Culture: In the Aradia system Te’Van are as close to deities as an animal could be considered. They are almost worshipped by the natives. It is even thought that when one sees a Te’Van that it is a sign of prosperity and wealth to come. For one to find a Golden or Silver Te’Van is even better and is said to be a sign one is destined to become great. The last Golden Te’Van to be seen was over three centuries ago right before the Sovereign family ascended to the throne. Due to the hunters that come to the Aradia system in hopes of capturing or killing a Te’Van the natives all are instructed to give their lives if necessary to protect the majestic creatures.
Technology level: N/A
General behavior: Unlike the Mynkir, Te’Van were not naturally violent and were instead a peaceful species that at times would stop to examine the natives out of curiosity. Nor were they dumb like the numerous Duxalo. Instead the Te’van were a proud species that at times could make a connection to sentients among them proving themselves through noble actions or self sacrifice. This connection was what earned them the classification as Semi-Sentient beings as the creatures could understand emotions and through such could project their emotions to sentients that they deemed worthy.
Wild Te’Van scour the lands for Mynkir as the two are natural enemies and can often be found quarreling with each other. Rarely will a Te’Van settle in one spot for too long unless it has hatchlings located there.
History: Te’Van have always been and will always be as far as the natives are concerned. Stories of the majestic beasts have been passed down from generation to generation telling how the first settlers on Glyss came face to face with one of the creatures, however unlike the other creatures on the planet it did not harm the immigrants. Instead it watched them from a distance with curiosity, and wherever they went the Te’Van would follow. However when a Mynkir happened to be coming by to attack the roaming immigrants the Te’Van went to the rescue fighting off the Mynkir till it had no choice but to retreat with its tail between its legs.
It was at this moment that the ones who colonized the Aradia system first connected with a Te’van on a level the exceeded the physical. Sharing its emotions with them all before departing the Te’Van left an impression on the colonizers that lasted to this day. There were even tales of how some became riders using the beast akin to one would a steed to travel across the planet. Though these were just myths… Or were they? Tales even speak of the great Titania Sovereign riding a golden one into battle against her enemies.
