Description:

With the rise in combat and the change from front line warfare to more clandestine operations, Popo felt it was time to branch into the predator and attack droids for use in more... tricky situations. The F3R-L Predator Droid was the result.

The two key points the droids were designed for was efficiency of attack/retrieval and durability. In order to effectively be the attack and retrieval droid it needed to be, careful consideration was taken into account for the droid's offensive capabilities.

The primary weapon equipped to the droid is not a physical weapon at all, but is rather the programming installed in the droid brain. The droid forgoes all ranged capabilities in order to max out its hand to hand potential. The programming consists primarily of Echani martial arts techniques and uses that basis as the foundation for most of its martial programming, however the programming also consists of a variety of martial arts forms including various aspects of Wrruushi and Hijkata along with odds and ends of other, well known martial arts moves like the Keldabe Handshake. Along with this programming the droid is also equipped with a pair of retractable vibroknives located in each hand along the back of the wrist. The droid's programming covers these weapons as well in both use and efficiency. The last weapon mounted on the droid are a small series of panels running along the inside of the droid's hands. Each panel is highly conductive and functions as a contact taser with enough voltage to render an average human target unconscious. All three weapons combined leaves this droid with a nigh unstoppable onslaught capable of bringing down and either killing or capturing most targets with relative ease.

As the droid is required to survive long enough to capture its prey, durability was determined to be a high necessity. Taking a page from the Champio-class armor, the F3R-L was constructed similarly. The basis of the droid was an alusteel-titanium skeleton capable of withstanding heavy wear and surviving all but the heaviest of damage. Over this is the droid's servos, sensors, and other equipment needed for function. Mounted directly to the skeleton to cover the vital areas of the droid are a series of reinforced Duraplast plates designed to maximize protection, even from limited lightsaber exposure, while allowing the most flexibility possible. Reinforcing the duraplast is a series of titanium inserts to give strength and better structure to the duraplast as well as to allow the last layer to mount easily to the armor plating. The outermost layer of the droid is a tritanium plating series that covers the droid entirely. This allows the droid to survive and deal with most kinetic attacks while still remaining functional.

Realizing that the droid may have to navigate rough terrain and chase down targets, engineers and technicians increased the power output of the servos and reinforced the areas as well. This allows the droid to run slightly faster than a humanoid soldier and to prevent servo failures from wear and tear on the parts. Along with the servos, a series of small jets were added to the droid's back. These jets give a small boost in jumping ability to allow the droid to jump 2-3 times higher than the average humanoid soldier to better navigate terrain and obstacles.

The downsides of the droid are fairly evident, however. First, the droid's IFF indicator is simple and only holds four options: Handler, Friendly, Kill, Capture. This makes it difficult to use in complex situations requiring a more specialized touch. Second, the droid features only minimal ion/EMP protection meaning it is vulnerable to those types of weapons. Lastly, with enough damage to the droid brain, the droid may lose its IFF programming and go 'rogue'. A Rogue F3R-L droid will see all targets around itself as Kill targets and begin to attack, leading to rather wide variety of problems for everyone.

Overall, the F3R-L Predator droid is more than capable of hunting and taking down targets in almost any terrain and climate, making the droid the premier choice for more clandestine needs and wants.
