The Cavill Effect

I opened my main page to find something rather odd: the roleplaying and factory main links on the page were blinking rapidly as if a gif were making them flash. And I believe I've narrowed it down.

In both case, the most recent poster was Jacen Cavill, and his gif avatar would be moving along with other gif avatars as the "hyperlinks" flashed on and off. But, when someone else would post earlier than him, even with a gif avatar, the flashing would stop...

....Narrowing it down to Jason. We have our culprit, Watson!

Wondering if GIF avatars are the problem. Someone with a GIF avatar posted in Art & Design and now that entire section is flashing for me.
