SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Electrical Weapon: Admiral's Folly, in any of its fire modes, fires raw electrical energy that appears as some form of lightning to most users. This means that the weapon does not need any sort of blaster gas (despite its name) and that some defenses engineered specifically to impair most energy weapons may not necessarily affect the Astrapi.
  • Variable Fire Modes: Admiral's Folly can release in its electrical attacks at different rates of fire and intensities, allowing it to effectively mimic a number of existing electric weapons. In its standard mode, the Admiral's Folly works like a typical electrical heavy static blaster pistol – firing bolts of condensed electricity and making it largely the equivalent of a typical heavy blaster pistol in raw performance though its wound appearance is often quite deceptive. For example, against flesh, the entry wound is likely to appear small and almost insignificant, but it may cause electrical burn injuries with surprisingly deep subdermal tissue burns along with cardiac dysrhythmias. Similarly, a droid hit by this weapon may initially appear to be almost intact from the outside, but have its circuits fried internally, rendering it inoperative. In its Arc Caster Mode, the Admiral's Folly fires sustained high voltage electrical currents that have the potential to jump to several other nearby targets, though damage to these secondary targets is usually to a less severe degree. While its effects on targets are in general very similar to that of the static blaster, the sheer power difference involved typically makes damage severely more grievous, potentially causing arc burns that can create internal pressure wave that rip apart an organic target from the inside out or ignite the target on fire. In contrast to this setting, the Admiral's Folly can also rapidly discharge packets of electricity much like an electrobolt assault rifle. Each energy packet individually is rarely lethal unless it hits a vital spot, but instead it tends to produce mostly superficial damage but with excruciating pain and uncontrollable muscle spasms, making it useful as a less-than lethal weapon. While harsher and arguably crueler than stun blasters, this setting also inflicts more enduring physiological debilities to subdue opponents. However, a quick succession of hits in this mode can quickly kill a standard humanoid, typically through cardiac ventricular dysrhythmias and internal burns.
  • Suppressed Weapon: The Admiral's Folly is equipped with an integral blaster suppressor, which not a perfect for the technology involved, does reduce the sound signature of the weapon to be fairly quiet, often to the point where people confuse the sound of its discharge with common, relatively quiet electrical tools like power calibrators. This makes it relatively pleasant to fire for the shooter and sometimes makes it useful for more covert applications.
  • Novice's Aid: The Admiral's Folly is designed to be easily used and effective for someone who is rarely able to consistently practice. To that end, the Admiral's Folly uses an auto-steady gimbal, an advanced targeting scope, and careful calibration to make recoil very, very light in order to make shooting the weapon effectively very easy even for someone unskilled.
STRENGTHS
  • Electrical Weapon: The Admiral's Folly is a somewhat exotic weapon due to its method of discharging electricity, making it something fewer opponents are prepared for. In fact, wearing metal-based armor may be even counterproductive, as such armor can potentially conduct the electrical currents more directly into the target than some other armor and clothing types.
  • Excellent Firepower (Arc Caster Fire Mode): The Arc Caster mode is exceptionally powerful due to the quick application of high voltage electrical currents applied to its targets. It’s ability to leap to nearby targets also makes it valuable when fighting against multiple foes.
  • Rapid Fire (Electrobolt Fire Mode):The electrical packets formed in Electrobolt mode are fairly low-powered, allowing them to be rapidly generated and discharged.
WEAKNESSES
  • Bulky Weapon: The Admiral's Folly is a fairly large pistol, making it something that isn't exactly is easy to conceal or secret away.
DESCRIPTION
The Admiral's Folly started out as a prototype static blaster pistol whose technology that ultimately ended up being used by the LPD-49 Astrapi Miniaturized Static Blaster. Once the static blaster technology was sufficiently miniaturized and adapted into its production form, the prototype static blaster pistol was secured in a company vault, where it sat almost forgotten by the company staff. After several close calls, Admiral Quee decided that he needed a sidearm more customized for his personal use, largely due to the fact that he could not spend much time training with most personal weapons to be remain effective with them. Ultimately, he decided that he needed a low recoil weapon that could simultaneously produce a lot of firepower - not an easy task to accomplish. When discussing this need with several LPD engineers, the prototype static blaster came to light, which Gir promptly took for his own. After a round of modifications by LPD engineers, and several tinkerings made by the admiral himself, the Admiral's Folly soon found itself strapped in Gir's duty holster. The weapon's name came from Sariya Fenni to remind Gir of his very basic skills in personal combat, but a name which Gir kept in order to remind himself of his limitations.
