Strengths:
  • The Many -
With most standard species, a single heart will do them fine for most of their life, at the cost that they have a mild weak spot both biologically and martially. Some species even surpassed this like the Zabrak, adding a second heart to ensure maximum blood flow and content. Should one fail, most would even be able to last a few days before getting the needed help. The Ri Nyâsh takes this 'multi-heart' setup to the extreme by miniaturizing the hearts to a fourth the size of a conventional heart, and adding in redundancies. In the same way the other species utilize this, if one heart fails, another will simply pick up the pace.

This allows a heart to be impaled and the body still function; albeit bleeding. In addition, the use of many hearts helps prevent heart attacks and otherwise deadly plaque buildup in the lines themselves, effectively making things like heart disease a relative insignificant condition. Despite this, should more than six of the hearts be damaged, the body will begin to fall into cardiac arrest, as at least two hearts must be unharmed to continue blood flow through the body.

[*]Logan -
  • With Firrerreo DNA utilized within the cardiovascular system, each heart is capable of slow regeneration. This can take anywhere from a few minutes, to a few days depending on the extent of the damage, and can pass over to both the arteries and wounds on the body itself. This is not a cure all, as any damaged outside the cardiovascular system itself will simply cease bleeding quickly rather than heal outright. The healing process itself also takes substantial amounts of energy, meaning that calories are serious necessity should the user be facing combat regularly.

To combat this high nutrient needs, each vein is reinforced through biochemically synthesized 'kevlar' that makes them far harder to cut open or otherwise breech. This allows most to go a long time without a very serious wound, however this does mean that injections and other internal medicines are extremely difficult to administer.

[*]High Traffic -
  • The last great strength of the cardiovascular system is the fact that it allows an extremely high amount of oxygen and nutrients to pass through the body on command. Improved growth, circulation, and oxygen to be delivered to the individual muscles creates a feeling of energy almost at all times; though this can cause issues with long term survivability without regular sources of food. In high stress combat situations, or even daily life, this does however allow a healthier chance at living among other things.

In addition, reinforced white blood cells are present through the entire micro-structure of the blood; meaning that most foreign bodies are taken care of very quickly. This includes cancer cells, toxins, germs, and more. A immune system enhancement that can keep one from getting sick for most of their life, with limitations of course.

Weaknesses:
  • Clear! -
The numerous hearts involved in the Ri Nyâsh have their benefits, but they come at a cost. This cost is that should they cease to work, or simply fall out of rhythm with one another, the person could very easily go into cardiac arrest. Standard 'shock' procedures to jump start the regular process don't work since multiple hearts all around the rib area are present, meaning more secluded miniature shocks are the only solution. Yet, even with this 'only solution' it simply isn't that easy to synchronize the many hearts with one jump. Full sized hospitals and a trained medical staff knowledgeable in the way of the Ri Nyâsh would be required to get all eight hearts working at once and save someones life.

[*]What's up, Doc? -
  • The complexities of the multi-heart system don't end there. Without Jaeger trained doctors and medical equipment designed for the cardiovascular system, it is almost impossible to actively work on or otherwise commit the user to surgery. Blood would require nearly deadly amounts of anti-coagulants, and the surgeons would find that every vein in the body, including the hearts, would fight their scalpels and knives. The system was built to keep things out, regardless of intent, and doing that is all it does.

This also goes to syringes and internal medicines administered through the blood. Most medicines would simply be considered foreign bodies by the blood, and would be neutralized before they had a chance to work whatever magic they held. This includes things that would otherwise save the users life, should it ever be required, being outmatched by only the most hardy of medicines and diseases.

[*]Nutrients Needed -
  • With the massive amount of oxygen and nutrients sent out by each individual pulse, the body must have a very serious source of incoming food and calories; especially if subjected to healing the system multiple times in a week. Each act can drain a person substantially, leave alone their regular meals and needs. This makes the device out of place for most that are unable to handle the grueling dietary requirements of the redundant system. This by itself would effectively make it unpractical for the common man, long term expeditions, or other situations that would involve 'rationing' of supplies.

DESCRIPTION

In the same pattern as many other Jaeger genetics divisions, another product has been not only drawn up, but began to be put into the beginning phases of testing on a number of slaves and less desireables in the galaxy. Falling into the 'off the books' category, Jaeger has deemed this project to be known simply as 'The Blackwell Project' until further notice, led by none other than The Slave himself; a super soldier program designed to outpace all those that came before it and set a new standard for genetic augmentation in the galaxy.

The Ri Nyâsh Cardiovascular System is the next step in their journey, as what would a soldier be without a heart? In this case, many as it would soon play out. With eight hearts, high traffic active transport systems and more, there is very little that the updated system can't handle, though where its greatest strengths come into play so too is its greatest weaknesses. Standard medical fair simply won't work on anyone with this system, and very specialized systems and doctors aware of its condition must be used. These systems have not been made yet, as there has been no need to create them at this time; though it is supposedly on the agenda for the masterminds behind Jaeger's Genetics department.

All in all, the organ system serves as a baseline for physical activity management and otherwise protecting the internal systems of the cardiovascular network. In true Jaeger style, they managed to militarize even the heart when it came down to it, something most probably wish they avoided.
