OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION

SETTING INFORMATION
  • Starship Name: The Cabochon
  • Starship Model: Star Destroyer
  • Classification: Pirate Shadowport
  • Homeport: Asteroids
  • Travel Route: It orbits a sun.
  • Affiliation: Blackthorne, The Black Hand, The Brethren
  • Crew Complement: Derelict
  • Notable Crewmembers: N/A
  • Accessibility: Found in a forgotten system torn asunder by war eons ago, the Cabochon was not easily found to begin with. Unearthed by Captain Blackthorne through chance, upon entering the Cabo system it was not readily noticed during the initial sweep. The Cabochon sits in Capy's Center Ring, a secondary orbital ring around the main sun just outside the orbital path of Cabo the moon. Diagnostics of the system were initially flawed due to a heavy concentration of magnetic ore in the Outer Ring but when finally detected it came as a surprise. The Cabochon has a tendency to blend in with the asteroid field due to its aged and pitted exterior. Navigating to it can be a challenge, even for the experienced pilot, given the concentration of space debris surrounding it, and larger fleets would find it exceedingly problematic to navigate.
  • Description: A derelict and ancient Star Destroyer situated in a heavy ring of asteroids and space debris. The exterior surface is of a curious rust color. The ship itself has sustained visible damage from a battle ages old. A good majority of it bares scars and scorch marks when viewed up close. Similar in nature to The Cove, the Cabochon plays party to the free Pirates and outlaws of the galaxy. Ruled over by the Pirate Lord Blackthorne of the Brethren court, the Cabochon's usual suspects tend to lean more towards their loyalties to this particular Pirate Lord and her following whereas the Cove stands as a more neutral port of call. Here one can find all manner of races and species, though perhaps less varied and equally represented as the Cove. Notably, the common faces around the Cabochon all bear the same marking somewhere on their flesh: a black hand.

INTERNAL DEFENSES
Though previously created for war, the Cabochon sits an atrophied version of its former glory. With the hyperdrive completely obliterated and the engines striped after it's defeat eons ago, the remaining main and sub reactors powering the ship were able to be re-engaged. This has allowed for use of what defenses remain functional upon the derelict: blast doors, auto turrets, ray shields projectors, and a fully wired security surveillance system. Various security droids one might typically find on such a ship can also be found.

Externally the Cabochon's protective shields and minor defensive emplacements have been repaired, thus enabling it to stand as a stronghold in engagement, though it would rely primarily upon the various pirate ships at port for protection from invaders.

POINTS OF INTEREST

The Hangars: Coined "The Prongs," these hangars are able to accommodate hundreds of ships and serve as the hive entrance for all manner of wayfarers and scallawags. Docking fees are imposed on those coming to port via percentages of bounties paid to the Pirate Lord. Those in good favor with Blackthorne enjoy docking closer to the main hold of the ship in reserved, upgraded docking bays, while those of no repute have to find space further out along the prongs. Fees are waived for other Pirate Lords of the Brethren and certain guests of Blackthorne.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
[Please include at least one paragraph on the ship's history. Include who commissioned it and why. Who supports it now? What purpose did/does it serve? For older starship locations you can include historical events such as the Gulag Plague, the 400 Years of Darkness, and the Netherworld event where appropriate.]
