STANDARD FEATURES
- Fast Tracking Mounts: All weapons aboard the Blitz are fast tracked, allowing for its weapons to keep up and often follow enemy fighters in an attempt to rob them of their defensive manoeuvrability.
- Flares: The Blitz-Class uses flares as a form of defence in order to deflect the attention of missile guided ordinance.
ADVANCED SYSTEMS
- Homing Missiles [X]: While shown by the Confederacy of Independent Systems to not be a totally effective combat system, or even counter to fighters, homing missiles help act as a deterrent. Even if it diverts a fighter squadron a few minutes.
- Pack SynergyNet: The Blitz is fitted with the Pack SynergyNet. A computer system which shares sensor and targeting data, allowing for a pack of Bltiz-Class to effectively work together to compensate against enemy vessels as well as keep fighting.
STRENGTHS:
- Dogfighters Bane: Fast tracked mounts upon the Blitz’s weapons emplacements allow for the vessel to accurately target, and harass enemy fighters. Perhaps not till destruction, but enough to see them off. Another favourite target is heavier fighter, and bomber craft, with its turbolasers.
- Punches Below: Despite being a corvette, the weapons systems of the Blitz are meant to punch below it’s weight, rather than to punch above. Despite being a larger craft, its weapons are designed to pierce and destroy small snubnosed fighters.
- Bigger Boys: While relying on its weaker weapons, the Blitz is vulnerable to the attacks of anti-corvette frigates and cruisers.
DESCRIPTION:
The Blitz-Class Corvette is a new model of vessel designated to fight enemy fighters. While the First Order has already achieved great fighter defence in the Sabre-Class Frigate, there was also a push to add and innovate. A wish to add defensively to the First Order’s fleet compliment comes from the corvette commanders themselves. With the deactivation of the Bolt-Class picket vessels, a replacement soon became necessary to ensure the corvette tactics used to tear apart larger vessels, did not become the target of bomber formations.
Ergo the innovation of the Bltiz-Class. With a slim profile, and excellent speed, the Blitz provides a small target for larger vessels, as well as being able to keep up with more agile First Order corvettes and provide complimentary fighter screening for destroyers. The Bltiz-class’ weapons systems are designed to engage fighters primarily, with the vessel employing tracking missile technologies. This is accompanied by fast tracked weaponry designed to keep up with high speed fighter and bomber formations, as well as rogue starfighters.
The continued tracking of hostile vessels is something which appealed to Central Command’s military planners, and in order to increase efficiency, the Pack SynergyNet was installed. A strategic computer, the Pack SynergyNet, allows for targeting data, sensor readings to be shared with other vessels with the same devices. This allows packs of Blitz corvettes to work more effectively together against enemies and provide tighter screening.
