Private The Check-In

A headache was forming in Android's brain as the two executives dueled with words. The only interesting bit of information that Saul took in was that Liin was far more entrenched in the Dashiell Family than he would ever have imagined. As for the argument, while it would be nice for the galaxy to get hold of this techonolgy, Saul could see why in hindsight the dangers of handing this techonogly out. "I'm with Liin... It would be nice but if this techonolgy create rouge force users than we are going to be more in trouble than we are already in. I guess the comprise would be something like limited medical trails conducted that would be kept under wraps as much as possible to see what her research can mean to the wider galaxy but still... That puts Liin in the crosshairs again. So if the field expert wants to keep this research to herself, thats alright with me."

He wished he could help Liin out more against Judah's verbal pressure but he wasn't apart of the sciencist part of her life except when the Force Scientist ran checks on his own abilities. Seeing the danger of these abilities might be enough to make Judah back down."I'm what happens when this line of research gets out of hand..." Taking a moment to center himself, Saul brought a drop of force energy up to the surface, causing them to spark with electricty before the Android snuffed it out, one to protect the lab epuipment and two, to prevent the Liin's pet from getting stressed out. "See what Ms. Terallo is talking about now?"

"It was just a thought is all."

Judah had no stake in the game. More he was working through the thoughts of Liin and her research out loud. Up until roughly ten minutes ago he had zero idea what the woman was researching. It was all new to him and the implications were there, but again, he didn't know the extent of what she had planned. Or had worked on. Apparently Balun did on some level.

He watched the little party trick done by Mister Whesai and he nodded, eyebrow raised. Judah wasn't sure what to think. He really had no opinion on the situation or the abilities of Mister Whesai.

"Party trick? You do that to impress the girls at the bar? I know I would have if I was your age."

Judah put not stock into the 'experiment' status of Mister Whesai. He had heard all of this nonsense with his grandson, Kellan. According to his son the boy was part experiment - Sithspawn or some nonsense. He put no thought into it, treating this grandson as he would with any other boy. Lots of activity, adventure, and a firm foundation to turn into a man. Experiment or research didn't fully shape one's life in his opinion.

"In all seriousness, Liin has been experimenting on you as well?"

Saul touches on one of the dangers of my research. Rogue Force Wizards was one thing; entire armies of them was another. There was enough chaos out there in the Galaxy as is.

But limited medical trials? I do not believe that there is any way to be able to limit my research to one field or another. It is no different than saying that one could limit Force Wizards and what they are capable of now. It is impossible.

I take another sip of the tea as Saul shows Mister Dashiell a spark of his abilitied. And for a brief moment my body tenses as I remember what happened the last time that he had used them. Yet that moment was fleeting as there appeared to be no hint of a side effect.

Mister Dashiell's comments lightened the mood however, and for that I am grateful. However his secondary question almost caused me to choke on my tea. I coughed and sputtered after setting the cup and saucer down on the table. And once I was able to regain my breath back; I answered him.
"I have not experimented on him; no. Someone else did, using some of my stolen data. The biomass samples here are what I have experimented on." I leave out the part about experimenting on myself for now. "More power creates more conflict. All of this is to understand that power and then go beyond from there."

The Android couldn't help but chuckle as he put his up against the forcefield, letting Liin's little friend feel him out with a barrier between. "I mean... technically that's how me and Liin met. We bumped into each other at a dance, and nothing went right. We both got affected by our powers, my legs went haywire... and yet she still gave me this job and let me live with her. So my powers are a pretty good chick magnet for at least one person, Mr Dashiell." The smile that he turned around to give Liin was one of pure chaotic energy, knowing what thoughts would brew up in Judah's head at the Android's words. Serves him right for not calling ahead.

Pretty much letting Liin answer his backstory for him, Saul nodded, glad Liin had laid out the worst parts of his backstory. The last thing he needed was for Judah to think he was an evil creation, trying to take his god-daughter away. His feelings for Liin aside, he was in the best place mentally he had been in a long time working for her. He needed to keep this working relationship alive, because without this postion Liin had put him in, he wouldn't exactly be out on the streets but not being able to talk to the young blonde anymore would be devestating.

"I suppose that makes sense Liin"

It didn't make any sense to him at all. Yet he wasn't going to pry any further right now. He would only look like an idiot at this point. Judah decided he would put some dots together first then go from there and decide what to ask. Perhaps privately. Liin may need more help than she let on - despite seemingly living a well enough life here.

Upon hearing what Mister Whesai said, the old salvager arced an eyebrow. Turning to look at the man it didn't take a genius to know what was said. What was implied. Not even implied, as his powers were a 'chick magnet' that had ensnared Liin. It was unfortunate that the boy said such a thing now. Judah had nothing but time. Time meant interrogation.

"So, Mister Whesai, Liin is your girlfriend? What are your intentions with her? You've already moved in. I pray you aren't thinking this is a fun and games situation. Liin has certain....expectations to meet and I would expect any suitor to rise to the occasion."

It wasn't even the beginning of his speech but Judah figured he had touched on enough points that he could continue to the heart of the matter.

"So you've moved in. What is next?"

The comment Saul had raised about his powers being a successful chick magnet caused me to raise my left eyebrow in surprise.

However I was equally surprised; if not even moreso by Mister Dashiell's comments and inquiries. To which I was very glad that the tea cup and saucer were safe on the table; for I would surely of dropped them at that very moment. "
Girlfriend? Suitor?" I muttered those words under my breath in disbelief. History was repeating itself for once again people are under the assumption that I am involved with someone. Those rumors were a part of why I had left the corporate field due to the embarrassment that I carried with me because of those lies. And now here I am facing the same situation all over again. Yet I could not flee my own sanctuary residence. Most especially while there is a bounty on my head.

So I had to try to address the matter calmly.

"
He is no more my boyfriend than you are, Mister Dashiell. On the contrary; Saul has developed concerning side effects to the type of serum that he was given by whomever that it was that had stolen parts of my research. I do believe that it could be due to his cybernetics. So I am hoping to resolve them with the belief that he will no longer be a danger."

Having a hard time not laughing, Saul managed a playful smirk towards Liin before turning to address Judah's statement of "honoring expectations". There were two ways the older man meant that line. That Liin needed the right person to uphold her societal expectations, or face the worst implication: that she couldn't be seen holding the arm of a stitched-together zombie. Either way, the CEO was kind of right; it's why he usually stayed out of Liin's affairs as much as he could.

Letting Liin talk for him, the nod he gave confirmed her answer. "My own answer to your last question is "We keep going". I help Liin when she asks even if it's keeping her from getting lonely and bored, and she helps me find secrets about my creation. It's a pretty even trade." He also confirmed he and Liin weren't a couple. "If she wanted me romantically, I would drop everything for her, but her lab and work are her first love. They'll have something I can never reproduce, the thrill of discovery. I just have the consolation prize of being in her orbit." And with that, he had said his peace on where he and Liin stood and where they probably always would. He knew his place, and right now, being Liin's boyfriend just wasn't in the cards. "If you have any other questions, Mr. Dashiell, now is the time."

Listening to the two of them, Liin Terallo Liin Terallo and Saul Whesai Saul Whesai seemed to be on two entirely different pages. Liin was convinced he wasn't her boyfriend and at this point Judah was certain a man could kiss her and she still wouldn't believe it. Mister Whesai's words were one of a lovesick man who was eager to take the next step yet convinced himself not to bother until said girl noticed said boy.

And here here had been lamenting about his own love life. At least he wasn't waiting for a girl that was literally right in front of him. If he was a different man, he would have shaken Mister Whesai's shoulders and tried to get any sense into the android to stop thinking and make the first move. That was the problem with both of them, they thought entirely too much.

"One can argue there is a lot to discover in a romantic relationship. However, this may not be the time nor place for such debate." Judah paused for a moment, looking at the pair again. "No more questions on what is clearly something between you two but both of you are too ignorant to see."

A pointed look at Mister Whesai, as if he didn't entirely believe the man. Liin he did believe was oblivious.

"Now, what's next on the tour."

Lonely and bored? I cannot imagine a time when I had incurred such feelings. There is always work to be done. And if there was not; I had reading to do. Or even painting. Yet in this day and age I could not really afford to do much of anything but to focus on my research. It was nearly as though my life depended on it. In a lot of ways my freedom depended on it.

And as Saul continued; his words just caused me to close my eyes, as though doing so would shut everyone out. I did not need anyone having cause to spread rumors about me again. Most especially when they are truly false ones.

I opened my eyes as Mister Dashiell began to speak, letting us know that he was not going to debate the far-fetched notion of his. Yet it all solidified to me that I am going to have to be very careful about having any bodyguards around. First it happened with Balun Dashiell Balun Dashiell and now with Saul. Everyone assumes that their jobs were all a ruse to keep them close to me. How absurd.

And I am not ignorant. I may be naive at times; but not ignorant. Still it is not my place to correct him. Doing so might just add more fuel to the fire.

Thankfully the topic was changed; returning to that of my laboratory. I picked up the tea cup and saucer. "
There is not much more to show you. As I had said, my laboratory is small. I spend most of my time here or at the park. Did you wish to see the park?"

Saul saw the look on Liin's face and started to wish he had just let Judah dig his own hole by himself. A frown creased his face when they saw the stress he was putting on her. The Android was just trying to be honest about his feelings for her, he never hid them but her reaction... well it never made him want to talk about the subject ever again. Looking down at the spiny creature that was twisting his head as it looked back, he wished he was born as one of these creatures. It would only have the urge to find food and defend itself... That would be a good life...

Walking out silently to the kitchen, he quickly got together a quick sandwich he could eat on the go, leaving the two to collect his thoughts. Maybe it would be best to give up this gig... Maybe it was just the added stress of having Mr. Dashiell here but the android knew he wasn't helping. The purple haired young man needed to scrub his doubts and regrets from his mind and the park seemed the best place to do it.

Waiting until Saul Whesai Saul Whesai left the laboratory, Judah let his gaze drift over to Liin Terallo Liin Terallo .Eyebrow raised in a fatherly manner, expression on his face clear he wanted her to pay attention to his next words very closely. Liin could make her own decisions but he considered his the view of a third party individual with an independent viewpoint.

"Is Mister Whesai....stable enough to be a bodyguard? He seems overly sensitive and running from the situation twice now. Maybe he's just having an off day, I'll try to save my judgement until I've seen a few hours worth of his actions."

Perhaps there was more to the story. For all he knew Mister Whesai could be a down-on-his-luck military veteran with too much post-traumatic stress. Been there, done that, got the shirt as the saying went. Either way, his judgement mattered little. Liin was an adult - although a bit sheltered - and could technically choose who she wanted to guard her.

"The park?" Odd one would hole up in a laboratory but also go to an exposed park often. Especially if she was supposed to be in hiding. Maybe one of those hiding in plain sight type of people. "Sure, I'd love to see the park. I've taken up birdwatching as another hobby. Not going to pass up an opportunity to enjoy a little nature."

The look on Mister Dashiell's face seemed to request my full attention. And so I gave it. At first I had thought that he was going to once again give comment on his imagined love life for me, but thankfully he did not. Instead he touched on Saul in a different way.

"
He has gone through much. And the side effects of the serum that was given to him by people unknown, compounded by injuries in battle has been taking it's toll. That is why I have been having him stay." Instability is a big part of that. And although I am not at fsult for the experiments done on him nor his battle wounds; I still feel somewhat responsible given that the setum used on him is loosely based on my own.

Mister Dashiell agreed to visit the park, and so I lead the way out of my laboratory, back through my residence and to the elevator; all the while providing some light commentary. "
It is a beautiful park. There is a secluded area within a grove of trees that I often picnic at. And it is where I can practice my own skills safely should I wish to. The Diarchs check in on me there from time to time. Though I don't expect them to be around today. Not with the current conflicts. However should those conflicts arrive here; I will need to leave."

Both of the people in the lab had forgot that the door had been left open with the words they were saying drifting down to Saul's ears. Needless to say, Judah basically calling him mad behind his back didn't exactly make him happy as he muttered. "Insane... I'll show you insane..." Needless to say, he kept to himself when the two came up from the lab, focusing on finishing his sandwich and packing it away in a tupperware container, responding to Liin's words by adding. "We will have some time atleast before that needs to happen, if that happens at all. We ready to go?"

Judah nodded, remembering his own stay with Thessa before they were married or even dating. He was in no shape at the time to stay alone so he could certainly sympathize with Mister Whesai. Sometimes, in these situations, the mind wandered too much and it wasn't good to be alone to stew in such ruminations.

"I understand completely. I've been in a similar situation myself. Its best he has someone like yourself then, if he doesn't appreciate it then I do. Maybe he will come around sooner under your care."

Having said his peace, it wasn't long before Mister Whesai entered once again as Liin Terallo Liin Terallo mentioned their plans for the day. In addition to bodyguard work, Saul Whesai Saul Whesai also seemed to be keeping Liin on a type of schedule. He cooked. He protected her. He planned her schedule. Sounded like a domestic partnership to him. Quite the interesting situation.

"Sounds like an excellent plan. Should any conflicts arise and you need safe harbor, I do have several places in the Tingel Arm. No large governments out there. You and Mister Whesai will be more than welcomed when the time comes. Now." Judah paused and smiled. "Let's go see this park, take a little tour. Might be a good time to answer any questions anyone has for myself as well. I've always enjoyed a walk and talk."

They both did not seem to carry the worry that I do. I worry very much about a coming conflict. I worry about those seeking my research to invade this little safe haven. And I worry too about those that I can call friend to be harmed or killed from those efforts. In my experience it is far easier to mourn the loss of a stranger than it is to mourn someone that I know.

But I put those thoughts behind me for now. For today I am to be a tour guide of not only this little safe haven of mine, but also of certain aspects of myself that I would otherwise not make public.

I collect a small empty cannister from a cupboard near the door and tuck it underneath my arm before leading the two gentlemen out of the door and towards the lift. "
Well, you know me, Mister Dashiell; I am not really one to pry into other's lives. It is not really my business to do so. But I do hope that everything is going well for you; in all aspects." The lift door opens once we near it and I step inside of it; pivoting on my heel to turn myself around. "I am certain that you will find some beautiful avians to observe within the park. Some of the park's guests feed them, which works well for me. It frees up more insects for me to bring to my little laboratory companion." Any questions that the two may have about the little cannister are surely answered with now.

There was always someplace else to stay in this galaxy if needed. Like Mr. Dashielle said, there would always be places out there that the major government's ignored or couldn't reach. It was just a question of getting to them.

Saul rested against the back of the lift, his eyes closed, trying to rest while he could. It didn't surprise him that Liin collected free food for her pet at the park. This was the woman who had never played a video game in her life after all. Nothing really surprised the Android about her anymore. Now all he could do is try to destress from the interaction so far while he let the two aquanitances yap away.

Liin Terallo Liin Terallo Judah Dashiell Judah Dashiell

"So your pet eats insects? I find that fascinating. I would have never guessed from looking at it. I would have thought small animals like frogs or minnows really. "

The creature seemed big and active to live off insects - but many other creatures in the wild did, so it wasn't so far fetched. Nature in such a manner, like having an interesting pet, wasn't up his alley but he could see the appeal. As the lift travelled down, Judah noticed Mister Whesai seemed unusually quiet. Liin had mentioned the lad's struggles so he wasn't overly surprised by this, it seemed a lot weighed on his shoulders.

A soft ding indicated they had reached lobby level. Leaving the turbolift, the trio drifted outside, with Judah relying on Liin to navigate him to this park.

"Have you considered bringing your parents here? Or is it still unadvisable?" Judah paused. "What of you Mister Whesai, do you have family?"

I found it a little amusing that Mister Dashiell refered to my laboratory companion as a pet. It could not be further from the truth, however. The specimen was a direct link to the Hive mind that Mr. Usher Mr. Usher was a part of. However unlike the other biomasses that I was given to test on; this one was allowed to become sentient and seperate. Although it could not speak; it could see, feel and hear. It allowed me to reach out to the Hive mind whenever I needed to. I have no idea as to where the Hive mind is located; yet it matters little for there had been no reason for me to learn of such a secret. I respect it's privacy as much as I hope that others respect mine.

"
Perhaps at some point it will evolve into requiring larger things to eat. However it takes some of the physical characteristics of what it consumes. And given how it has assumed the role of my protector, it seems to prefer to consume those with bodyarmor and sharp points." From a scientific point of view; it was perfect.

We cross the foyer and exit out of the front doors. The park begins across the street and so I await a break in the traffic to cross to it. "
My parents are unreachable at this time. They are still following proticol and I do not blame them. Some day they will no longer need to. Some day they will reach out to me. I must only be patient." As for whether or not Saul had any family; I could not guess.

Saul rested back against the back of the lift, holding a paper bag of breadcrumbs for the birds. He was going to need to keep himself busy while these two talked. When Judah tried to talk about Liin's parents and Liin pretty much refused him like she did to Saul, the Android let out a low chuckle. "You might as well not try. Liin is as stubborn as a Nerf when it comes to that. I think she would have made a good one in another life. And no, I don't have any family." Both of them could hear the bag crinkle as his grip crushed the bag's opening. That last sentence was said fast, like he was trying to avoid the question entirely. There was something he really didn't want to talk about, at least with Judah here. Maybe he would find out more with a bit of patience.

Judah Dashiell Judah Dashiell Liin Terallo Liin Terallo

"Your pet sounds, uh, interesting."
Which was an understatement. Taking on the characteristics of insects? Either way, he hoped she wasn't playing with fire.

Judah nodded, choosing not to say anything further. He assumed with Liin having a bounty on her there would be limited contact with her parents. Although it was odd that maybe the parents should also be in hiding with her. He wasn't aware of such security protocol or what had been discussed with Mister Whesai. He was not an expert in these types of situations.

"Sorry to hear, Mister Whesai." Head inclined to the bag of crumbs. "You are a birdwatcher too? I just started getting into it. "

Truly, he was. It seemed the man needed someone. At least it appeared he had Liin in some form or fashion.

Out of the building he followed Liin's steps to the massive park. Birds were already chirping. Large swaths of lawns intermixed with trees and walking paths with benches scattered about. A nice oasis within the hustle and bustle. Once they stepped inside it was as if they were in a complete world sway from everything.

"I can see why you like it here."
