The town of Ozryn. . . . .
Alva looked at the name of the village that was listed in the documents in front of her. It was one of the few times she had a break from working for the Remnant as an Officer or the one in control of the Andreea Shipyards. She was spending it within the archive library of Crina's Royal Palace, her home as the second princess of the world. There had been so many things for her to do lately and they still kept piling up, but at the same time there was a lot of fighting for her to do as well. Fighting that was becoming extremely dangerous. She had participated in the Tournament of the Gods, and it was an experience she would not forget. It irked her that the Royal Guard's armor had been complete for her use during it, but she had it now so she was stronger there. Time needed to be set aside so that she could return to the Cosmina Academy as well. If she wanted to stand a better chance in the future she needed to expand her prowess as a Practitioner until she was a master. She had defeated two Sith knights on just her martial prowess and the level of her equipment alone. She had increased the level of her equipment, but she needed more. . . . .
So here she was, delving through ancient records some centuries old. Information on Crina and Nicoleta and the rebel leader's infamous apprentice and short lived second in command, this was what was laid out before her. All the data that the Royal Family had on them. The Cosmina Academy had some files as well back from their Academy days, for Nicoleta and her apprentice at least. However, what Alva sought was their personal research. The most powerful Practitioners in Crina's history, outside the First Practitioner and his famed master never cited except in legend. There was no information on those two though, so Alva restricted her search to just the other three. Crina was a true master, a woman and Queen and hero their world was named for even. However, there was not much the woman had kept hidden. Much of Crina's research and abilities she developed had been taken directly into the Cosmina Academy's database, they were open for everyone to study and made up part of the curriculum. Very little was hidden, Alva suspected that though that Crina did have some forbidden teachings, but had had them destroyed or hidden by the Cosmina Academy Masters at the time of her death.
Nicoleta on the other hand was perhaps the most mysterious. There were reports of various different abilities and a few of those did not match what the Academy taught or what was mentioned in historic texts either. However, the mysteries of Nicoleta would be hard to find. Her hometown had been burned down during the civil war, though it had since been rebuilt. The woman had also disappeared, none knew how she died or where or when she had or where she was buried, no one had a clue as to what happened to the famous resistance movement founder and respected Practitioner. The best estimates one had to go by for information on Nicoleta would have been Rebel Hideouts in the period of her leadership, but those were always cleared out and always moving even up until the end. Truly only Rodica in its entirety left any clues as to what Nicoleta may have hidden away or left behind. Ruins were rumored to have existed there, perhaps she visited them. Perhaps that would be worth a trip, Nicoleta had the famed blade of the First Practitioner all Crinan Energy Blades were based on, finding that in itself would boost her abilities, but at the same time it would be a longer journey.
So the simplest and easiest solution lay in Nicoleta's apprentice. A woman who was hated to the point her very name was stricken by demand of Nicoleta's followers and Cosmina's Practitioners. Someone who had betrayed Nicoleta when the rebel founder took her famed venture to Rodica and established a colony there, who had stolen a famed relic of the Practitioner community, of their world, and was revealed for the corrupt individual she was. However, she was the most well known. It was this failed apprentice's capture that had led to the creation of the Crinan Energy Blades existence, and it was in many records and historical documents that she used dark powers in the battles during the civil war she participated in. Powers one normally wouldn't learn on Crina, at least not with experimentation and research, and it was clear the woman had never left their world.
Alva did her best, there were some hints of the interrogations back from when the girl had been taken in, but they lacked much insight on her abilities. Most questions had been about Rebel Troop movements, base locations, inquiries directed towards the weapon the woman had wielded at the time, what Nicoleta was doing, how the rebel leader pulled off so many miracles, but nothing about her own abilities either despite battlefield accounts mentioning they were impressive and forbidden according to Practitioners of the time. However, there was one bit of information Alva had to go off of. The town of Ozryn. Nicoleta's apprentice was an enemy to all after her betrayal came to light. The Rebels, Royal Army, and Cosmina's Practitioners all hunted for her. So why had she been in the town of Ozryn when she was captured?
It was neither her hometown or a known rebel base. In addition, captured rebel documents indicated Nicoleta's apprentice would steal away somewhere unknown sometimes in that general area, part of the clues that had enabled the Royal Army to lead them to her. So what had she been doing there? There were other towns as well, but the woman had been caught after apparently returning to the town from a countryside trip. The village had been abandoned shortly after, already becoming desolate as the war ran down the once mercantile town's business down. The stigma of harboring the failed apprentice that fell on them finished the job. It was hardly visited except for idle passersby curious as to what the place was like or to take shelter on the roads duirng bad weather.
It was the closest clue there was to anything. So Alva pulled out her communicator, making a call to her younger sister as she gathered up all her compiled data on the fallen girl, a once shining example of Crina, a student and apprentice of the famed Nicoleta, a traitor and thief, a woman so hated her name was stricken, and who ended up as little more than a mindless little slave for palace fun as a lowly servant. "Utena, whatever you're doing you're dropping it to help me. I have a fun treasure hunt planned and want you to join me, I need someone I can trust to keep a secret and who I can share this with if needed."
