OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: To make a custom Sithspawn for future storytelling.
  • Image Credit: Here, here, here, here, and here.
  • Canon: N/A.
  • Permissions: N/A.
  • Links: N/A.

GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Name: The Borrowers.
  • Designation: Sentient.
  • Origins: Unspecified Brotherhood of the Maw laboratory.
  • Average Lifespan: Two Hundred Years base. Extended usage of their Borrower Seals lower their lifespans.
  • Estimated Population: Semi-Unique.
  • Description: A Sithspawn created by the Brotherhood of the Maw, the Borrowers are human like beings capable of using their biological Dark Side Seals to "borrow" the power of the Dark Side to increase their strength. Capable of both being intelligent warriors and brutal monsters, this was to be a versatile Sithspawn with a true meaning behind being re-created, multiple times, due to the Dark Side. When the experiment went wrong, however, they were instead forced to become test subjects and killed off... save for a few, who either escaped or are still being tormented by the Maw.

PHYSICAL INFORMATION
  • Breathes: Type 1.
  • Average Height of Adults: 170 cm. base form, various in monster form.
  • Average Length of Adults: 120 kg. base form, various in monster form.
  • Skin color: Various shades of tan, blue, orange, green, purple, red, etc.
  • Hair color: Various shades of blonde, black, red, brown, and white.
  • Distinctions: Maintaining the basis of human physiology, the Borrowers at base form look similar to humans and near humans, except for more variation for skin and hair color. At their Monster forms, they take up the appearance of a large beast, each differing depending on the user's personality and genes. In base and transition forms, they have a Seal somewhere on their body, a Wheel shaped seal which spins, unwinds, and expands across the body the more the Borrower uses it.
    • The Borrowers have several forms, including...
      • Base Form: The base form of the Borrower, is identical to near-humans, save for the wheel shaped Seal somewhere on their body, taking the appearance of a tattoo. The Seals are dormant in this state, the user is not being flooded with the Dark Side power the seals absorb. The Seal in the stage is essentially in a form of eternal meditation, taking in Dark Side energy and power and sealing it within the Pinwheel. Only when the Seal is activated can this Dark Side power be accessed. If a Force User were to sense the individual in this state, their would be a difference between the Borrower's Force Signature and the Dark Side presence of the Seal itself; almost as if the two are different entities sharing the same body. [EXAMPLE.]
      • Half-Seal Activation: In the half-seal activation, the Borrower opens the Seal, sending the blades out as various tattoo-like line designs which engulph the body the more power if drawn from it. The user is gifted with more and more of the Dark Side power stored within the Seal, allowing for increased ease and prowess when using the Force. However, due to the nature of the Dark Side, their bodies will begin to show signs of corruption, and their very lifespan drips away by one year per every five minutes of use. While they still will show mental clarity, they are more susceptible to the Dark Side's violence in this state. [EXAMPLE.]
      • Minor Seal Form: Once the Seal completely covers the body in marks, the Seal's center circle expands and overtakes the blades. The Seals meld into the body and activate the Minor Seal Form. In this form, some more animalistic and monsterious features sprout from the body. Horns, claws, tails, and more grow out as the skin of the Borrower matches the Seal's darker shade. The Borrower enters a state of Force Augmentation, boosting their stats as long as the Seal is turned on. Force Rage threatens to take over. While still baseline sentient, the Borrower loses advanced thinking skills as the Dark Side fuels a need to slaughter. They can still use weapons and perform at a base level. They can still control themselves to an extent, if something such as a loved one overrides the Seal's instincts and Dark Side's sway. This takes tremendous willpower and self control, however, and is rare. [EXAMPLE.]
      • Monster Seal Form: The final form of the Borrower. When this mode is activated, the Seal completely expands and disintegrates into the body, letting the Borrower sponge in every ounce of the Dark Side it has. The Borrower shapeshifts into an... abomination. A monster completely grows and takes over, the Borrower losing all sanity to an unquenchable Force Rage. The Monster is usually twice the size of the baseline body, achieving sizes of Banthas and Rancors. All previous stats and Force abilities are amplified even further, and the Monster Form acts as a juggernaut of ceaseless bloodshed and destruction. This comes at a terrible price, however, as the Borrower is no longer able to control oneself at all, acting as a feral beast. The life expectancy drains by three years per five minutes, as opposed to one year per five minutes. Once the Seal is completely drained, the Borrower morphs back into Base Form, where they cannot activate any part of the Seal for forty eight hours. When the forty eight hours are reached, the Seal has absorbed enough Dark Side energy for basic use again. The Monster Form can only be achieved again after one week. [EXAMPLE.]
    • The Seal also have several other features and factors:
      • Overload And Forced Transformation: When the Borrower goes too long without activating the Seal, trouble starts. Without being outletted into the Borrower's body, the Seal's Dark Side energy just keeps piling up and swelling inside. Eventually, the dam bursts and the Seal overflows, forcing itself into the Borrower and forcing a Monster Seal Form Transformation immediately. Sometimes, a Borrower chronically avoiding Seal use can track the cycles of how long until this happens and set up contingencies, but this is still a grand inconvenience at the very least.
      • Biological Instinct: The Seal not only is a source of power, but a biological instinct. In moments of stress or grand danger, the Seal can activate its Half-Seal Transformation outside the will of the Borrower, a similar chemical response to stress as adrenaline. During these moments, the Borrower can deactivate the Seal, but why would they? They need the Seal to fight. To survive. Instinct makes them long for the Seal in these moments, dispositioned to yearn for its aid. It's in their very nature. Why resist? Why resist? Why resist? Why...
    • Races: The Borrowers.
    • Force Sensitivity: All.

    Strengths:
    • Seal Of Blessings: The Seal on their body is a gateway to power. By using the Seal and all its forms, the Borrower can commit powerful Dark Side feats and increase in strength, both physical and through the Force. This is how Borrowers earned their name. It is a sort of shortcut through training, though it comes at a powerful cost.
    • Power Of The Dark Side: The Dark Side can be absorbed into the unactivated Seal, being released upon activation. This power can greatly assist the Borrower in combat.
    • Just Like You: In their Base Form, the Borrowers are near identical to humans and near-humans. While the Seal may be visible depending on where it is located, it only looks like a tattoo of a wheel in Base Form. This means that this Sithspawn can be used to blend in with unsuspecting crowds well without dropping a hint of their nature.
    • Free Will: The Borrower is not just some puppet of the Sith and Maw. Each and every Borrower is their own person. With personality, traits, emotional needs, quirks, likes and dislikes... The Borrower is completely sentient, acting on their own accord in combat and capable of deviating from the path they were created for. Despite being born in the chains of the Dark Side, they can set themselves free.

    Weaknesses:
    • Seal Of Curses: Despite all the gifts the Seal offers, it also has its crutches. The Seal causes the Borrower to slowly lose their lifespan through extended use. This is due to the nature of the Dark Side and how physically taxing the Seal is. Furthermore, the Seal's Dark Side corruption causes loss of clarity, higher functioning, and even sanity due to the swelling Force Rage consuming the Borrower.
    • Battle For Control: The Seal is mostly under the Borrower's control. However, sometimes it is not. If the Borrower goes too long without activating any form of the Seal, the Dark Side absorbtion overflows and seeps out, forcing a Monster Form activation off the bat. Furthermore, the Seal is a part of the Borrower's biological nature and can activate in tense situations like adrenaline bursts in most people. If a Borrower is trying to not use the Seal at all, it will prove insanely difficult.
    • Free Will: Much to the dismay of the Maw alchemists, the free will of the sentient Borrowers goes far beyond just being smart in combat. The Borrowers are their own, maintaining those pesky minds of their own that can cause them to disobey orders and disregard the Sith. They could even go so far as abandoning the Brotherhood of the Maw and forging their own paths... A beautiful freedom for the Borrower, but a loss for the Sith...
    • Cut Off: As Force Sensitive beings, the Borrowers are greatly handicapped when in contact with Force Nullification. They lose their abilities and are far weaker, and unable to use the Seal. The Seal itself loses all of its previously absorbed Dark Side power, and once the Force Nullification is removed, it will take a forty eight hour recharge time for any kind of use.

    CULTURE
    • Diet: Their diet is mostly similar to humans, except for an increased need for protein, especially from meat, and less need for vegetables. They are susceptible to the same poisons as humans and near humans.
    • Communication: They communicate primarily through speech, though they also can use the Force telepathically, use body language, and read & write.
    • Technology level: Galactic Standard.
    • Religion/Beliefs: While these Sithspawn have been born and raised in the Maw's doctrines, they can break out and believe whatever they like. Even if it is difficult...
    • General behavior: In many ways, the Borrowers are similar to humans and near-human type species. They learn, breathe, and feel the same... mostly. However, as Sithspawn and due to the nature of their Seals, they are predisposed to use the Dark Side and rely on the Seal for strength. They are bred as warriors and creatures of destruction, and as such have been nurtured to be more emotional and use the Dark Side. Their is a longing for power and control within, which as Sithspawns under harsh Sith command they can never gain. Being as desperate and power deprived as they are, they are powerful beasts on the battlefield. Despite everything nature and nurture within them, they have free will and independent thought. If one chose, they could go against their nature and chose a more peaceful path... no matter how hard it could be.

    HISTORICAL INFORMATION

Created in a Sith laboratory for the Brotherhood of the Maw, Project Borrower was meant to create Sithspawn with the ability to feed on the Dark Side and grow in power, being both deadly warriors and beasts of death. Using humans as the base, the Sith twisted the DNA and biological materials using the Dark Side and Alchemy, eventually creating a species called The Borrowers. The Borrowers all were born with Seals, pinwheel marks somewhere on the boy which spun and spread the more it was used, increasing their physical and Dark Side strength. They were all trained to be warriors, and trained to use the Dark Side. It is unknown when they first appeared on the Battlefield, but their presence in skirmishes were short lived.

The Borrowers were unable to control their own Seals, completely giving into the blind rage of the Dark Side and destroying everything, even fellow Maw. What initially was a grand success turned into a preposterous failure. Coming to the conclusion that the Seals cursed the Borrowers to loss of control and insanity, the project was shut down.

What to do with the remaining Borrowers which had not died yet though? Well, they were promised that they would still "serve" the Maw. "Serve" as in being used as test subjects in Alchemist experiments.

Most of the Borrowers died off quickly due to their unstable nature. Scattered across the Maw's territory, one or two may be spotted in labs. Some may have escaped containment and roam the Galaxy as refugees from their very creators. Either way, this is a nearly extinct Sithspawn, brought to doom by their own power...
