the democratic process is important in keeping the peace.

Religious groups are allowed to flourish as they see fit, with rulers from such groups as the Jedi and Sith being accepted so long as they follow the proper processes. Force sensitive organizations that wish to be funded by the government via taxation must provide an acceptable service to the people, be it military service or more mundane activities.

The Dominion Military

The combined forces of the Dominion hail from a plethora of backgrounds. Many of them differ in race and creed, though they are all united for two purposes: to reclaim the glory that is rightfully theirs and avenge Atrisia. Many come from different walks of life, many joined service solely to protect and serve their new government that offers freedom, peace, and prosperity for all who live under its banner. The combined Dominion uniformed services are as follows: The Grand Army of the Dominion and The Grand Armada of the Dominion. Both services fill joint operational roles as well as mission parameters that are unique to their respective service.

The Grand Army of the Dominion: It is grand in both diversity and size. Those who call themselves ground-pounders hail from varying factions to include: The Dreadguard, the Mandalorian Enclave, Jedi Knights, and even stragglers from both the Republican and Sith armies. All have found a common cause under the Dominion and will fight to the death to defend their dear nation. All Dominion soldiers are highly trained, armed to the teeth, and advanced to the core - and they're more than prepared to destroy their enemies in close combat and defend their home at all costs.

The Grand Armada of the Dominion: Quite possibly one of the most mismatched patchwork of warships the galaxy has ever seen. While many of the vessels have been contracted out by corporate sector affiliates, the armada contains sizable contributions from Republican and Sith defectors, Mandalorian capital ships, and various privateers and independent spacers who've elected to call the Dominion their home. Many Voidsmen are well versed in the art of astrogation, combat in vacuum, vessel maintenance, and other specialized roles such as gunnery, engineering, or serving as Armsmen, those who defend the vessel from boarding attacks and uphold order.

The Dominion Security Bureau

Formed by a man who knew to watch for backstabbers, the Dominion Security Bureau was created to find the enemies of the Dominion, both foreign and domestic, and eliminate them before they can become a major issue. Primary duties include intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) functions as well as collection, processing, analysis, and dissemination (CPAD) of all-source intelligence and operational data. Additional assignments vary depending on the mission profile but are often eliminations of high value targets, covert sabotage, and covert deterioration of opposing forces' assets. The entire operation is based out of an Endurance-class fleet carrier in order to allow it to rapidly respond to any situation that arises. The Bureau is divided into three directorates: the Scapel and the Hammer, and the Anvil.

The Scapel is the quieter side of the DSB, acting as the agency's eyes and ears. They normally work alone, operating behind enemy lines and acting as assassins and saboteurs. If the Dominion needs someone dead, destroyed or watched, the agents of the Scapel are there to find it.

The Hammer is much louder, they are generally deployed on missions that are more likely to see combat, either raids, operations taking place in active combat zones, or when the DSB wishes to make it's presence known. Many are trained to resist interrogation, whether it be conventional or Force-based methods. These operators are well trained in all of their shadowy arts, kill with cold precision, and will die with a suicide pill in their throats before secrets come out.

The Anvil are the ones who work behind the scenes. They're the support specialists. Operations intelligence, all-source intelligence, and the other cogs that allow DSB operatives to work their magic. Most notably, there are numerous Anvil operators who work on the electronic warfare spectrum, many of whom are often called 'slicers.'

General OOC Questions

  • Jedi and Sith under the same roof? The Dominion supports total religious tolerance, including those of a more zealous nature. Conflicts between groups within the Dominion will be dealt with as required, but both Jedi and Sith have served under the Dominion in the past and have been able to work together successfully. That being said, more radical Jedi and murder-crazed Sith likely will not fit under our faction's umbrella.

  • What makes your faction different? The Dominion draws inspiration from the Eternal Alliance of SWTOR. It is an amalgamation of every creed from across the galaxy. The Dominion's diversity is both its strength and its primary source of tension ICly.

  • What are your goals? The Dominion seeks to expand its influence to provide for the millions of refugees under its umbrella. It is united against the the world, more or less, and will do whatever it deems necessary to carve a place for itself in a cold and unforgiving galaxy. Our Jedi elements seek to restore their idea of the order, the Mandalorian Enclave is looking to find a new home for their people, and the few Sith we have are seeking to establish their power bases without the risk of having them destroyed by rivals. Other factions within the Dominion have their own end games, and as such the faction's general goals tend to be quite varied.

  • So, space America? Sort of, with a mix of old fashioned feudalism and a constitutional monarchy thrown in. Our inspirations were drawn from the Jedi Lords, The Eternal Alliance, and the Counts of Serenno.

  • How do you expect so many pieces and parts of various factions to fit and work together? A general sense of unity is shared throughout the Dominion, which has helped to ease tensions. That does not mean those tension have disappeared entirely. Part of the Dominion's charm is just how forced together its different cultures have become. There is, to put it simply, the common goals of survival and accounting for sentient rights.

  • What kind of characters fit? Anything really. We have RP that can suit just about any archetype save for the most extreme of evils. There are no restrictions on alignment within the Dominion, so long as the characters do not violate the Dominion's sentient rights laws. That being said, chaotic evil character may find themselves having trouble enjoying their time in the Dominion if they're out to murder civilians and the like.

  • Force Users? The Dominion currently hosts no 'chosen' force sensitive group, as equal tolerance of all religion has been pushed heavily. We have a handful of Jedi looking to establish their own order at the moment, but anything is possible if people wish for it to happen.

  • Is this the same Dominion that fought in the rebellion of Atrisia? That would be us. This incarnation of the Dominion is the direct result of the battle for Atrisia.
