Private The Blue Crystal Heist

Though Coruscant was known as the city planet that never sleeps, Coco Town takes that statement and runs with it. Due to the place being located between the industrial area and the senate district, Coco Town was unique that it bought people from all walks of life compared to the class segregated Coruscant which saw the rich and influential at the upper levels and the poor and downtrodden on the lower levels. Both classes communed with each other using the inns for cover. It ranged from business arrangements, politicians requesting clients to sabotage opponents through social humiliation at best and assassinations at worst.

With Coruscant being under the thumb of the Sith, things were made difficult due to the Sith doing major crackdowns on rich and poor alike. Heists and other seedy activities were riskier, but with risk came the opportunity to make more credits. Shoan was busy slurping on his milkshake and staring at the window for signs of Sith activity. It wasn’t even a month and already the Sith made themselves at home. It was a good thing Dexs Diner was a safe area thanks to the current owner somehow able to grease some palms of Sith officials.

But who knows how long that’ll last? All Shoan wanted to do was to take a rare blue crystal that was coveted by the client. He was offered a big payout so Shoan needed to be on top of his game. He also needed help but thankfully Shoans girlfriend: Brinna Dara Brinna Dara was right in front of him.

“Okay,” Shoan whispered. “We need to be careful. The Sith will show no mercy if we’re caught. My silver tongue ain’t convincing any of these fanatics.

As usual the details of the plan were incomplete. Brinna could guess how this was going to go down. She would shake her hips, bat her eyes and be as much of a distraction as she could be. Shoan would sneak into the home of the blue crystal. Shoan would get caught; Brinna would have to save him and the trouble they cause getting the crystal would cost almost as much as the job would pay off.

It was a good thing for Shoan he was so cute. And Brinna enjoyed action so much. Between his schemes always going wrong and his inability to spend credits anywhere other than a gambling table, it was a wonder that they had managed to make things work for so long. Luckily, Brinna did manage to put away some from the jobs she did. Smuggling runs with Sorr and slicing jobs on the side. It was enough to give them some stability for Shoan to use the rest to make life interesting.

Brinna rolled her eyes when Shoan expressed the need to be careful. She didn't much care for careful. Luckily, that part of the plan usually went out the window pretty quick and she would be allowed to be reckless to get them out of a mess. "Your silver tongue?" Brinna questioned with a laugh. "That only ever works on me. What's the rest of the plan?"

Shoan gave a snort when Brinna mentioned that his silver tongue hardly worked with her. “Oh I know you Brinna Dara,” Shoan chucked. “I use my tongue for a more…. Special matter when it comes to you. I can charm the armor off a Mandalorian with my words.”

Brinna worked hard and loved just as passionately. She stuck with Shoan even as his debts kept mounting up due to his gambling addiction. She sacrificed so much for Shoan even when he was kidnapped and tortured by Rory. It was the most painful and humiliating moment in Shoans life. To be beat up and watch his girlfriend be forced into servitude by a lecherous and vicious old man. He was happy that Sorr freed him and Brinna from Rory.

“We’re waiting on Elaar,” Shoan responded leaning closer to Brinna. “He represents our client and the one who has access to all the important points of the heist. You see the crystal is located in the former Jedi Temple. Obviously it’s heavily guarded by a Sith Soldiers possessing firepower that can match an Imperial fleet. So we need the codes, disguises whatever it takes so we can get this done as smooth as possible.”

He leaned back and sighed. “And to pay off my debt.” Shoan said looking at the window.

Brinna's lips curved—but not into a full smile. Something softer. Sharper around the edges. The kind that lived somewhere between amusement and warning. "Oh, I'm well aware of how you use that silver tongue," she murmured, her voice dipping just enough to match his tone without quite indulging it. "Though I seem to recall it getting you into more trouble than out of it."

Her gaze lingered on him a beat longer than necessary, deliberately so, before she let it drift—casual, unbothered—to the window beside him. Like the moment hadn't mattered at all. "Charming Mandalorians, though?" she added lightly, one brow lifting. "Now that I'd pay to see."

There was a quiet shift as he mentioned the temple, her posture easing rather than tightening—like danger was just another familiar weight she already knew how to carry. "Sith-held temple, heavily armed soldiers, and a priceless crystal sitting in the middle of it all…" she echoed, almost thoughtfully. "Mm. Sounds relaxing. Practically a vacation."

Her fingers tapped idly against her arm, rhythm unhurried, betraying none of the calculations running beneath. "And we're waiting on Elaar to hand us everything we need?" she continued, glancing back to Shoan with a faint, knowing look. "Codes, disguises, a neat little path in and out…" A soft breath of a laugh followed. "You do have a talent for finding the simplest solutions."

The sarcasm wasn't sharp—it was warm, almost playful, wrapped in just enough sincerity to blur the edge. Her eyes flicked briefly to his, catching the shift when he mentioned the debt. That part she didn't touch directly. Not yet. Instead, she leaned in slightly, just enough to close the space he'd opened earlier, her voice lowering again. "If this goes wrong," she said, almost idly, "I assume your plan is to talk the Sith into letting us leave?"

A pause. Her gaze held his. "…I'd actually like to see that too." For a second, something real slipped through—concern, buried deep and carefully disguised—but it vanished just as quickly behind that same easy composure.

Her hand brushed his sleeve as she pulled back, light and fleeting, like it might've been accidental.

"So," Brinna went on, tone brightening just a fraction, "when our mysterious Elaar arrives, we smile, we listen, and we pretend this is all perfectly reasonable." A small tilt of her head, eyes glinting. "And then we quietly figure out what he's not telling us."

A smirk spread across Shoans thin face when Brinna mentioned his silver tongues. Damn those double meanings. Brinna is a Master of them. Shoan can’t deny that he was into Brinna as much as Brinna was into him but sometimes she would embarrass him in public with her sultry suggestions. “I keep wanting her to continue to talk dirty to me.” Shoan thought miserably.

“The only language the Sith understand,” Shoan said looking out at the window. “Is violence. I’ll try to talk sense into them but it’s likely they’ll respond with blaster bolts or……” Shoan shuddered. “Lightsabers. Let’s hope it doesn’t come to that and that we’re just regular people whom the Sith will leave the grunts to.”

The Sith Covenant were a bunch of elitists. Anyone who wasn’t Force Sensitive were deemed inferior. It’s amazing that they’re non force users loyal to them. “Pretty much,” Shoan said. “But he needs to keep us alive so I can continue to pay off debts.”

Brinna let out a soft, amused breath at that, her head tilting just slightly as she watched him from the side. “Violence?” she echoed, like she was testing the word for flavor. “Mm. How reassuring. I was worried this might get dangerous.”

Her lips curved again—slow, deliberate—before her gaze drifted toward the window with him, following the same distant line of thought, though hers felt far less troubled on the surface. “Blaster bolts I can work with,” she went on lightly. “Lightsabers…” A faint shrug rolled through one shoulder. “Well. I suppose that just means we’ll have to be very convincing ‘regular people,’ won’t we?”

Her eyes slid back to him then, catching the unease he tried not to show, and for a moment—just a moment—she softened. Then it was gone, tucked neatly behind that familiar, teasing calm.

“Though I have to admit,” she added, stepping a little closer, her voice lowering just enough to keep it between them, “watching you try to talk your way out of a room full of Sith might actually be worth the risk.”

A beat. Her gaze held his, faintly amused, faintly challenging. “…if only to see how far that legendary charm really goes.”

Her fingers brushed along his arm as she moved past him, unhurried, as if the contact hadn’t been intentional at all. “Still,” Brinna continued, glancing back over her shoulder, “it’s comforting to know our mysterious employer is so invested in your continued survival.”

A slight lift of her brow. “Almost makes me feel secondary.” The tease lingered just long enough to land before she turned her attention outward again, scanning the room with quiet precision.

“But you’re right about one thing,” she added, tone easing back into something more practical—though the warmth never fully left it. “If they see us as insignificant, we use that. Keep our heads down, play the part, let them underestimate us.”

Her gaze flicked back to him one last time, something quieter beneath it now. “Just try not to give them a reason to look twice, hm?”

Shoan shook his head. "Dead men can't pay off debts," he replied. "And I owe Elaar and so many other criminal syndicates a lot of money." If there was one vice that took hold over Shoan, it was gambling. Brinna tried to help him by sending Shoan to rehabilitation facilities that specialize in gambling, but Shoan would always go back and drown himself into more debt. Shoan was addicted to the thrill of winning big, his brain was wired to the flashing lights and the large numbers that arise whenever he wins. His brain was enslaved by the dopamine though a part of Shoan begged himself to stop.

"I just can't believe that we're doing a job where it's in the fracking capital of the Sith," Shoan said taking a deep breath. "Not even the top crime syndicates would think twice crossing the Sith. You know how they are, they won't stop chasing you until you're dead..... and then some."

Just then, a small Aleena walked from the back waddling towards Shoan and Brinna. "So here are the guests of honor!" Elaar Teevo chuckled. "I trust that you two are ready for the heist of your lives!"

"It's easy to say that Elaar," Shoan said. "When we're the ones taking the risk."

"You don't know how much it cost to get you and your girlfriend to the Sith Palace bud!" Elaar said. "Now come on! We got a lot to talk about!"

Brinna’s eyes closed for just a second as Shoan finished talking. Not dramatic—just a slow, measured blink, like she was deciding whether to be annoyed… or how much to be annoyed.

“Of course you do,” she muttered under her breath, exhaling softly through her nose. “Why wouldn’t you owe half the underworld? Wouldn’t be you otherwise.”

Her gaze slid sideways to him, not sharp enough to cut—but not soft enough to ignore, either. “And here I thought we were just doing this for the thrill,” she added dryly. “Good to know it’s actually for a mountain of debts and questionable life choices.” There was no real bite behind it. Just… exhaustion dressed up as sarcasm.
Her attention shifted as he mentioned the Sith again, and this time she didn’t bother hiding the faint grimace.

“Oh yes, wonderful,” Brinna murmured. “A job in the heart of Sith territory, where they’re famously patient, forgiving, and absolutely known for letting trespassers walk away.”

She glanced back at him, one brow lifting. “Remind me again why we didn’t pick something safer. Like robbing a Hutt.” Still—despite the words, there was something steadier underneath. She wasn’t panicking. She wasn’t backing out. Just… calibrating.

“We’ll be fine,” she said after a beat, quieter now, almost like she was convincing herself as much as him. “If we’re careful, if we don’t draw attention—Sith don’t waste time on ghosts.”

Her gaze flicked toward the approaching figure before Shoan could answer. And immediately, Brinna’s expression shifted. Not warmer. Not friendlier. Just… polished. She looked Elaar up and down once—quick, assessing, unimpressed.

“Guests of honor?” she echoed lightly, a faint smile tugging at her lips. “Well, that explains the warm welcome.”

At his comment about the cost, her smile sharpened just a touch. “Oh, I don’t doubt it,” Brinna said smoothly. “I imagine we’re very expensive.” A beat. Then the smile didn’t quite fade—but it stopped being friendly. “So let’s make sure we’re worth the investment, hm?”

She stepped forward then, closing the conversational distance without hesitation, her tone shifting—still calm, still controlled—but now unmistakably firm. “I want specifics,” she said, eyes locked on Elaar. “Entry points. Security rotations. Identification protocols. What we’re walking into, not the version that sounds good in a pitch.”

A slight tilt of her head. “And more importantly—what goes wrong when this inevitably stops being smooth.”

Her arms folded loosely, posture relaxed but unyielding. “Because if we’re the ones risking our lives in a Sith stronghold,” Brinna continued, voice even, “I’d prefer not to discover the details at the same time they start shooting at us.”

A brief glance flicked back to Shoan—pointed, but subtle. Then back to Elaar. “So,” she finished, “talk.”

Elaar leapt onto the table a chuckle escaping his cracked lips. "Take a look at this chick," he said with a smile. "Not even five seconds in meeting each other and she's demanding the world. I hope you enjoyed that coffee sweetheart. It's on the house."

"Do you realize where you're placing us?" Shoan asked. "You're putting us in the heart of the Sith Covenant's territory! The Imperial Palace is where all the Sith and elite troopers converge. It's like throwing us in the lava lakes of Mustafar and expect us to swim without problems!"

"And you all will be fine!" Elaar said his tone was laced with a smarmy know it all voice which made Shoan want to strangle him. "I've arranged the perfect disguises and the perfect routes that you can use to get to the blue crystal! It'll be fool proof and won't fail!"

"That's the thing about heists," Shoan responded. "There's always going to be a snag and we need a plan B whenever that snag comes along."

"Don't worry about it," Elaar chortled. "The palace may be intimidating but think of it as the former headquarters of them Jedi Knights before they go ousted by the Imperials."

"Who then was ousted by the Sith," Shoan said. "Who are way worse. So what do we do?"

Elaar sighed and handed out two datapads towards Shoan and Brinna. "You'll be taking on disguises," he said. "Shoan you'll TK-421 and Brinna: You'll be an Imperial Officer: Jans Adorna. Don't ask how we got them it was through...... aggressive negotiations."

Brinna’s eyes narrowed the moment Elaar hopped onto the table. Not enough to escalate it. Not enough to make it obvious. But enough that Shoan—if he was paying attention—would know she was counting to something in her head that definitely wasn’t polite.

“Sweetheart,” she repeated under her breath, almost absently, like she was testing how close she was to snapping his wrist versus his ego. Instead, she exhaled slowly and let him talk himself out. Mostly.

Her gaze shifted to Shoan when he spoke, and for a brief moment, the irritation softened—not at Elaar, but at the sheer predictability of all of this. Shoan worried, Elaar promised, reality somewhere in between already sharpening its teeth. Still, information was information. And unfortunately… Elaar wasn’t wrong about everything.

The palace layout, the disguises, the routes—there was structure here. A framework. Sloppy in places, overconfident in others, but not nothing. Brinna’s expression tightened slightly as she absorbed it, mentally already pulling threads loose and reweaving them into contingencies Shoan hadn’t bothered to ask for.

Imperial officer. That part made her skin crawl more than she cared to admit. But she didn’t interrupt. Didn’t give Elaar the satisfaction. When the datapad finally slid her way, she took it with two fingers like it might be contaminated, eyes flicking over the designation.

Jans Adorna. Of course. Her mouth twitched faintly. “Well,” she said at last, tone light in a way that didn’t quite match her eyes, “I always suspected I had an Imperial officer somewhere in my future.”

Her gaze lifted to Shoan briefly. “Though I was hoping for something less… stiff.” A beat. Her expression sharpened just slightly as she looked back to Elaar. “Constrictive uniforms, aggressive negotiations, Sith palaces…” she mused. “You really do aim for the classics, don’t you?”

The sarcasm was smooth, controlled—more blade than outburst. She shifted her weight, tapping the datapad once against her palm. Then, business returned fully. “Routes are nice,” Brinna said evenly. “Disguises are useful. But let me guess—these ‘perfect’ routes assume nobody deviates, nobody inspects credentials twice, and nobody decides to have a bad day with a blaster.”

Her eyes flicked up again, calm but sharp now. “Because I’ve been in enough Imperial systems to know that ‘fool proof’ is just what people call things before they become very loud problems.”

A pause. Then she tilted her head slightly, the edge of her mouth curving. “And for the record,” she added, glancing down at the officer designation again, “if my cover uniform is as tight in the chest as I suspect it is, I’m expecting hazard pay.”

A beat of silence—just enough to let it land. Then she exhaled and straightened, the humor fading back into focus. “Before we go anywhere,” Brinna continued, tone shifting cleanly into execution mode, “tell me this—what’s the one thing in this plan that you’re not telling us because you think it’s ‘manageable’?”

Her gaze held Elaar steady. “And don’t say ‘nothing.’ I’m not in the mood to be surprised inside a Sith palace.”

"Just because the clothing isn't as revealing as yours sweetie," Elaar retorted. "Doesn't mean you can't wear it. The Sith are many things but they know how to create outfits that are comfortable for people of all sizes."

Shoan was already getting annoyed with Elaar calling Brinna terms like: "sweetie" and insulting her outfit one that Shoan bought and modified just for Brinna. "Buddy," Shoan growled his teeth baring. "I may be deep in debt with the Hutts breathing down my neck but If you insult my girlfriend one more time, your teeth will splattered all over the floor."

Brinna was the fighter but that didn't mean Shoan would stand up for her. He wasn't much of a fighter but he was close to beating the chit out of Elaar. "Hey calm down!" Elaar said hastily. "Let's tone down the temperature! I know you kids and the young love you possess! It's cute! But right now this Blue Crystal is what my client needs! You see it's not an ordinary crystal but inside of it contains a Holocronl."

"Holocron?" Shoan raised an eyebrow.

"Yeah!" Elaar said. "My client would love a thing like that! Them Jedi store all their knowledge in them Holocrons! Think of them as a glorified recorder but they used their space magic. I don't know what it can contain but the Jedi who did it encased the Holocron inside of a crystal. Get it and consider your debt repaid."

"Fine," Shoan said. "We'll do it."

Brinna didn’t rise to the bait. Not immediately, anyway. Instead, her lips curved into something almost pleasant as she looked at Elaar, head tilting just slightly.

“Well,” she said lightly, “thank you for noticing me.” The tone was sweet. The eyes were not. She let the comment about her outfit roll off her shoulders like it hadn’t landed at all—like it wasn’t even worth the energy. Whatever Elaar thought, whatever he said… it didn’t stick unless she allowed it to. But she did manage shake a little to accentuate her “revealing” clothing.

Shoan, on the other hand—That earned a soft, surprised laugh from her. Not mocking. Not dismissive. Just… amused. Her gaze slid to him as he bristled, something warmer flickering there. “Oh, careful,” she murmured under her breath, just for him. “You keep that up, I might start thinking you’re the dangerous one.”

And then, almost as if it were the most natural thing in the world, she scooted closer—shoulder brushing his, her arm slipping lightly around his for a brief second. Not clinging. Not dependent. Just… there. A quiet show of alignment. If she’d actually been offended, Elaar would’ve been on the floor already. But this? This was manageable.

Her attention shifted back as Elaar scrambled to redirect, and the mention of the holocron barely registered on her face. No widened eyes. No sharp inhale. Just a slow blink, like he’d said something mildly interesting instead of potentially very valuable—and very dangerous.

“A crystal with secrets inside it,” Brinna mused softly. “How poetic.” Her fingers tapped idly against her arm again, though her gaze sharpened just a fraction. A holocron changed things. Not the job—but the why behind it.

And the kind of people who would want it. Shoan’s agreement pulled her back fully, and this time her glance toward him lingered just a second longer. Of course he said yes. Of course he did.

A quiet exhale slipped through her nose, somewhere between acceptance and inevitability. Then she straightened slightly, composure settling back into place as she looked to Elaar. “Alright,” Brinna said, tone smooth, businesslike again. “We’re in.”

A small pause. Then, with a faint tilt of her head—“What’s next?”
