Dominion The Bryn'adûl | Battle for Clantaano III

Objective: B

Karad-To was already on fire, the Bryn'adul attack had been swift. As they typically were when Tathra lead them, victory was nearly certain every time the 10th Regiment deployed under him. But even with grand planets like this, it was still a beauty to behold. The Brutes of the 10th Regiment had divided their forces throughout the main centre of the city, moving to where the fighting was thickest. No surprise there. It made the Brute Emissary proud of his origins within the 10th. Feeling nostalgic wasn't a indication of an issue, surely?

Galak followed the trail of blood and gunfire, finding two squads of Brutes under fire from automated turrets. Galak opened fire at the turrets momentarily, drawing their fire away from the cover as he darted behind it himself.

"Call in support you Drone!" Galak barked at the Brute Major, slamming his free hand against the Majors shoulder. It was then that the Major turned over his gauntlet, revealing the destroyed stone. Galak grasped his forearm with his hand, tugging at his wrist and inspecting the destroyed communicator. It must've been hit by a stray bullet of the turrets, what bad luck.

Jedi Masters were never easy, and Tarad was no exception. As Tathra pushed to break the Besalisk guard again, the Jedi responded by redirecting his right Staff above Tathra’s Axe, a blur of motion as he swung for the Titan’s head. Tathra reacted quickly, opening his right hand, pushing down on the lower length of the Axe with his palm as he cocked his left wrist to the right. Tathra hunched low and to the right, dodging the seering hot blades of green and blue.

He saw the gap, a momentary one. He could’ve gutted him then and there but he would’ve lost his head if he tried. When the two sabers swung for his right, Tathra raised his left arm outward with the Axe upside down, blocking both blades with the upper length of the long-axes haft. As soon as the three collided, Tathra pulled upward and left; trying to hook both blades and push them away, thrusting his right gauntlet into the back of the Axe to give it additional explosive motion.

The strike would bring his Axe fully around in a horizontal grasp. Tathra immediately grasped the mid-length with his right hand, and swung for the Jedi’s stomach with a concise and non-committal strike. At most it could cause a serious gash.

Jedi or not, even in his youth he doubted his physical strength could’ve been a match for his adversaries. This was a truly foreign opponent, a creature of another world entirely that seemed to outmatch him at every turn. Tarad held the offence for a moment, but that was quickly taken from him as the crimson beast clashed with his again, only to quickly overpower him.

Though the Jedi was no fool, he knew a few back and forth's were nothing. He used the strength of their clash to his favour, it allowed him to retreat a few steps as he regained his footing. Reactivating both Staffs fully resumed a guarded stance, ready to counter attack.

He knew their Chieftain would not relent.

He’d forced him to retreat, Tathra brought his guard up defensively as he rose to his full height. A lull in the combat came as Tathra stared down his opponent, watching as he assumed a new stance.

The battle around them continued to rage on, the Clantoonians were fighting as fiercely as they could but it would never be enough. The Titan darted forward, closing the distance again whilst being mindful they were getting closer to the energy syphon.

If Tathra moved into his flank, he’d only be able to use one saber momentarily. That would give Tathra the opening he needed. Tathra pushed for the Jedi’s right side, slashing with a downward strike at his right arm.

He was barely able to catch his breath when Tathra striked again, but this time he got close and pushed to his right side. He instinctively turned to face him, he wouldn’t allow Tathra to take any more control of the fight than he already had.

He needed to create space between them and perhaps not simply by retreating again and again. The Jedi fuelled his speed with the force, raising his right Staff-saber in protest only to pull away at the last moment as he stabbed forward with his left staff; coming between his right side and the Axe as he the two weapons clashed for a moment.

Immediately Tarad would release his right Staff into his upper arm, striking at his left saber and the Axe to push it to his left and his enemies right. At the same time his lower arm stretched to the side for balance as he kicked out with his right leg at Tathra’s abdomen.

In a blur of motion, Tathra was caught mid-step by a kick to his stomach. He was about the bring up the lower length of the Long-Axe’s haft in defence of an impending strike when the Besalisk delivered a stunning kick that threw him from the bridge.

Tathra fell through the sky for a few mere seconds before crashing hard on his back onto the lower bridge. He weased, catching his breath after nearly being winded by his own weight crashing into hard metal.

The Titan attempted to push himself to rise, but was unable to do so almost immediately. No doubt the Jedi would follow, he had to get up. Tathra pushed himself upright through gritted teeth.

It was almost instinctual as the Jedi followed in pursuit, deactivating both of his Staffs before he dropped. He zipped through the air, guided with telekinetic precision as the loose cloth of his tunic and dress shook in the air. When he landed, his drop was much quieter than his opponents.

It made him wonder for a moment how much Tathra weighed, and how hard he could punch. That same curious fear forced him to act, activating one of his two Staff-sabers in his upper arms as he spun it between them, a whirlwind of blades meant to cut through the ground where Tathra lay and dice him into pieces.

When the Jedi fell, Tathra darted away - rolling into a crouch as the Besalisk activated one of its two staff sabers. Tathra pulled the Axe close to his chest before striking upward into the air with a closed swing. The ruby beard of the Axe pulsed with energy as a massive blast of energy shot outward in an extension of his swing toward the Jedi Master.

This narrow bridge would make an escape unlikely. Tathra rose to his feet, rushing to the Jedi. If the Jedi Master did somehow dodge the attack - he would be there to capitalize on it.

As he turned into his attack, it seemed his adversary had narrowly dodged his spinning blades. He had been such a fool, to think bringing the end to this monster would have been so easy. And he’d made himself a immobile target, if even for a split-second.

The wave of energy came toward him, tearing through the air and the middle of the bridge before it reached him. Tarad removed his lower left arm from his Staff, punching forward with a fist that released a precise telekinetic strike into the middle of the red wave - hoping to break it.

In the same motion, the Jedi fuelled the force into his legs - leaping into a half-pirouette to his right. As he landed, Tarad could feel his heart slamming in his chest. That'd been close, too close. He silently cursed himself for not remembering the Axe's ranged ability.

Tathra Khaeus had killed enough innocents, now was not the time for slip ups.

He closed the distance as the Jedi adeptly thwarted his attack, Tathra would now take control of the fight. He would lead the offensive, but he would allow the Jedi to think otherwise. He would goad him into a reckless attack that perhaps would not appear as such. As the Jedi landed, Tathra brought his Long-Axe close in a one handed grip with his dominant hand.

His dominant hand sitting in the hand-guard as he brought it to shoulder height, the Axe's ruby beard opposite his head as he swung from right to left in a concise arc, striking at the seemingly stationary right saber. His right side would appear open. Tathra raised his right fist, ready to react to whatever the Jedi threw at him. He couldn’t lose, he refused to. Breathless and wincing, Tathra readied to strike a deadly blow.

"I can't, Emissary. Communications been busted."

Galak nodded, turning around in his crouched position as he brought his right hand to the side of his helmet; speaking into the internal interface.

"Ra'mak support on my location!" Galak barked his command before being forced to duck lower as a part of their cover was torn to shreds by the turrets ahead.

Galak grabbed the closest Brute to him, pulling her down low as well. It was just instinctive, protecting his fellow Brutes. He knew what it was like to be a grunt, to feel like you don't matter to the high ranking warriors. But they mattered to him, they always would. All they could do was ignore the ringing in their ears and the dull heat of the discharged plasma skirting around them.

It wouldn't take long for the Ra'mak to arrive, or so he hoped. Those creatures were fast and deadly, he just hoped it'd be here before they were all dead.

Tarad was starting to feel it, he hadn’t fought like this in years. His age was catching up with him. He wanted this fight to be over, he found his resolve - he needed to end this.

A monster like this would grow reckless eventually. That opportunity became clear as it believed Tarad vulnerable, striking to disarm his right saber perhaps. The Jedi brought up his right Staff to intercept, cocking his wrist as the Axe came close and spinning around to the back of the Axe to strike it away.

At the same time, he brought both of his left arms upward and attempted to spear his adversary in the neck with his left blade.

The Jedi fell for his trap. He did not see it, all he saw was a creature swinging an Axe. How wrong he was and how much Tathra would enjoy showing him that. When the Master attempted to strike his Axe, Tathra released it. He let go, his strength came from within. Not from tools. Tathra raised his right gauntlet, anticipating that the Jedi would attempt to thrust for a weak spot again like he’d done before when he’d gotten close. It was simple calculus, a comprehension of War and Strength.

The gauntlet blocked the Staff-saber and pushed it to the right as his dominant hand formed into a fist; now inside of the Jedi’s guard he went low and struck under the rig-cake for the Besalisk right kidney. If the Jedi was staggered, his right arm would come down in a knife hand strike aimed to strike the Besalisks neck aiming to crush the carotid artery.

In a blur of motion his adversary disarmed himself, dropping his weapon to get inside of the Jedi’s guard whilst his momentum was already spent. His eyes grew wide at the sudden strike to his side as pain shot through him, blood almost immediately coming out of his mouth as his liver was demolished by the incredibly powerful strike.

He uncontrollably grunted, hunching as the second blow came for his neck. He felt bone and flesh crunch in seething pain as the Jedi became disorientated, dizzy and staggering.

He didn’t even have time to think in all the pain.

A grin of satisfaction captured Tathra’s features. This was it. All that bravery and confidence was faint when they themselves knew they were in mortal danger. But he couldn’t feel more alive than he did now, in this very moment. Even with the advantage now, Tathra was still wary of his opponent's two Staff-sabers. He needed to create space.

His left hand reeled back and struck again at the centre mass of the Besalisk, the intent to break his rib-cage and knock him to the ground. Tathra’s left arm shot backward, open palmed as the Long-Axe’s descent was cut short, forced to return to his grasp. The massive Axe shot back up to his grip in a blur of speed, and in short order he held it in both hands by his waist and thrust downward in a stabbing motion for the upper torso and face

The third strike broke bone. Tarad cried out in pain as he was thrown back, slamming onto the ground. Pain engulfed everything, his heart albeit a wounded heart beat rapidly in his chest. He held tight to his Sabers, both almost from his grasp as he fell. He felt blood rushing from his body into his lungs, himself and his light on the precipice of a coldness he did not yet seek. He searched far, finding the warmth - the light. His strength. The force fuelled him, one last chance.

Tarad activated both of his Staffsabers just before Tathra’s Axe cut him in half, catching it in an X. The Axe’s thrust was strong enough it pushed through into the lens of his right Staff; destroying the forward facing blade. Still, he successfully redirected the blow to the right.

The Jedi rose to a crouched position - pushing through the pain, raising his half-destroyed Staffsaber - able to move from the saber lock now with its front blade destroyed. Tarad slashed at his adversaries waist in a wide swing with the back blade.

If the strike cut through, he’d immediately follow it with upward swings from both sabers

Much to his surprise, the Jedi rose in defiance of his onslaught. Tathra growled, a bestial fury filling his seemingly hate filled glare as the Jedi slashed through his waist. A grazing blow, but one that forced him to retreat as the Jedi quickly followed up his successful blow with two more.

Tathra took two steps back, bringing his left foot backward and behind his right as the leg bent; bracing himself as the compact shield was released from his right gauntlet, clashing with both lightsabers. He pulled his dominant arm back, bringing the long-axe behind the shield; concealing it for a moment before pushing away with his Shield and stabbing out at the Besalisks right knee with the Axe.

Again, Tarad found himself quickly outmaneuvered as a thick slice of his knee was cut through by the ruby blade of his opponents Axe, he cried out pushing Tathra back with all his might to clear the space between them. Once again, a Bryn was making his right leg less and less useful. He stepped back, taking the weight off his right leg as he leapt into a flip over Tathra, landing behind him.

It seemed the force still had his back yet, landing and backing up once again. He had to waste some time, prolong as long as he could to get his breath back.

Tathra was forced back a step as the Besalisk pushed to create space, he could kill him now. They both knew it, could feel it. Eagerly, the Titan followed up his strike to the knee with a torso strike, cocking his wrist halfway through the swing to rend flesh with the twist of the Axe. Instead his weapon came to a halt as it tore through air. This Jedi like so many others relied on their powers too much.

That was what more often than not made them such poor combatants when they simply couldn’t overpower their enemy. Tathra ducked, expecting a blade to strike for his head as he brought his right leg back and to the left before turning around clockwise. His right arm retracted the compact shield, an open hand waiting close to the upper-length of the Axe to counter whatever the Jedi would do. Tathra stepped closer, following the Besalisk. His glare staring right through the Jedi.

Cornering him.

(It has been a while since I've written this char, so please forgive me/let me know if I need to change anything!)

Objective: A

"And this, this is how to best utilize a weapon that extends," Naramphra spoke to the younger, more inexperienced Draelvasiers. Nonetheless, they were already quite excellent - and generally understood how to use the weapons that the Brynadul provided them. However, it was also their first test in the field and as such, they were under her guidance to succeed.

Hopefully, anyways. They had only just arrived perhaps half an hour prior. Her wrist flicked, the blade returning to its socket as she gave a rather evil grin to her trainees. "At the next sight of life, it will be yours to extinguish," she commanded as she motioned with her hands forward, allowing the others to take the lead for the next wave of defenders. It would be a shame that the battle was likely already won- she could already smell the smoke from the drones, and the other Draelsvairs, as they ravaged the city. It seemed the attack was coming along successfully. She nodded somewhat approvingly, impressed with the groups quickness and ferocity.

"Let us make for the next target, quickly," she ordered towards the group under her command. A bit slow, but that would fix itself with experience.
