Intent: To create something I have wanted since making this character, which is to say a prosthetic that never wears down/protects from serious damage, with the added benefit of reducing fall damage; available to consumers.
Development Thread: In the Eyes of the Beholder (Stands at 17 posts, other members are experiencing a stall, utilizing what I have for objective for Laminanium here if this is acceptable), I could use a Hand (Construction of the first prosthetic)
Manufacturer: Triam Akovin
Model: Highly modified Repulse-Hand
Affiliation: Triam Akovin/A.S.Co. and iBorg Customers
Modularity: May use any Aurek Node
Production: Limited
Material: Laminanium, Sensors (Biological as well as automatic togglable tactile/pain receptors), Repulsion Technology (Optional: insulated with high-grade nullification resin), Electronics, desh-terenthium (Aurek Socket)
Classification: Anti-damage
Weight: 4 kg
Quality: 8
Special Features: Entirely made out of Laminanium, Biometric and velocity sensor triggers for automatic activation of Repulsion Generators (Fall Dampening Settings) given certain biological factors happening with a userss body coupled with their relative velocity, Repulsion devices (to be activated by sensors or on command for either setting) optionally encased in Force Nullification Resin (acquired through iBorg) to prevent tampering through the force.
Description: When Triam Akovin became a hermit for six whole years, she had a tremendous amount of time to think. Locked away in her freighter, she accessed her old fight videos from her days in the Cauldron, analyzing each fight, and pinpointing new weaknesses in force users she may not have picked up on before... as well as their varying strengths. More importantly however, she noticed discrepancies in her own arsenal that she would seek to resolve. For instance, it was observed that out of all her other gear, the only thing she had not fail safed to a majority of damage was her prosthetic arm, that had actually saved her on a number of times by being artificial. Of those times however, her prosthetic was almost completely destroyed.

Oddly enough these times also coincidentally seemed to coincide with falling, for instance, she almost fell into the bottomless ocean along with Jedi Master Ashin Varanin after all her equipment was summarily fried. She had already dealt with patching up her gear against electrocution, but in her desperation to break her nanocables with her nerve dead prosthetic, many of the fingers and other such components were torn apart in the process. This was minor damage, but damage all the same; it costed money to repair. The other time when she was left with a falling situation that lead to her damaged arm being the mechanism of her salvation, was during her duel with Mikhail Shorn. Blown out of a building without anything besides her armor and her ingenuity, it was thought that Triam would surely die, yet out of sheer luck she was capable of grasping to the side of a building with her mechanical hand in order to slow down her fall. It couldn't be seen very well in the videos but she remembered doing it, and knew where to look for it in the video. Even after analyzing the video she still couldn't understand how she survived Mikhail Shorn, but that was a story for another time.

The base of her research lead to the conclusion that her prosthetic was very useful but was easily destroyed. Additionally she noticed, her mobility was always vulnerable when falling. Thus it was conceived, to make an ultra-durable prosthetic that could house an untamperable safety mechanism that prevented her from serious falls. There were a few choices she could have made to create something that was ultra-durable, but what she was really looking for was something that could repair very easily with the least amount of money for the maximum amount of strength. That material was Laminanium, for its basic property of being capable of autonomous self repair. It was not capable of stopping lightsabers however, a prime concern for her considering it was the primary weapon of her most common combatants. However, there was a way around this she believed, and this was through the use of acquiring the brutish prosthetic weapon, the Repulse-hand, which was capable of pushing away melee weapons, possibly even lightsabers, and for use as a secondary weapon that could tear up flesh at close range. Buying one off the black market, dissembling it, reassembling it, and through that process, dissected its secrets to the point of being able to replicate it with other materials of anything she desired. Additionally, she modified the generators to hold two separate settings for the two primary uses she required out of it: one to deflect weapons, and the other to add an anti-gravity element necessary for slowing down lethal falls.

She acquired her Laminanium from an old Yuuzhan Vong Battlefield on some unremarkable world, along with some hired help, after fighting a surprisingly operational YVH 1 battle droid that the locals had come to call a "Ghost Droid" due to its ghoulish appearance and its tendency to vampiricly drain local power stations. Once defeated, she cannibalized her fair share of the droid, in order to break down and siphon off the necessary Laminanium she needed for her prototype, which would later be funded by iBorg for reproduction. The prototype was essentially an updated Repulse-hand (Specialized sensors include tactile and pain indicators with an automatic toggle switch when activated for offensive use) that had two repulsor settings, and that used Laminanium in its entirety. Once handed over to iBorg for further development, an Aurek Socket was crammed into the design. Though this provided a tactical advantage, it also became a liability if targeted since the Socket had been an after thought, though the implants are fairly small and not likely to be targeted without intimate knowledge or experience with the design.

Testers after the initial prototypes were constructed also observed, that offensive use of the design could not be used without the destruction of anything being worn over the prosthetic, due to the repulsive power of the generators.

Strengths:
  • Autonomous Repair of all systems within 24 hour periods
  • Capable of parrying melee weapons (lightsabers "bounce" from the repulsion field) or directly harming exposed flesh in grapple range.
  • Reduces fall damage away from lethal levels automatically
  • Can use singular Aurek Node
  • (Optional) Nullification insulation protects user from possible tampering from force users.
Weaknesses:
  • Not lightsaber resistant
  • Weakest Region located at Aurek Socket (Base of prosthetic, at elbow) and vulnerable to blasters, only moderately protected by repulsion generators, a lightsaber could conceivably slip through if especially fast and powerful.
  • Offensive/Parrying capabilities will destroy anything being worn over prosthetic, such as synthskin, cloth, gloves, some armors, and if it cannot the generators will die out without any effect being granted, unable to be used until self repaired.
  • When Offensive/Parrying capabilities are activated, tactile sensors and manipulative functionality are toggled off, and require twenty seconds to reboot sensors after deactivation.
  • Fall damage reduction cannot stop extreme velocities imposed by outside forces other than gravity (i.e. the force). NOTE: Does not grant flight
  • Complicated programming and sensor triggers can cause a minor glitch in the system, where fall dampening is activated in random situations that do not have to do with falling (Speeder rides tend to set it off). If this glitch occurs, there is a one second delay when switching between Repulsion types.
  • Fairly heavy, given the amount of sheer things and features put into the design, and can unbalance a user.
  • (Optional) Nullification insulation interferes with utilizing prosthetic for any force applications using the arm replaced.

I would like to see some more development focused on either the construction of the hand while utilizing the optional force nullification resin with the repulsor technology that allows it to remain intact during activation, or the construction of the hand and its development with Laminanium. You may continue with the thread or start an entirely different one, I believe ten more posts would be plenty.

Okay, to be honest, I don't really understand much about force nullification resin and how it's supposed operate in regards to site canon, but I put it in there on a recommendation, as my solution was going to require a lot more development.

In order to avoid getting anything wrong in that regard, I'll start a thread in regards to the hands construction and such.

Before that begins however, are there any other particular judgements on the submission I should be privy to so that I may describe its construction in full detail without worry of retcon?

This will be archived until the development has been completed, once ready please notify an Admin or RPJ to have this pulled back out.
