SPECIAL FEATURES
STRENGTHS
  • (+) Fuel Feed Selection: the 22b Fusion Turbine can operate off cheap liquid hydrogen, or more expensive deuterium, as both are hydrogen based. This allows colonists the ability to be flexible in their fuel choice as they grow.
  • (+) Sequential: the 22b Fusion Turbine can be linked into sequential arrays of up to three units, allowing for greater power generation as a colony grows, without the need to buy a new larger unit.
  • (+) Accessible: the 22b Fusion Turbine is sturdy, easy to repair and maintain, and has universal energy jack connectors that make installation a breeze. Combined with a low price point, this makes it an attractive option for burgeoning colonies.
  • (+) Power Cycler: the 22b Fusion Turbine addresses the primary drawback of the 11a Fusion Turbine, and integrates a power cycler for much faster startups; the 22b can be shutdown and reinitialized in as little as thirty minutes.
WEAKNESSES
  • (-) Variable Efficiency: depending on the fuel used, different outputs and efficiency is created. Liquid Hydrogen yields roughly 40% efficiency, while Deuterium yields about 60% efficiency.
  • (-) Sequence Locked: despite being able to be staged in arrays, the 11a uses specialized energy couplers that will only accept other Tetron generators - this locks the colony into buying more Tetron products.
  • (-) Overload Potential: the 22b solves the previous 11a model's restart issues by utilizing an integrated power cycler - essentially an overcharger, the power cycler is vulnerable to explosive overload if it is damaged or if it is unable to dump the energy in its capacitor - something exploitable to saboteurs.

DESCRIPTION
The Tetron Centrex Colony-Class 22b Fusion Turbine is an Ion-Plasma powered fusion turbine generator. An Ion-Plasma reaction supplies constant ion flow through ion inductors to an ion pre-cycle impeller; once enough requisite charge is stored, the impeller drives a plasma rotor that generates power. With its sequential design, the generator is sufficient to power 1,000 households with a single generator, 3,000 with two, and 5,000 with three generators in a staged array.

Designed as an update to the earlier 11a model, the 22b was born from Tetron Centrex's hard-learned lessons with the 11a, which had won a reputation as an affordable and dependable generator for frontier colonies, but also drew criticism for its sluggish startup cycles. Colonial councils and independent contractors alike grew frustrated with the hours-long downtime any time the 11a needed maintenance, a vulnerability that raiders and rival factions quickly learned to exploit. Tetron, ever pragmatic and eager to secure footing beyond the Corporate Sector, commissioned the 22b; with its integrated power cycler, the 22b is capable of restarting in under thirty minutes, making it a far more viable option not just for colony growth, but for frontier settlements exposed to sabotage, skirmishes, or unpredictable environmental stresses.

Functionally, the 22b continues to balance flexibility with calculated dependency. Its ability to run on both liquid hydrogen and deuterium makes it adaptable across a variety of colonial environments, and when staged in sequential arrays it can sustain entire settlements numbering in the thousands. More insidiously, Tetron has doubled down on its sequence-lock technology, ensuring that expansion into higher output arrays all but forces a settlement into deeper dependence on Tetron-brand turbines and parts.
