Waiting in the sky
The fighter was a bit different, sure, but it was the type of fixer up import that Jared was definitely after. He’d been out here, wandering, picking up strays and bringing them back toward the Dawn Treader. The wandering Starchaser, the one who wasn’t quite sure where he stood. He was a Jedi, he was a Corellian, he was a Jensaarai. He was a mercenary and an explorer. But he was also one who listened. He was helping the groups he could. The Confederation, the Coalition, the Silver Order… He was around. The converted Victory Star Destroyer was the home to the Starchaser clan and a few other wanderers from a defunct Chiss and Unknown Region government.
The Treader had been converted to serve more as a carrier and live aboard heavy cruiser, not one that was deploying a garrison, but definitely one that could defend itself in a fight.
And that was why she, along with other freelance carriers were deployed. It was one of those fleets the Outer Rim was especially adept at. Trashy ships, with a drive to do what is right, but more often than not, what will pay. And here they were, along the Corellian Run from X to Y. Waiting for the beacon to light up, for the call to go out. Jared Starchaser, along with a few others were awaiting on standby. His after market Naboo Starfighter, sleek in chromium and navy paint. Hopper in the droid compartment, one taken from the E-Wing design his father favored.
Then the signal came, the hangar dimmed and the red launch lights turned to green. Modified hangar to give the fighters an increased launch velocity, and in quick succession the Naboo fighter, followed by a pair of Exalts and a pair of E-Wings were in space, coordinates downloaded. Turing to the trajectory, Jared didn’t give any order, he leapt the nimble fighter into the microjump.
And there it was. The cruiser in question. It had been jumping all over the Rim and was heading slowly towards other pastures. The Coalition was doing its best to keep the vessel at bay, well, once they realized what was going on. The ship had been bouncing in and out of systems, almost seemingly at random. The ship would spend time, seemingly wrestle control of any droid components around the station. Depending on where they were, they were either using the automated units to attack the colony and station, or they were stealing the units and quickly jumping to the next system.
One thing that was reported through the Judges network is that it seemed to be a handful of cruisers making hyperspace jumps. As a result, they contacted the Coalition for assistance, and they pulled in more ships, to help keep watch. But there were report of similar ships down the Trade Spine. Word had gone out to the Corellian Confederation and the Silver Order, alerting them of what was going on.
As Jared and his wingmates arrived in system, they weren’t far from the Outer Rim turf, but they weren’t quite to the Confederation yet. Another ship had been the ones to call the trap. One of the larger Judge interdictors, operating on the boundary of the Coalition. “Starchaser, we have you here. Gravity well is activating momentarily.” The call was up and Jared saw that one of them Coalition Starhawk-inspired cruisers had the pirate cruiser in its tractor beam. Would be good to have it pinned.
“Here they come!” Came the call from the Judge. Fighters and mining droids spilling out of the leader cruiser and one of the frigates. Jared grabbed the controls a bit tighter, the droids were moving a bit quicker, lining themselves towards the platform and the fighters were on an intercept course for the fighters. Jared rolled his fighter to orient himself to the incoming, no time to check the local system for who else was arriving.
OOC: A quick little space operation. Ships have been entering the Outer Rim. They’re hacking automated systems, from mining droids to droid fighters and moving towards the Core, down the Corellian Trade Spine. They’re hitting stations with automated systems, hacking them, and stealing them.
Objectives; Engage in Space combat to fight the pirates, Defend the trade platform, capture the enemy cruiser and the hacking technology.
