Description:
In order to reward apprentices for their dedication to the One Sith war on the light, most especially the acolytes who aided him in attacking the Galactic Alliance biodomes on Sullust, Sage Bane, sorcerer and alchemist crafted a limited edition of special scythes. The scythes were painstakingly crafted at the Temple of Pain on Fresia. The Sith-Alchemization utilized Sage’s very own technique that he developed to transmute the base metals into alloys that possessed an affinity for the dark side. The dark side bonded the weapon parts together along with a measure of Sage’s own blood to fully seal the powers contained within. The Nova crystal contained in the handle of the Baneful Scythe is purely there for decoration and holds no special energy.
The Baneful Scythe's strength lies in its ability to deflect lightsaber strikes as well as block and redirect blaster beams. Like a Sith sword, it also acts as a focus to give the user a slight amplification of dark side energy.
The weaknesses of the Baneful Scythe are many. The scythe requires great strength of body as well as in the Force to successfully wield the weapon, as well as two-hands free. Non-Force users will find it unwieldy and mostly ineffective. In addition, the weapon is not indestructible, and can be affected by Force powers such as telekinesis as well as heavy ranged weapons like missiles and grenades. Lastly, the Baneful Scythe is redolent with the dark side, so a stealthy character may find that it too-easily gives away his/her position.
In essence, the Baneful Scythe is a simple melee weapon with properties akin to a Sith sword or any other canon-alchemized blade.
The apprentices that receive the weapon are to use it at their own risk, and are encouraged to seek out special training for it. Sage takes no responsibility for the loss of a limb resulting from improper use of the weapon.
It can also harvest wheat in a really BAMF way.
