Private That's So Coral

Kaimana's dark eyes swirled in their moons and stars, widening at the sudden appearance of the Saberfish. Coming to a pause, she let the current take her while trying her best to make a determination for her next move. Her headtails gave a sway behind the leather clutch that held them back. Eyes would dart, glancing over to see if Brooke Waters Brooke Waters was alright. A mass of silt had clouded over her body, but thankfully Kaimana was able to see she was alright.

Makai, however, would realize that saberfish was headed his way. Unsure how much of a powerful swimmer the boy would be, Kaimana swam forward, spear in hand, intending to try and distract the Saberfish from heading over the younger Dashiell's way.

Makai had caught sight of saberfish-like creature at first, then it was completely lost in silt and debris from the blonde being pushed down into the soft bottom of the ocean. If he had to guess, and it merely was a guess, the saberfish would be circling them.

He caught sight of the creature zooming straight for him. Makai waited a moment, dodging the creature at the last second and used its body to push away, swimming off towards Brooke so it was more of a two-against-one situation.

Kaimana had the speargun, and idly he wondered if she would use it or was they would retreat and leave the ocean creature be. After all, they did intrude on its home.

Saberfish.

Brooke shook her head, slowly, under the water, and looked up. She had an idea of how to target this fish and get her spear into it. But was that the best option? She had the others to look after. The blonde adjusted her grip as she kept moving up and forward. Whispering a small song, a song of weapons, on the spear, to strengthen it.

Makai came close and she nodded. “I can’t tell if its the fish’s turf, before we attack it…” They may have wandered onto its home.

With a swish and adjustment of her body within the water, Kaimana gave a nod at Brooke's direction. If she was able to tell, then all the better. Under the sea, everything had their place, their purpose. Perhaps, the Saberfish was simply defending its home or its young.

The Nautolan made gestures to indicate she would turn and protect their backs just in case there were any other Saberfish in the area while Brooke investigated.

All the while, the dark shadow that was the Saberfish would dart behind a large swath of coral, before its sleek body jerked and turned, coming back towards Brooke.

Wait, we're going to investigate why the saberfish is bothering us? Why not just retreat?

He had zero idea why Brooke wanted to get closer to where the dangerous creature was swirling and moving. If Makai had to guess there was a potential nest and the fish was just protecting where it lived.

Unless saberfish young was some weird delicacy they were about to try to catch and eat.

Either way, he was sticking close to the blonde. Perhaps she would need help - although she looked completely capable.

Brooke didn’t want to get the saberfish on their bad side. It seemed that it already was, but if there were young about, that was a different sort of retreat than if they were simply in the fish’s territory. The latter meant they had a klick or two to get away from so that they’d not be a repeat meal attempt.

Making the decision was going to be the real clincher.

“If we find young we dont need to go as far as if this is the fish’s turf. They’re the apex in this area.”
If she had any opinion on it. The saberfish was a lot bigger than she was, and a lot faster in the water. She dove down, looking for the cave. A cave would have eggs and the young, and in the corals? It’d be the perfect nursery…

And sure enough… “Bad sign. Baaad sign!” She called through the water. This fish was going to fight until they were out of here, and they would need to move, fast!

Well, things were going to go the way Kaimana expected them. As the Nautolan had the spear in hand, she gestured for Brooke and Makai to make headway to escape. She would do her best to try and deter the saberfish and distract it.

She deliberately swam in front of Brooke and did her best to try to swing her spear to have the Saberfish move away from them. It swam off, its body perfectly formed to swim and cut through the water, before coming back around again. Her swing didn't impact it, and Kaimana didn't want to try and kill it unless they absolutely had to.

Go, her gestures would indicate for the pair to continue to leave. She'll follow.

These women are crazy.

Having lost the ability to speak underwater; too much human in him now, Makai was left alone with his own thoughts on the entire situation. The fact Brooke got closer on purpose was still mind blowing to him. Granted she had a weapon but the saber fish seemed like a fierce predator, eager to protect it's home site.

Being weaponless, he could only follow the directions of Kaimana. Granted, in an emergency one could punch a saber fish in the snout but he didn't want to get close enough to try.

So he kicked off towards shore. Might be time to get on dry land.

Definitely wasnt a good sign. A nursery for the Saberfish was not something to invade, even accidentally. Brooke wasn’t about to stay here and leave her team, but she needed to get everyone out of here. Looking to the other two, she knew that at least one was faster than her in the water. And it was obvious when Kaimana cut in front of her. Feeling the gesture in the water, Brooke nodded. She touched down on the ground and kicked off, away from the saberfish.

Brooke saw Makai and could feel a little distance from him, looking over her shoulder, she whispered a small spell under the water, the words not landing, but giving her focus. She shoved the water, making an undersea wave to push Makai towards the shore as she kicked off and made her own way following.

A look back to Kaimana, Brooke gave a sharp whistle. Meant something to her and her family, but maybe not to Kaimana. Hey over here, get moving!

Thankfully, Kaimana managed to distract the Saberfish from chasing after Brooke and Makai. Once the pair had enough distance between them, the Nautolan gave a savage kick of her legs and did her best to catch up to the pair, every so often looking down to see if the Saberfish would follow.

It did.

Kaimana managed to use her spear combined with quick swimming techniques to avoid getting lanced through, but it was clear that the Saberfish meant to do its best to chase them off as far as it could or get one of them speared.

Hopefully, Brooke and Makai managed to get to shore as quickly as possible.

Makai wasn't a very coordinated young man. Never had been. Things had improved slightly as he got older but if he wasn't expecting something it just threw off his entire groove.

Take the wave that suddenly came out of nowhere.

He suddenly found himself tangled up in some kelp, getting disorientated, and immediately losing his bearings. The momentum of the wave keep going, pushing him along with it as the water and himself crashed onto shore.

Makai found himself on his back, blinking in the bright sunshine, a tiny little crab skittering by his head.

Well, I've made it to shore.

Shadow fell over him. Thirty-Seven.

[ Welcome back Sir. ]
