Taygeta Lightkeeper
Ph.D. Geneticist, A.K.A. "Doc"
The Analog Kid (Rush)
Taygeta wandered about the Academy after spending most of the day getting lost in town. She had gone earlier in the day to purchase a new outfit, consisting of a new long-sleeved tunic in cyan and a simple maxi-skirt in cyan and white. Considering she had only come with the outfit she was wearing the day she was rescued, she needed something new to wear and she was on a budget. Her existing lab coat and white sandals would have to do to complete the look. Incidentally, she had gotten herself lost in town, being in unfamiliar surroundings, until a local showed her the way back. There would be a story behind this, indeed.
And so it was that, when she returned, she again found herself wandering about, seemingly aimlessly, until she finally found it: her promised sanctuary, the Academy's lab. Apprehensive at first, she slowly entered the laboratory's access-way and looked around. The place seemed to be well equipped, but lacking living personnel at the moment. She was alone, save for droids who remained busy with their assigned tasks. She observed them for a moment, in particular one that was analysing a sample of an organic substance of some sort. It appeared to be someone's bloodwork, she concluded by eye. She left the droid to its duty.
Finding a terminal, she would enter her credentials as a student and took immediately to making an account for herself in which to store her studies to be conducted in the lab setting. Next, she would turn on some music, of the rock genre to an appreciable volume before, moving to a larger terminal connected to a holoprojector.
"... So, let's see what I can learn about the local lifeforms..." she uttered to herself as she searched the main terminal for sequenced genomes to study. She selected one at random, one belonging to an avian species local to Voss, and the double helix structure of DNA appeared over the holoprojector, spiraling upward to reveal the genome's full length. The playback would loop as the terminal screen began scrolling a string of A,T,C,and G letters.
