The Bear Necessities

Midvinter, it was a world that Veiere had only heard about through the tellings of one [member="Théodred Heavenshield"], his only real connection to the intended destination or atleast would be until he managed to locate a prospective new entry into the Jedi Order, one of Calder Icehammer's wishes for the young pup that he had not been able to fulfill before his untimely demise. [member="Tor Icehammer"], named after that of the great beorni who had looked after the young pup resided somewhere down upon that frozen world. The Kidem Class Jedi Patrol Frigate for which they traversed the Galaxy in order to reach this homeworld of Calder's would soon exit out of hyperspace and he along with the company of [member="Nanna"] would soon begin their new adventure.

Seated not upon a chair but upon the floor of the frigate, legs crossed and his elbows pressed in against his thighs, he watched Nanna curiously, the younger Beorni not a member that he'd had a great deal of experience with and now with the passing of Calder, she almost seemed to be more isolated than the others, a number of concerns coming to mind as he wondered how this was all affecting her; shouldering still the guilt of not being able to have prevented Calder's death, it was a loss that had remained like all others and yet unlike the others, Veiere had been there and gone so far as to halt Calder's pre-emptive strike. While he hadn't spoken to the others about what happened down on Commenor, Veiere felt responsible and that blame that he held over himself had admittedly helped to sway his decision to handle not only Tor's training but so too Nanna's personally.

"Nanna, did Calder ever tell you anything about this Tor we're looking for?" He queried in open wonder; Calder had not been the easiest figure within the Order to read though Veiere had immediately liked the great bear of a beorni. He was a source of warmth of character despite his intimidating size and strength, burdened by past losses and the actions of the Sith to have shaped his attitude and sadly always enabled him to leap first to the attack which had got him killed in the end.

Midvinter was always a peaceful planet. Even with the Netherworld happened, even when the Sith attacked, peace always returned. The Beorni island off the coast was a place that held true to this mindset. The large bear people were always peaceful, always smiling, always happy. There was never anything that disrupted this peaceful existence. Well, everything except for the black, brown, and white blur running through the streets.

Tor giggled as he bounded down the side road, jumping over food stands and darting around the Beorni. He was fast, agile. The Spirits blessing as it was known to the locals, and more or less why they put up with his antics. He tripped mid bound as he rounded a corner, tumbling into a stand with a yelp of surprise. Cloth covered his body as he shifted from the pup to a small Beorni, rubbing the back of his head.

"Hahaha, sorry Nidea." Nidea, the stands owner, simply shook her head as she looked down at Tor. "You know better, Tor. Take it slow."

@Nanna [member="Veiere Arenais"]

He was gone. Uncle was truly gone...

Nanna sat there in the frigate, her paws were laying in her lap as she stared down at the crystal pendant from the necklace she'd made for her uncle, running one of her paw pads over its many facets. A light cooling mist rose off the crystals surface, though it seemed that no matter how much mist rose off from the pendant, it kept its shape and never shrunk. The cold mist put out by the crystal soothed Nanna, whilst drawing her attention at the same time; it reminded her of Calder. Being isolated once more on a metal monster of a ship as they traveled meant that her connection to the spirits as limited, if not completely gone, and after everything else that had happened, focusing her energy into the crystal was pretty much the only thing keeping her from having a complete breakdown.

The young Beorni hadn't yet shown her sadness, short from isolating herself from everyone else and a noticeable lack of her more joyful side. She'd focused so much of herself on her uncles pendant throughout it all, just to keep herself from falling apart; she didn't want to cause anyone more trouble. Still attentive on the crystal, she hadn't even heard Master Veiere speak to her. It took her almost a minute or longer after he'd spoken before she realized that the question he'd posed had been for her to answer.

"Uh.." Nanna lifted her head slowly, her ears still drooped as they had been since her uncles passing. She glanced over to Master [member="Veiere Arenais"], her eyes betraying her sadness as she spoke up, and her grip on the crystal pendant tightened, "Well... U.. Uncle never had to.." she tried not to stutter as she spoke, picking through her words carefully, "He lived on the same island as Mother and I... I was just helping Mother a lot so I didn't really have a lot of time to play with the others." Nanna's gaze drifted back down to the pendant in her lap, hesitating for a few moments, "[member="Tor Icehammer"], from what I remember, is very rambunctious. He has a lot of energy and spends his time running around and playing with the other children. He can get into trouble sometimes, but everyone loves him, even if they're scolding him for something..." she chuckled dryly as she remembered back when her and Tor had been younger. Even though Nanna had been busy with helping her mother, almost everyone in the village saw it when Tor was getting into trouble.

[member="Nanna"] was a naturally easy member of their Order whom Veiere found himself concerned over; the youth of the Beorni and her general personae and attitude towards life shone through above others as a testament to innocence within any sentient creature. Veiere found himself watching her with sympathetic eyes, his brows lifting in the center as she spoke, offering a faint and appreciative smile to the little bears willingness to come along on this journey despite the recent loss of her Uncle? Veiere hadn't realized it, Calder had treated the little one more like a child, a daughter in the little experience that Veiere had had watching the two interact. Witnessing his final moments had been nothing short of devastating and he was glad that the little Burr had not been there to witness it.

"Gets into a bit of mischief does he?" Veiere spoke up, hoping to keep her distracted on more positive subjects that he might help the little one to open up to him a bit more; this trip with Nanna was equally as much about learning more about her and being able to close in the gap between the two of them as it was about finding this [member="Tor Icehammer"] and bringing him into the fold as Calder had asked of Veiere. "Might it be nice to have a friend to play with, perhaps?" He pressed his elbows into his knees, leaning forward, seated upon the ground and hoping to inspire something of a positive reaction in the little one as he watched over her. While it wasn't difficult to be concerned, it came from the compassion that Nanna seemed to inspire in those around her. The cute and warm appearance and general aura she held about herself, whether she realized this or not, seemed to encourage the better feelings in others and Veiere only hoped he could do for her what her presence in the Order had brought to the rest of them. She may not have felt like much in the given time she'd been there, yet others had certainly noticed.

"ETA. Five Mikes"
The voice announced from the vessels intercom that they were nearing their destination, the location that they'd been able to salvage in Calders personal datalogs though Nanna didn't need to know how they knew where they were going; the fact was they were almost there and in this, Veiere's expression changed some, his eyes lifting to the intercom and realizing that he once again had to assume the leading role of duty as a Jedi Master. It wasn't to say that he didn't believe in what he did but for the briefest of moments in talking to this little one, she had almost seemed to distract him from the more serious nature of their lives and brought him down to an almost childish level of wonder and calm.

"Seems we're almost there...-You ready to visit an old friend?".
