Name: Teradin Tree
Designation: Non-Sentient
Homeworld: Veradune
Language: N/A
Average height of adults: 50 meters
Bark color: Dark Brown
Hair color: N/A
Breathes: Type 1
Strengths:
Survives in any soil condition
Very high defensive capabilities for a plant
Very hard bark
Paralytic poison spikes(Paralytic is fast acting and completely stops human sized prey in a matter of seconds, though it will wear off after about five minutes. Poison will loose effectiveness if harvested, causing it to take about an hour to take full effect)
Tendrils to pull in food
Can survive a week on sunlight alone

Weaknesses:
Fire. Just like any plant, flame can burn away the leaves vital to its nutrients.(and the rest of the tree if its intense enough)
Needs to eat unlike other plants (a large meal once a month)
Tendrils can easily be cut by most blades(anything made of steel or stronger can slice right through)
Several species on their planet have learned to spot and avoid them
Poisons. Strong or large amounts of herbicides can kill Teradins.

Distinctions: Common only to the world of Veradune, the Teradin trees procide a sense of danger to the planet’s large forests.
Average Lifespan: 700 years
Races: No variance
Estimated Population: Non-Endangered (though they are only found on Veradune)
Diet: Any living creature. Sunlight can be used in emergencies.
Communication: None
Culture: None
Technology level: None
General behavior: Due to being trees, Teradin Trees are stationary unless moved by an incredibly stupid, or well prepared being. From their places, they wait for food to walk by, mistaking them for a normal tree. Once their prey treads over the underground roots, the tree senses the mass of vibrations and acts quickly, sending a mass of tendrils to leave the base of the trunk to wrap around the victim before bringing it close enough for the limbs around the trunk to hit it with a set of poisonous paralytic spikes. Once the victim is paralyzed, the tree drags the body up into the branches where the inner leaves close around it and secrete acids which will digest the carcass.
History:
500,000 BBY: Teradin Trees evolve into existence
5,000 BBY: Zorrens have learned to avoid the deadly Teradin trees.
1,000 BBY: Teradins are used by the zorren people to their advantage, though such work of utilization is dangerous for the sentient species.
1000 BBY-Present: Teradins continue to be man eating trees with no real changes save that people occasionally use them for guard trees and signs of power.
Notable Player-Characters: It’s a tree
Intent: To provide an interesting plant to Veradune as well as the Star Wars universe as a whole.

How long can they be sustained by just sunlight?

How do they sense prey? How fast do their tendrils move?

'Unable to move' and 'Incapable of speaking' are not weakensses... that just means it's a plant. It needs another good weakness or two to balance out it's strenghts. Prehaps it's tendrils move slowly, so if somehting notices it they can get out in time? Just a suggestion. Tag me when you're ready.

Weaknesses Added: Fire, Herbicides, Tendrils can easily be cut.
Added that the photosynthesis can only last the tree one week.

Tree senses vibrations with its roots(kinda like a spider web)

How strong is the paralytic, when does it wear off, what type of paralytic, is it deadly, and can it be harvested?

[member="Vulpesen"]

Sounds good, just wanted to make sure people didn't harvest it for super-poisons.

Approved, pending secondary.
