SPECIAL FEATURES
STRENGTHS
  • (+) Covert Watcher: the ASD-11 utilizes durinium, adaptive camouflage paint, low output thrusters, and a small size to to baffle enemy sensors and greatly impede detection.
  • (+) Loitering Droid: once launched the ASD-11 can loiter in the air for weeks at a time, thanks to a lightweight winged design and solar cells.
  • (+) Surveillance Suite: the ASD-11 utilizes numerous passive data collection methods for information gathering and transmission - the ASD-11 excels at getting as clear and an informative picture of its surroundings as possible.
WEAKNESSES
  • (-) Slow: the ASD-11 is relatively slow at 100/kph, and typically needs to be deployed well in advance of an operation, or near location, in order to surveil in a timely manner.
  • (-) Unarmored: the ASD-11 is unarmored, as this would weigh it down and deplete its ability to loiter. Even small arms fire is capable of bringing this droid down at low altitudes - if they're able to spot it.
  • (-) Not Cloaked: the ASD-11 is not actively cloaked and relies on passive sensor baffling - it can still be detected by a dedicated array if it knows where to look, or if they spend enough resources to locate it. The ASD-11 more relies on the fact that it is a low-priority asset that taking the time to locate it is not worth the trouble.

DESCRIPTION
The Tetron Aerial Surveillance Droid ASD-11 is the spiritual successor to the AS23 Aerial Survey Droid of ages prior, redesigned as a loitering surveillance droid for battlefield overwatch, artillery spotting, and general surveillance use. With a 2 meter wingspan and measuring .25 meter long, the ASD-11 has a cruising altitude of 15 kilometers at 100/kph.

An unusual design, the ASD-11 is one of the few droids (or any modern flying machine, for that matter) to use actual wings to aid it in flight. The reason for this is simple; to minimize its energy signature to an absolute minimum, the ASD-11 uses a low thrust microjet to propel itself, relying on low-tech atmospheric pressure on its aeroframe to keep it aloft. Combined with micropanel solar cells and a rylith crystal energy core, the ASD-11 can loiter in the air for weeks at a time, subsisting on ambient solar energy, while emitting a virtually nonexistent energy signature compared to dedicated repulsorlift drones.

For stealth, the ASD-11 relies on a durinium impregnated aeroframe to disrupt enemy sensors and greatly impede detection, which is greatly aided by its energy signature and small size. Visually, the ASD-11 relies on electro-chemical camouflage paint to take on the colors and patterns of the sky it flies in, and excels at blending into its surroundings at altitude.

Surveillance-wise, the ASD-11 relies on passive collection methods such as low-feedback scanners and passive mode sensors in order to preserve its stealth capabilities, which is further augmented by an expansive visual scanning suite with numerous filter modes and light-spectrum scanning capabilities. For covert communication, the ASD-11 utilizes a blind-band hypercomm augmented by an ion scrambler, though is capable of PTP laserlink as a backup.

Hello! Yes, I figured it would require some explanation image-wise.

As far as I know, the work is an old work from Cosimo Galluzzi, but it is no longer listed in his gallery. I was unable to find any other original sources (art station, etc) aside from pinterest stating the work was from him. I've used google images and tin eye.
