SETTING INFORMATION
Structure Name:The Aether Vault
Classification:Vault
Underground Facility / Shelter
Repository of Knowledge
Location:Undercity, Jutrand
Affiliation: Amelia von Sorenn Amelia von Sorenn
Accessibility
Beneath the decrepit levels of the City-Planet, located in those areas that are often deemed uninhabitable or too dangerous to venture into; the Aether Vault remains hidden away and secluded deep within the forgotten and crumbling ruins of the ancient cities of Jutrand that the Capital is currently built upon. The exact location of the entrance to the Aether Vault is a closely guarded secret, and even the information regarding the facility is kept hidden away. Those that call the Aether Vault home have even been known to pass it off as a legend, a myth an ancient story from a time prior to the Hundred-Years Darkness to keep others from seeking out the facility; save for the most determined.

Communications in or out of the Aether Vault are closely monitored, sent via secured data streams, and back channels to assist in preventing tracking or locating the facility in the unlikely event that they are intercepted. The primary entrance is kept away from the Aether Vault, only connected by a secure tram system that ferries individuals from the entrance to the facility itself; additional precautions and security systems are established to further prevent the facility from being discovered with a system of security monitors and automated defenses keeping a close watch on the exterior of the Aether Vault.
Description
The Aether Vault is a structural marvel to behold; combining sophisticated architectural designs with cutting technological developments to provide a facility designed to remain self-sufficient, requiring little support from external sources. The facility is housed within the deepest levels of the Jutrand Undercity, expanding into even those sections previously labeled as uninhabitable to further expand and develop the Aether Vault and its capabilities. For those few that make the journey into those ancient and decrepit lower levels, the Aether Vault, from the outside, appears as nothing more than another rotting and dilapidated structure from a bygone era long since forgotten. The decrepit appearance and external aesthetic are by design to hide its true nature as a Technologically Advanced settlement at the heart of the City-Planet.

Internally, the Aether Vault is a destination of majesty and wonder; with self-sustaining gardens and parks, high-class amenities, and automated technological features. The Aether Vault's interior could easily be mistaken for the highest levels of Coruscant, the brilliant skylines of Theed, or even the bustling coastal city of Canto Bight. Everything that a denizen could desire is made available, and if it is, an automated manufacturing system is more than capable of producing the item in detail.

Entry to the Aether Vault is closely guarded, and whilst more advanced technologies are being developed to provide secure entry and exit from the facility; its primary entry remains a secured entrance that is housed multiple levels above the Aether Vault itself. This area appears to be an ancient cogged wheel set into a massive reinforced entrance that is both carefully camouflaged and well-guarded with automated defense systems. The main entrance is secured with a series of hydraulics and locks which are housed internally to prevent damage or tampering; a communications platform exists nearby to provide a means for those outside to communicate with the interior of the Aether Vault.

POINTS OF INTEREST
Main Concourse
qgs7N8s.jpg
The first thing that many individuals lay their eyes upon when entering the Aether Vault. The main concourse consists of a vast cylindrical structure with multiple floors each dominated by offices and facilities that act as a central control hub of the entirety of the Aether Vault. Access corridors and Turbolifts provide a means for individuals to access additional sectors and facilities that are further spread out or established away from the Main Concourse.

Within this centralized region are the primary offices of multiple Divisions that are utilized to maintain order and stability within the Aether Vault. Processing centers are located on the ground floor of the Main Concourse and consist of offices and workstations that are utilized to catalog and record the comings and goings of individuals within the Aether Vault. Located on the second floor of the Main Concourse are the Security Offices; Consisting of Barracks, the Primary Armory, and associated facilities. From these Offices, the Security Division can monitor the Aether Vault and deploy as needed in response to threats.

Situated at the very pinnacle of the Main Concourse, providing a commanding view of the Aether Vault below is the Operations Control Office, Boardroom, and Director's Residence. These facilities are utilized to meet with the heads of various internal divisions of the Aether Vault and oversee the continued operations of the facility. The Control Office provides complete control over the Aether Vault through a series of secured terminals; the Director's Residence contains all the amenities that are often available in the modular residential sector.

Residential Sector and Botanical Gardens
29hyxIL.jpg
Thousands call the Aether Vault home, living, thriving, procreating, and passing within the walls of the vast facility. Housing those that reside within the Aether Vault that maintains its operational capacity is the purview of the designated Residential Sector. Outfitted with modular housing units which are capable of being modified to accommodate single individuals up to families of five, the Sector is more than capable of maintaining the needs of those that reside within the Aether Vault. Located within the primary Residential Sector are amenities that the residents may utilize in their daily lives; these include Cantinas, Athletic Facilities, Shopping Centers, Entertainment Venues, and a fully equipped Medical Bay complete with surgical suites, recovery rooms, and observation facilities to keep the populace healthy.

As a means to maximize the use of available space, the Residential Sector also houses the Botanical Gardens of the Aether Vault. These Gardens are in fact a series of smaller terraces, flower boxes, and green belts that are spread throughout the Residential Sector often separated by meandering pathways, lazy rivers, and other water features such as fountains. The bulk of overseeing and maintenance of these Botanical Gardens falls to droids and automated control systems. Additional planters are often provided in Residences to provide a supply of fresh fruits, vegetables, nuts, and plant matter.

Sublevel Automated Storage Rooms
77t8Cmq.jpg
Situated throughout the complex are a series of sublevel storage locations that are accessible only by designated elevators and corridors at predetermined locations within the Aether Vault. These series of sublevels are utilized to maintain the self-sustaining capabilities of the Aether Vault and ensure that excess production materials, foodstuffs, and resources are properly cataloged, stored, and maintained to prevent spoilage or damage of the items. Access to these sublevels is determined by the status of those resources currently being stored; with each region being labeled as unsecured or secured in regards to the nature of materials being stored.

Additional sublevels of storage are maintained to retain heavy construction equipment that is often utilized to further expand the infrastructure of the Aether Vault. These sections fall under the purview of the Facilities Division which is responsible for maintaining and keeping the Aether Vault in operation on a day-to-day basis. One of the primary directives of the Facilities Division is to ensure that the automated capabilities of the Storage Rooms are not disrupted to provide a constant and reliable stream of resources to the individual departments and sections of the Aether Vault.

Robotics Division
wBTD28h.jpg
An internal branch and facility of the Aether Vault that specializes in the mass production of Human Replica Droids; they are also tasked with the development and creation of future generations of HRDs that are utilized by the Aether Vault. The Robotics Division is responsible for maintaining and processing upgrades that ensure that Aether Vault HRDs remain functional at optical capacity and remain undetected by external influences or individuals that they may come in contact with. Their current focus has been on the development of the next generation of Human Replica Droids to outpace and outshines those originally developed by Adrmial Massad Thrumble.

Established under the direction of the Robotics Division; a specialized branch was formed that is utilized to track down and capture or eliminate malfunctioning or rogue Aether Vault HRDs that are no longer properly communicating or receiving orders from the Aether Vault. This organization maintains a series of specialized Human Replica Droid models that were designed solely for this purpose; these specialized HRDs are designed to be highly self-sufficient and are trained in combat, infiltration, and espionage tactics to achieve their programmed mission. This subdivision is also charged with maintaining external surveillance to ensure that the Aether Vault remains undiscovered by external factors.

Carbonite Stasis Chambers

It should not be forgotten or understated that the Aether Vault is first and foremost a vault, a place of seclusion and shelter to house both people and knowledge in the event of a catastrophic incident. The Aether Vault is equipped with multiple chambers that maintain automated chambers with more than enough stasis pods to house the entire population of the Aether Vault and then some. Each chamber is located deep within the Aether Vault, sequestering and shielding the chambers away from the dangers above to further protect their precious and fragile contents.

Utilizing technology based on the Carbonite process that is often used to transport Tibanna Gas rather than older more unstable methods of cryogenic suspension. These Stasis Pods are synched to an automated system that is preprogrammed with a series of intervals; the shortest being six months and the longest limited to five hundred years. The Chambers are also utilized to preserve materials and resources to aid in the rebuilding of the Aether Vault in the event that the facility itself is compromised or otherwise damaged by an external or internal force.

Central Mainframe
54sZ6wi.jpg
Located at the very heart of the Aether Vault; inside are vast amounts of data that are stored electronically and holographically which are carefully organized into a wide variety of subjects that are consistently kept up-to-date. The Central Mainframe contains standardized Data Tapes and Holobooks in multistory databanks; access to these sources of information is often determined based on the nature of the information and can be open-accessed or secured to prevent the wrong individual from accessing information or data that they are not clear to possess.

Additional Sublevels of the Central Mainframe exist; each is utilized to maintain and contain different forms of information or data inputs. The Hardfile Sublevel maintains a series of non-electronic and non-holographic sources of information or 'Hard Copies' of all digitized information that exists within the Central Mainframe; serving as a precaution. The Central Mainframe also houses Vault Zero, a secured vault that holds Force-based Artifacts and objects including though not limited to Holocrons, Vitalicrons, Star Maps, Sith Masks, Wayfinders, Seeing Stones, and Lightsaber Crystals. Access to Vault Zero is heavily restricted and the contents of the vault are kept in a hard copy record which is closely guarded and restricted.

Automated Factories
tqErA0E.jpg
A cyclical nature marks the purpose of the facility; resources and materials are brought in, often recovered from those forgotten structures of the under levels of Jutrand, old droids march to their final deprogramming, and all is made anew. This continued cycle of reclamation, recycling, and reproducing is the hallmark of the once mighty automated factories of the Confederacy; reborn anew within the depths of the Aether Vault. Housing massive automated facilities, its computers, and databanks are the resting places of any number of blueprints, technical readouts, and schematics of a multitude of droids spanning all classes. While the Robotics Division is solely focused on the development and production of Human Replica Droids; it is this massive automated facility that sees to the needs and production of all others that are utilized.

However; droids are not the only things produced in the automated facilities of the Aether Vault. Advanced Sciences, a division that specializes in applied physics, plasma weaponry, and a slew of other special projects are also housed within the Automated Factories of the Aether Vault. Advanced Sciences is responsible for the research, development, and ultimate production of new series droids, armor, armaments, and everything in between that is often utilized by the denizens of the Aether Vault in their everyday lives.

Facilities & Utilities Sublevels
yoJQXlR.jpg
The Facilities Division is often an underappreciated sector of the Aether Vault; though it is the only Division that maintains the continued operational capacity and viability of the facility. Tasked with performing daily duties such as servicing life support systems, ventilation, and maintaining the power network, they keep the electrical and mechanical systems of the Aether Vault running smoothly. Additional duties include the maintenance and upgrading of all systems that make it possible to live and function in the Aether Vault.

Crucial apparatus that exists within the Aether Vault is a series of sublevels dedicated to facilities and utilities; which include the primary power generators of the facility as well as a series of backup generators and storage capacitors to ensure an uninterrupted supply of power to the Aether Vault. Though not involved in exciting work; the work that they do ensures the continued supply of air, water, and power provided to the Aether Vault. The Facilities Division and the Sublevels are also provided maintenance droids and limited numbers of Human Replica Droids; simple though effective tools for keeping the Aether Vault fully operational.

SECURITY

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
The Galaxy remains in conflict; it has been nearly 880 years since the Battle of Yavin.

Over a decade ago the Confederacy of Independent Systems collapsed; one among many formerly great powers that had claimed vast swaths of the galaxy, The First Order, the Mandalorian Union, and the Sith Eternal to name a few. During the collapse of the Confederacy, those that could stand, fought against a great devourer that sought and succeeded in laying low its perceived enemy. When the dust settled, the Remnants of the Confederacy ventured into Wild Space, arriving in the Shiraya Expanse and facing an unknown future. Few would return to the Galaxy, among those that did, a Technocratic Cabal that sought to approach the galaxy in a new light, to keep themselves hidden and observe as they grew; The Aetherium Society.

In the intervening years between the collapse of many great Galatic Powers and the Rising of Others, the Aetherium Society dug into the depths of Jutrand and made their home, the Aether Vault to serve as a self-sufficient facility with a focus on developing revolutionary technologies while documenting Galactic Events of importance. The Aether Vault was also designed to house the collective information and records of collapsed nations to preserve the knowledge for future generations and perhaps serve as a warning for those that come after.

Galactic Events have forced the hand of the Aetherium Society; the operation of the Aether Vault has progressed rapidly with the collapse of The Empire, The Silver Jedi Concord, The Mandalorian Enclave, and even the Eternal Empire. The current directive and function of the Aether Vault is the collection, cataloging, and storage of all information known to or to be developed by the Sith Order on Jutrand.
