Superior Firepower - The Devastator, while ancient, is a very powerful star destroyer capable of tearing through fleets of inferior starships with its massive array of turbolaser weaponry.
Indomitable - The Devastator can take quite a few blows before succumbing to destruction due to its advanced defence systems including redundant shielding and ablative hull plating.
Weaknesses:
Slow - The maneuverability of the Devastator is downright atrocious. Fast enemy ships can exploit this by maneuvering behind the star destroyer, where the vessel has a natural blind spot, and attacking it.
Ancient - The Devastator has been around for over 800 years. While it has been recently retrofitted with the era-appropriate technology, some aspects of it are still old as the ship itself. Enemies can easily exploit this aspect by using tactics that were developed by the Rebellion to destroy Imperator-classes.
Description:
The Devastator acted as Darth Vader’s flagship during the battle of Scariff, in which he annihilated the enemy rebel fleet. It was also crucial in the capturing of the Tantive IV. It was present at the battle of Hoth under the command of Admiral Jhared Montferrat. It remained part of Vader’s flotilla, Death Squadron, despite the change of ownership. The ship met it’s demise during the battle of Endor. It wasn’t until almost a thousand years later that the wreckage was reclaimed by the third rendition of the Galactic Empire and placed under the command of Thrael.
The Devastator has been heavily refitted. It’s armament being immensely updated and even expounded upon. It’s hull has almost been completely been remade with ablative plating and it’s been given redundant shielding to further increase defenses. What it has in armament and defense it lacks in maneuverability and speed. Lighter faster enemy vessels could easily maneuver to it’s blind spot and hammer it’s weak points if it is left undefended. Similarly it has a low fighter escort, so bombers combined with fighter escorts might also exploit its weak points.
