Name: The Black Citadel

Intent: Provide Sarge and his troops a base of operations.

Classification: Special Operations Base

Location: 6th moon of Mzeh, based on Titan

Affiliation: Omega Protectorate

Population: 1500. 500 soldiers. 1000 support personnel (all combat trained to at least military standard.) Population growing slowly but steadily. Base capable of holding a maximum of 3500. 500 maintenance droids see to day to day tasks.

Defenses: Base defenses are mostly automated in the form of combat droid (HBD-300 series) as well as blaster and slugthrower autoturrets. The true defenses, however, are outside. Bunkers line the mountain slope, filled with laser cannons. A shield generator protects it from orbital bombardment. 30 turbolasers ring the outside, providing more than enough stopping power to deter all but the most determined of attackers. All turbolasers are standard rather than planetary, due to the dense atmosphere restricting orbital scans both from the surface and from orbit. It's near impossible to hit anything through it, working both ways. M47 dropships provide transportation. Quad cannons ring the battlements to scare off any ships that decide strafing runs are a good idea.

Otherwise, defenses are the base staff and whatever is in the Fondor system (only called in an absolute emergency.)

Points of Interest: The first thing people see approaching the base is the massive batteries and emplacements ringing the perimeter. Set into the base of a mountain, the first indication past the weapons that there's a base there is a massive basalt covered durasteel gateway. Fashioned in the style of a great gate, it is emblazoned with the image of a seven headed hydra, sword lanced through its body.

Inside there are your usual base fare - barracks, firing ranges, armories, communications and security rooms, etc.

But other than that, there are several key locations.

The Tombs; In the darkest, coldest part of the fortress lay the catacombs where the bodies of the fallen are interred. Any honors they earned in their life as inscribed in the stone and their names will be added to an honor roll for those who gave their lives to keep the Protectorate free of the taint of the Sith.

The Forges; The fortress makes its own ammo and armor. Metal is retrieved from elsewhere on the moon or shipped in on automated supply drops. This allows the fortress to remain as autonomous as possible to keep as much secrecy as they can. These forges are incapable of producing vehicles, merely weapons, ammo and armor - replacement parts for vehicles are possible, however.

The Comm Tower; Due to the thick atmosphere, a signal booster was required to reach the rest of the planets in system. It's secreted away at the top of the tallest point of the fortress, allowing contact with Fondor and the Protectorate at large. Without it, the base is incapable of reaching anyone. Automated reports are sent to Ayden at regular intervals. Should one not be sent, forces are mobilized.

Reactors/Shield Generator; Multiple reactors are kept in the base to power the defenses and a shield that protects the base from bombardment and, to a much lesser extent, the violent weather. This also powers the atmospheric processor that allows them to even live on the moon to begin with.

Hydroponics Garden; Food is grown on the moon in the hydroponics garden, allowing them to sustain themselves through a siege, at least for a little while. This is bolstered by massive water tanks and recycling machines so that any and all waste is able to be reused in some manner. Tanks hold enough water for several months, but water is filtered from the local environment as well.

Library; In order to train the many jobs being conducted at this base, an extensive and encompassing library was established to allow for the study of relevant fields such as engineering, carpentry, smithing, horticulture, etc. There are no holocrons or books on Force use as Sarge is the only Force-Using member. All others, even if Force sensitive, are given no training on the matter and are instead trained in martial studies and conditioned to resist corruption through mental fortitude and faith - in the Protectorate and the Martyred Lady.

Security Room; The exterior defenses are controlled from a room deep within the mountain, monitored via camera feed and readouts. These also control interior defenses and are capable of sealing bulkheads as well as self destructing the reactor. Self destruct requires a code known only to Sarge and a scant handful of others, although no one has the entire code other than him.

Detention Cells; There are two kinds. Interior and exterior. The interior are your typical prison cells mixed with stasis fields, located just before the tombs and with no access to any escape routes save back up through the base. There are two access points - the main one is an elevator and requires a code and retinal scan to get through. The latter is a secret entrance known only to the soldiers in the event a prisoner tries to escape or manages to get the elevator shut down.

The exterior cells are a bit more sinister. Cables are fed under the frozen surface of the ocean at the base of the mountain and taken out towards large glass boxes on the ice. These cables provide not only air for the prisoner, but also allow them to run pneumatic tubes out. This is how they're fed. There is enough room for the prisoner to lie down, but they're essentially sleeping on glass. These cells are for solitary confinement. In the event of attack, however, charges are rigged around the base of the cell to blow open the ice and sink the prisoners in order to prevent their escape and/or survival. Cells weighted on the underside.

Description: Set into the base of a mountain that rises above frozen methane seas, the Black Citadel receives its name from the basalt rock used in its construction. A durable volcanic rock, it was mostly chosen for its insulation capabilities considering the frighteningly low temperatures of the moons surface. Said moon was chosen for this exact reason, as it makes fighting on it a near impossibility without environment suits, and even then its a dubious prospect at best.

Much of the base, however, is carved into the side of the mountain and then down into its depths, extending several kilometers in total to allow for chokepoints and space for the reactors and generator, as well as the massive amount of comm equipment required to keep it running. Much of the space is simply there to be filled with a means of making the place livable rather than any sort of actual humanoids.

The exterior is also given over to landing pads, bunkers, turbolasers and quad cannons for anti-air work. The base itself is known only to Cater outside of those who live and work there, security codes are still changed daily, however, and everyone coming in and out is always thoroughly screened even if they only stepped outside to patrol the battlements. These procedures are to prevent infiltration.

The base is essentially the hub for anti-Sith operations in Protectorate space. Sith presences are, as a whole, denied by the Protectorate and these aren't exactly lies. Most of the 'Sith' are simply people hoping for power they'll never attain, as they're not capable of using the Force. These threats are still taken seriously, however, and are the reason this base exists.

History: Little to none. Just finished.

Very nicely done. You’ve put a lot of work into this, and it shows.

However, I will ask for a short (10-20 post) dev thread about the setup, construction and so on of this installation.

Add a little bit in for history – move the reasoning and design choices to here.

Do that and I’ll stamp this.
