SETTING INFORMATION
  • City Name: Elbright
  • Classification: City
  • Location: Hoylin
  • Affiliation: Confederacy
  • Population: Moderate
  • Demographics: Elbright City is almost completely human in terms of a permanent population. Temporarily they host all sorts, as Elbright is very popular as a workshop city for all sorts of education camps and vacation retreats.
  • Wealth: High As they host a very sizable number of educational workshops, camps, and assorted such events, Elbright City is one of the wealthier centers within the North.
  • Stability: High Police are often more present in Elbright, as the number of offworlders attending seminars and summer camps is greater than the rest of the planet, which results in a greater sense of law and order to offset the higher crime rate in comparison. People take security very seriously here.
  • Freedom & Oppression: As with most of Hoylin, Elbright city greatly values freedom, and will happily do what they can to let all feel included to do as they wish.
  • Description: Elbright City is one of the larger cities, bordering the point of divide between North and South hemispheres. They rest next to a large lake, and center around the one massive structure, the Center of Culture. There are roads out leading to a number of camps, workshop centers, and residential areas.

POINTS OF INTERES

Center of Culture:

Pictured well above is the majority of Elbright. The right most side features the Center of Culture, a towering structure designed to be aesthetically pleasing and inviting. The majority of seminars and workshops are hosted here, when possible. In a more general sense, its lower levels are used as something of a massive learning center to promote cultural understanding of both Hoylin's culture and those that come to the planet from elsewhere. Much like a museum. A surprisingly popular spot with children.

Grand Theater:

On the left most side you can make out the structure known as the grand Theater of Elbright. Here there are plays, art exhibits, operas, like a great temple to art itself. All this and more is hosted here, a popular tourism spot in addition to the camps and workshops.

SECURITY
Medium
  • Standard Police Forces
  • Security Cameras
  • Local militia
  • Few sparse security droids
  • Security guards
  • Alarms

HISTORICAL INFORMATION

Elbright, a beautiful lakeside city and cultural capital of the North, what more is there to say really? Even though there are no massive countries, and most every city is left to their own devices with oversight by the new Monarch, Elbright has long been referred to as the Rural City, and a beloved hotspot of activity. This was the very city offered to the Confederacy as a center of learning, when they came to cure the planet of the Nothing.

Relatively unaffected by the Nothing, despite relative proximity, Elbright has long been one of the more popular vacation spots due to the beautiful lake, Grand Theater, and the Cultural Center's many, many exhibits. The city has seen something of a surge of activity in recent years, as the backwater world's natural beauty and skylight phenomenon has become more well known after inclusion to the Confederacy's systems.

The campsites are often full of offworlders hoping to spend a few days within the natural setting, away from the hustle and bustle of modern life, or to fish and enjoy the lake. A luxury many cannot afford. Workshop activity has also increased, in particular as many Confederacy citizens hope to learn from influential members of the CIS leadership, as they had held their own workshops the day Hoylin joined. Other than this, the city has had little of note save for the most recent of history.
