The Blind Leading the Blind...

The introduction done and further questions from Kay addressed to Rys'sya, Jairdain was silent. In a way it was a position she become familiar with as Brad's advisor and support for him. When the timing was right, she would speak up and give advice or whatever was needed.

Even if she was not further addressed in this conversation, she would be the anchor for the other woman to cling to if there was the need.

True to what Jairdain knew of Kay, an opportunity would be granted and a new future could be had for Rys'sya with Commenor.

Hope dared to flutter within her breast as [member="Lady Kay"] said that all were welcome.... but then, a hollow feeling settled once again in the pit of her stomach. Skills? she thought, All I have is my training....

"I.... am afraid I have little to offer outside of the Force, your majesty.... I do learn quickly, however.... and though it is linked to the Force, I am far more attentive than most given my species compensation for lack of physical sight...." her fingers found each other once again, a fit of nerves threatening to over-take the woman once again. "All.... all I'm looking for is a chance...."

Kay looked from one to the other. This was a bit bizarre. But it wasn't as though [member="Jairdain"] would just bring her anyone from the street. No, there was a method to her madness, so to speak. A reason for bringing [member="Rys'sya"] to her. She just wasn't sure of what that is yet.

Rys just seemed so nervous, as though she was expecting to be tossed out at any moment. Yet Kay wasn't about to do that. It just wasn't her way. She'd taken in misfits and others before. Some people stayed while others used their experiences here as a stepping stone.

"Alright. You're more than welcome to stay. I'm just curious about you in order to figure out what job I could give you that would utilize your talents the most. What is it that you like to do?"

A nervous, almost bitter, laugh escaped the woman before she could catch it. Clearing her throat, the former acolyte looked to [member="Lady Kay"]. "That's the problem, I guess.... I was all but raised a slave to the Sith. I had no rights. No freedoms. No opportunity for interests, outside of survival...."

She heaved a defeated sight, before opening her arms to her side slightly, palms splayed open towards the Queen. "I don't know what I'd like to do.... all I know is what I can do..." she slowly lowered herself to her knees, head lowered in supplication. "I can serve. It is the only role I've ever known. But I'd rather serve one such as yourself, than the Sith Lords that were my Masters in the past...."

She held her submissive stance until commanded otherwise. She had no other choice. Her options were to serve here, to starve out on the street, or to resort to manipulations to survive.... and both of the latter options repulsed the young woman.

A slave? Well it was no wonder that [member="Rys'sya"] took interest in some of Kay's exploits when she was younger. But it was hard to believe that such stories would reach the Sith. She was no superhero or powerful figure. Outside of CSA space she was a nobody.

She blinked as Rys knelt down on the floor, and not in the manner of one gaining a Knighthood. No, the young woman was being subservient. Kay got to her feet and rounded her desk, approaching her quietly and crouching before her. "You don't need to kneel here. No one does. I may be the Queen, but I work for all of my people to ensure their safety and that their lives flourish. So come on now, on your feet please."

She stood up first and waited for Rys to do the same. "My assistant Olivia is shifting her duties somewhat. She wishes to manage the staff within the Palace more than handling my daily affairs. You said that you were very attentive. Perhaps you could learn from her and attend meetings with me. Maybe you could get a better sense of people's intentions than I could."

When she had learned of the desire Rys'sya had to come here, Jairdain knew Lady Kay would find a proper position and give her hope. More than hope, she gave a purpose. Something beyond being that of a simple servant of the Palace, but of helping hand to Kay herself.

She felt good about this outcome, but was shocked when the other woman got on the floor and practically groveled there. Kay reacted like Jairdain expected her to and went to help Rys'say to her feet. Not by holding a hand out to help her, but by making herself an equal for a few moments and squatting down with her.

Seeing through the Force in a similar way, Jairdain knew she would be of a great help to Kay in the knowing of what people intended. It was quite the same as she did for Brad.

The young woman felt the Queen approach, her own breath stilling as she stood before the knelt Miraluka. Then, she knelt with her, helping the younger woman up to her feet. Rys'sya was bewildered, the Queen telling her that she needed not bend her knee. A monarch who didn't demand fealty? This woman was.... This Queen... was something else. But when she offered the Miraluka a chance. The one thing the young woman had been yearning for. The young woman had incredible difficulty keeping that smile from blossoming across her face, as she faced the Queen.

"You.... you mean.... I.... can stay? I can...." She faltered momentarily, seeking a better word, to not offend the Queen's sensibilities, but ultimately failed, "I can serve... you?" Fingers quickly became entwined, a nervous trait the young Miraluka silently scolded herself for, before her hands broke away from one another to close into tight little fists at her hips, to keep them from distracting herself, or worse, drawing attention of the Queen to her heightened state of nerves. She even felt a slight tremor threatening her knees, as she held her sightless gaze upon the Queen. This was all almost too much.

Well at least [member="Rys'sya"] got to her feet. Kay found it a little strange to be looking to someone and trying to console them while their eyes were covered. But perhaps that'll just take some getting used to.

She laughed a little, but not really at her expense. "Yes, of course you can stay. And you'll have your own bedchambers here too." It wasn't as though she was going to tell the young woman to find a place to stay somewhere in Chasin City. That'd be cruel.

Kay glanced to [member="Jairdain"] before looking again to Rys. "You can work for me, yes. And get paid. We have a great benefits package, too." There were many questions on her mind about Rys' past, but there would be time to ask them later.

"Shall we go to pick out a room for you?"

Having a smile on her face and bit of an assurance boost for Rys'sya, Jairdain could tell she would happy here. Her own arrival here might have different than the former sith's, she knew she had found a home, employment and acceptance above all else.

Her own room here had been empty when she went away with Brad for his training and she had yet to move back in. If one couldn't be found for her, Jairdain would offer it to her. Being blind herself, the set up was simple and easy to get around in.

"Lady Kay, if you wished it, she could have mine."

[member="Lady Kay"] [member="Rys'sya"]

The young woman could hardly believe her ears, but she still, through sheer force of will alone, managed to keep her exuberance limited to a radiant smile. "I-my own room?" she did so like the sound of that. Then the Queen confirmed Rys'sya would be working for her, and even mentioned pay and benefits. "I... I wouldn't even know what to do with money of my own...." she thought that was inner-monologue, though she'd stammer off into awkward silence when she realized that she had actually said that out loud.

But then [member="Jairdain"] came in with a perfectly timed distraction. "But... but I couldn't take your room from you.... You've already done so much for me!" the Miraluka protested. But, she'd fall silent afterwards, knowing the decision really wasn't hers to make at this point.

Kay looked to [member="Jairdain"] as she offered for [member="Rys'sya"] to use her room. But she shook her head. "Oh there's no need for that. Since both you and Brad have returned to Commenor, you'll be making use of it, I'm sure. And besides, there's plenty of empty rooms here." The Palace was very large, holding nearly a hundred rooms on various levels, more than half of which were bedchambers and offices.

She looked to Rys, noting her expressions and the way that she tended to stammer. Her confidence was quite low, and given what little she knew of her past, she could understand why. "There's a bedchamber close to here for you to use. I'm sure that you wouldn't want to be far away from anyone, especially on your first night. Are you hungry or thirsty? We can get that taken care of as well. In fact, I could give you a tour. Or we could save that part for tomorrow. You'll have to familiarize yourself with the grounds. Do you have any luggage?" Kay wasn't sure if the young lady had her own wardrobe, or if she only had what she carried on her back.

After she had been banished by her people, Jairdain had to quickly learn about credits and how to use them. Growing up her parents had only just started to really guide her in economics, the rest she had to learn on her own. Luckily she had fallen in with some traders that were honest and they helped her the rest of the way.

"Perhaps I can help guide you with that. If you feel the need."

Both Kay and Rys'sya said she didn't need to give up her room, but she wasn't going to be returning to her old room here. Her eyes took on a little bit of a glitter of happiness before she spoke again.

"Lady Kay, with our return I haven't exactly been staying in my old room here. Our time away from Commenor did not only make changes within ourselves, but it brought Brad and I together."

It was all she said on the matter and hopefully the issue wouldn't be pressed at this time. Luckily Kay moved on in saying there were other rooms Rys'sya could stay in that were closer to Kay and offered to give a tour. Smiling, Jairdain was happy to have helped another person find a place here.

The Miraluka gave a slight nod, a gentle smile offered with it. "I have little to my name, your majesty." before turning towards [member="Jairdain"], "And I would be most appreciative of any help you can give me." Looking back to the queen, the young woman pursed her lips. "I think, as much as I'd love a tour of the grounds, I'm close to suffering from sensory over-load I'm afraid..." A weak smile is offered in apology, before offering an apologetic bow.

Then the other woman made mention of not staying in her own bed-chambers for sleeping. Rys'sya inclined her head slightly, faint perplexity upon her face, as she was unsure why someone would sleep in a place other than their own, when such a place was made readily available to them. The innocence of one formerly Sith was fairly astounding, being fairly oblivious of the actual implications of what Jairdain was hinting at. A slight shrug would be given, wishing not to pry into her friend's mind to learn what she meant, before turning back to face [member="Lady Kay"]. Perhaps the best thing for now was an opportunity to get settled in and rest. This young woman's life was about to become quite frenzied for the near future.

Kay looked to [member="Jairdain"] as she spoke of her budding relationship with Brad. Her son was a playboy, having slept his way from one part of the Galaxy to another. It didn't surprise her to find out that he had grown close to Jairdain as well. But was it real this time? Brad had changed it seemed, yet just by how much, she wasn't sure. But from what she knew of Jairdain, having the two of them together wasn't a bad thing. Kay herself had married her own advisor, Veiere.

Although that hadn't turned out so well at the moment...

She turned to [member="Rys'sya"] as she spoke of being overloaded with everything. Most that she had offered a tour to had taken it up right away. But Kay completely understood why Rys would want to rest. It was her upbringing that left her easy to be overwhelmed; something that would take some time for her to grow from. "That's quite alright. I'll just show you to your room and have some food and drink brought for you when you're ready." She gave her a polite smile and then held out her arm for Rys to take. "Shall we?"
